To ALL our followers....It is time for Book Lovin' Mamas to make the switch from Blogger to Wordpress.

We do not want to wake up one day and notice that we cannot logon to our blog due to Blogger changing its policies.

We have worked too hard to have that happen...so it is long overdue, we have moved over to our domain.

It will make it easier for YA'LL to find us.

We have already started to post over at the new site...and August 1st will be official day we say GOODBYE to this site for good.

Summer Lovin’

I love summer. I always have. I have strong memories of my summers as a child and teen. Swimming and playing all day. Catching lightening bugs at night. Summer has always represented a sort of opportunity to me, it’s such a vivid time of year with such strong imagery.

I’m a huge fan of the “Summer Romance.” In real life and in fiction. I think of summer and I’m immediately consumed by ideas of warmth and heat. Love and lust. The extended days, lack of structure and basic rule of bedtime, curfew and regular meals all seem to disappear. I especially love the pool and mine is a hot mess. Hunky college-aged life guard roam the deck shirtless and tan. The flirtations between teens over the diving board and the rowdy volleyball games made for fun. I love all the skin and the smell of sunscreen, chlorine and sweat. The horrible tattoos, the ill-fitting bikini’s, never-ending gossip and the cougars on the prowl.

Summer fun isn’t limited to the swimming pool. I also love the beach, with its noisy waves and bright colors. Surfers wearing skin tight wet-suits or low riding trunks. Skim boarders performing tricks. The intense heat along with the sticky sea water drying on crispy skin…everything about summer assaults the senses. Images of Grease conjure in my mind, when Sandy met Danny and everything was right before everything went terribly wrong and then they ended up with their HEA in a flying car and slutty pants. By the way, the HEA? Happened in the summer.

See? Summer is perfect.

This is the time of year when boys meet girls and women attract men. Sundresses and shorts and flip-flops and T-shirts all come out of the closet. Picnics and cook-outs give people the opportunity to meet, allowing for new relationships.

I’ve written several books about summer and the opportunities that arise this time of year. Last year during a trip to the beach I was struck and inspired to write my first New Adult story, Serial Summer, based a little bit on family history and a lot about location, and even more about a fictional summer romance combining all of those. I’ve got another slightly dirty novella written under a different penname that amps up summer fantasies to another level (message me and I’ll direct you to my super-secret penname). I’m currently finishing up a new one, another New Adult that allows me to wallow in college-year daydreams of first loves, second chances and getting things right.

What are your favorite summer reads? Pass them along because I’d love something new. In the meantime I’ll be over here, hiding behind my big glasses absorbing summer.
