Description:
Petra is finally getting her life back and able to actually live now that they have eliminated the threat to their group, the Offspring, but she's approached by Pope who needs her help to get in touch with Cheveyo. Cheveyo is the only person who has enough power to help Pope escape being captured by a hunter who has come to earth to take Pope home to face punishment for abandoning his duty and using his powers on earth to help some of the Offspring who were in terrible danger, which is forbidden. She and Cheveyo have always had a connection but Cheveyo has never allowed himself to be with Petra for fear of her life. So Petra had started to come to terms with only loving him from afar. But now that she's in danger from that same hunter Cheveyo has no choice but to take her with him so he can take care of the hunter for Pope and protect Petra too. He intends to keep his distance from her for as long as their together but the undeniable connection between them makes that virtually impossible because they are so drawn to each other. Yet he still plans to send her back to her ordinary life so he can continue his dangerous one. Together along with Pope they fight for theirs lives and the lives of the other Offspring and during that they all learn things about themselves they never knew before and Petra and Cheveyo fight their own personal battle along the way!


My Review:
Beyond the Darkness takes us back into the world of the Offspring, a group of young adults who inherited special abilities from their parents because of a government experiment.  This is the 5th book in this series and in my opinion the best so far! Cheveyo has only been a tiny part of the Offspring's lives and a very mysterious one at that so it was awesome to FINALLY be able to learn about him and see him and Petra come together and so worth the wait!!!

Petra has always been one of my favorite characters in this series. She's very spunky when she wants to be but she also very very vulnerable not just because of all of the awful things the Offspring have been put through but because of her life before, as a child, and now because she's so desperate for love. In my opinion she's the one who deserves a love of her own the most! Her abilities, being able to hear really really well and being a healer, are very cool! I've always though that to be a healer you have been touched by God, you have the ability to not just give back a life but to almost make in better because of being saved. And Cheveyo, he is just so YUMMY! He has it all if you ask me! He's a sexy native american, he can change into a black jaguar and has other awesome powers, and he's super mysterious! Now if that's not good romance material  I don't know what is! Petra is one lucky chick! But he's so conflicted from events throughout his life that have done nothing but hold him back from being who he truly wants to be. I just wanted to hug him through the whole book! I can't imagine being so alone, yet never alone at all thanks to his crazy father!

All in all this is a fantastic read. It has action, adventure, drama and best of all hot steamy romance! And without saying too much, that hotel scene...damn that was the sweetest romance scene from any book I've ever read....EVER!!! I give this book 5 Stars....I almost wish I could give it more. That's how much I loved it! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read but if you haven't read any of the other Offspring books yet, read those first. You don't really have to to follow this book but I think it would be more fulfilling if you did just so you get the full impact of how special Petra and Cheveyo really are!
