Synopsis:
Julia Abbot and Ryan Matthews have been inseparable best friends since

I received a copy of "The Future of Our Past" by Kahlen Aymes from Reading Addiction Book Tours. I'm always wanting to read from new authors and loved the description of "The Future of Our Past".
This is a story of two best friends who have loved each other for awhile now, but they have never shared their feelings with each other. Julia and Ryan met in college and they were inseparable the minute they met each other. Ryan has always loved Julia, but did not have the guts to say anything. Julia has always loved Ryan...but feared if they got together, they would wreck their amazing friendship. It takes Ryan going to Harvard and Julia going off to Los Angeles to have them finally come together. Unfortunately, thousands of miles part is not going to work out for Ryan. He wants Julia close to him in Boston. Julia is loving her job in L.A. though, but is she willing to give it all up to be with the man she has been in love with since the moment she met him?
My thoughts on "A Future of Our Past", was I loved the storyline. Two best friends who have kept their feelings from each other for the longest and their friends realized there was love tension between them both. Julia and Ryan have perfect chemistry and even I was rooting for them to get together. I wished just like Ryan that they would have found out sooner of each other. This book took me through ups and downs of emotions when reading it. I was happy one minute, mad the next, and crying at the very end. Oh boy...was I crying.
This definitely is a emotional roller coaster of a book, so be prepared to have tissues on hand.
This book is also a very steamy read...so if be prepared for some erotic scenes between Julia and Ryan.
Some things that bothered me though, were when Julie always came up with excuses in the beginning on why they shouldn't be together and then the annoying crying after they did get together. Drove me bonkers every time Ryan and her got together and she was in tears afterwards. I know poor Ryan felt awful every time. Another thing, that bothered me is how Ryan seemed whiny and push towards Julia. Julia was doing amazing in L.A. and he was kind of being selfish to have her closer. I could go on and on with how pushy Ryan was. He should have been focusing on his studies at Harvard. I did like the fact how Ryan was very protective of Julia, even when they were just friends. That is a very strong quality that really grew on me about Ryan.
"The Future of Our Past" was a very enjoyable, steamy read.
I recommend it to romance lovers out there and erotica readers.
Like I state above though, be prepared for a emotional roller coaster.
The next book in the Remembrance trilogy, "Don't Forget to Remember Me", should be out soon. I will definitely be reading it since I want to know what happens to Ryan and Julia.

Where are you from and
tell us a little about yourself?
I’m
from Nebraska originally and went to a private university in the Mid-west. My background and degree is in business,
although I’ve always has a love of books and reading. I always thought, “I could write a book,” as
I was reading growing up, but I never tried it.
I’m divorced, with one daughter and two Golden Retrievers.
When and why did you begin writing?
It’s
a funny story. I developed a website for
couponing when the economy tanked and in the process of figuring out ways to
market the business, I discovered writing as a tool to do it. I needed to network with large groups of
women and the Twilight mania was everywhere.
It seemed logical that somewhere in that venue, was the network I
needed. So I began to write FanFiction
for Twilight, similarly, and in the same time-frame, as EL James.
It
didn’t take long for relationships to form with readers and they were
nominating my stories for contests and awards.
My focus soon shifted from my coupon venture to writing my stories and
keeping my readers entertained. I found
I adored writing, I loved my characters and mostly, I loved my readers!
What inspired you to write?
The
answer to this question is answered in the one above. First it was work, then it was love of
writing and still is.
How did you come up with the title of your current book?
When
I started writing, I didn’t intend to publish, so I had no idea about book
length restrictions. I just wrote the
story in my head until it was done.
The
original story has turned into the first two novels in the Trilogy. The second book is keeping the original
title, Don’t Forget to Remember Me, so I needed a new one for the first book. The Future of Our Past is a juxtaposition,
just as Don’t Forget to Remember Me is, and for something to be valued enough
to have a fear of forgetting it, it has to be created. In Book One, I’m creating the relationship
and memories that will become a very valued history in Book Two.
The
whole point of the Trilogy is an unspoken connection so strong and love so
transcending that absolutely nothing can break it. And believe me, there are obstacles, some
that seem insurmountable.
What books have most influenced your life most?
Oh,
boy. This is a tough one. I’ve always read and read and read! Many of the classics; The Bronte’s, Jane
Austin, T.S. Elliot, Tolstoy, Herman Melville, D. H. Lawrence, Homer…then there
was Johanna Lindsey, Nora Roberts, Janet Daily, Fern Michaels, Kathleen Woodiwiss,
and Stephen King. I could name
hundreds. Literally. I know I’m forgetting someone important!
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Wow. Well, I met Nora Roberts at a Writer’s
Convention for The Romance Writers of America a couple of years back. She’s not only a great writer, but she’s a
business woman, and one tough lady. It’s
one thing to write and another to know how to make the most of it. She does that with class and dignity.
What are your current projects?
I’m
working on several books all the time.
The last two books in the Trilogy are my first priority, but I have four
others that are screaming in my head to be written, three of them in progress,
one of them just going into the first round of editing. Two of them are contemporary romances and two
paranormals.
In
one story, a writer cranks out a book series of two lovers that meet again and
again through various lifetimes… While
the heroine doesn’t realize that she is really writing down memories, her
publisher, in reading the books, begins to have flashbacks of events pages
beyond where he left off; things he isn’t sure he wants to remember or
relive. Should he tell her that the
ecstasy and agony she assigns her characters is/was another reality? Should he let her invade this life again, not
knowing if it will be wonderful or torturous?
But does he really have a choice?
They don’t call it destiny for nothing.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Tell
your story. It’s yours;
in your head. Others will tell you what to change, and how
they think it could be better. Some of
that advice is good. Listen and take
what you can honestly agree with, discuss it with someone whose opinion you
trust. Don’t change your story into
someone else’s story, leaving only the ghost of your premise. In the end, you have to please you and your
readers. Focus on that and be available
to them!
Fun question: If you could travel anywhere where would you go and why?
I’d
love to travel all through Europe. My
ancestry is European and I’d love to explore the entire continent.

Aymes grew up in the Mid-Western United States and was educated at a private
university. She is divorced with one daughter, has a B.S.B.A. degree in
business/marketing and began writing as a way to network a business venture.
Soon, writing turned into her passion and morphed all other career goals.

The book sounds really great.
I'd go almost anywhere,just to learn about a different
culture and there fascinating history.
