My Review
After reading, Ignite, the first book in the Midnight Fire Series, I dived right into reading "Simmer".
"Simmer" picks up from "Ignite.
Kira has graduated from high school, and now is taking a year off before she attends school.  She's off to go to Sonnyville with Luke (her trainer and her best friend).  She's ready to meet people just like her (well sort of).  Kira is a special kind of conduit because she's part Protector and part Punisher.  There's never been any one like her for the past thousands of years.  Every conduit out there is afraid of her kind because they really can't explain what she is.  Luke is there for her when she arrives to Sonnyville.  She is forced to leave Tristan, so he can find Diana.  Diana of course is still trying to kill Kira.
When Kira arrives at Sonnyville, everyone is fascinated about her.  They want to see what she is capable of.  Kira ends up butting heads with one of the councilman though, who ends up being family.
Once there in Sonnyville, she has to prove herself.  Her best friend Luke is there to help her. Kira learns though from Luke's sister that he has feelings for her.  Luke's sister doesn't want Luke getting hurt.
Trouble is coming for Kira though.  Vampires have found out where she is and now she's putting every one at risk at Sonnyville.  Tristan is there to help her finally...but now she's stuck between Tristan her boyfriend and Luke her best friend who won't admit he has feelings for her.
Kira in "Simmer" realizes she has several new abilities.  One of them being able to hear inside of Luke's head.  It can be a good ability...but sometimes awful one.
On top of everything, she is on a mission to find out if her Mom is alive.  She finally knows the story behind her Mom and Dad and what may have happened, but she really needs to find out the truth.
"Simmer" definitely helps clarify more what Kira is and what may happen to Kira with her abilities.  I love the fact, that Kaitlyn explained a little more about the conduits and why they are scared of Kira.  I also loved the twists and turns with when Kira met family in Sonnyville and also at the ending.  Definitely wasn't expecting that kind of twist to the story.  It did have a cliff hanger at the end, and I love cliff hangers.
In "Ignite" there were several spelling errors, but in "Simmer" not so much, which is a plus.  =)  That was the only flaw I really saw in Simmer.
This is a good young adult series.  It definitely has another twist to vampires unlike the usual paranormal books out there and who can kill vampires.  "Simmer" has finally grew into the love triangle mess like usual love stories have when it comes to two guys having feelings for the main female character.  I think I fell more into Luke in "Simmer" then I did with "Ignite".  "Ignite" it was all about sexy, Tristan, but in "Simmer", Luke becomes the shining star. At least that's my opinion.
I'm glad to finally know a little more wants going on and I can't wait to find out what happens next.
I recommend this book to any YA reader out there who loves reading different twists in the paranormal world.
Be prepared for some amazing fight scenes between the conduits and vampires.  Let's just say I'm glad conduits aren't real.  Kira is the most feared one though...and I'm wondering how she is going to hold up in the next book.

Not a fan of the cover and with three moons, it doesn't sound like I'll be swept off my feet with this one.
