Dark Kings #3
September 25, 2012
Dawn's Desire
For centuries, the immortals knows as the Dragon Kings have hidden their shapeshifting powers from the world. But when a mortal enemy threatens to expose them, the warrior Banan must leave his secret lair in the Highlands, risk his life for the dragons within – and resist the temptations of human love…
Jane Holden has never considered herself beautiful. But when the impossibly handsome Banan casts his gaze upon her, smoldering with sensuality, she feels like the sexiest woman on earth. Banan, however, is a man on a mission. He refuses to succumb to this modern woman’s charms – or his own desires. Two of his warrior brethren have already surrendered to forbidden love. But as the danger closes in, Banan realizes that he needs to possess Jane – mind, body, and soul. For she is more than his match.
She is his destiny…
“I’m waiting for my driver,” she said to fill the silence. Then inwardly cringed.
She was always saying the wrong things around men. She should be flirting, but Jane didn’t know how to flirt. She wasn’t coy or beguiling. She hated the games people played, and just wanted to find a man she could be herself around.
Every fall, ditzy moment, and disaster she had.
His half smile grew, crinkling the corners of his gray eyes. “That would be me. I’m Banan.”
“Banan,” she repeated, letting the name roll through her mind. She liked the name.
He gently guided her to where he had parked the Mercedes. “You must be Jane Holden.”
“Yes.”
He opened the car door, and she easily slid into the back seat. “I’ll get you to the airport in plenty of time.”
Jane smiled as she rested her head against the back of the seat. With a grin like Banan’s directed at her, for the first time in her life she didn’t feel like a Plain Jane.
And she had managed to walk to the car and get in it without incident. Maybe the day was looking up.
Banan
Banan has never had a problem using humans to help further hide the Dragon Kings. Not once has he ever thought twice about lying regarding who he was to get what he wants. After all, he'd been one of the Kings who had fought to save mankind.
But all that changes the moment he sees Jane Holden. It's his duty to get close to her and discover any secrets she might have regarding the Kings, but when her life is threatened, Banan doesn't hesitate to save her. Or show her who he really is.

My Review:
"Dawn's Desire" picks up where "Night's Awakening" left off at.
Banan is playing the role of the new driver for PureGems where Elena works at. The Dragon Kings are trying to find out who at PureGems wanted Elena and her boss to explore their land. Someone must know the truth behind them, so they need to find who the person is and quiet them.
Elena is inside her company doing her job and finding out who may be behind why she went with her boss Sloan, while Banan, Guy, and Rhys patrol outside the building and sneak around in some of the employers homes and trail them to find out the truth.
Of course in the middle of it all, Jane Holden, who is an American trying to keep her job with PureGems since her boss tends to be a jerk to her, gets caught up with what is going on. The boss she's working for could be the trouble maker the Dragon Kings are looking for.
Jane who always was considered 'plain Jane' never saw herself as beautiful. In fact, she always considered herself a disaster since she was always being clumsy. When she comes across Banan though, sparks are going to fly.
Now Banan, must find out if Jane is apart of the problem, or is she just has clueless as them.
When Jane ends up accidentally over hearing something she was not supposed, she has to consider if PureGems is really a job to keep or not.
Banan in the mean time is going to either find out if Jane is behind it all or have to protect her from the truth.
My thoughts on "Dawn's Desire" are of course it was another 5 moon rating from Donna Grant. I love this world Donna has created for the Dark Kings and I really, really want more about after ALL 3 short novellas.
Banan is a FAVE of mine now after reading his book. He is one dragon king who is very protective of Jane and he knew the risks of being with Jane, but he managed to get over it rather quickly then the other Dragon Kings. He knew from the moment, he met Jane, that it would be hard to get over her.
Jane is a very quiet and klutzy female, who I actually can click with right away. (being the quiet, timid, klutz myself sometimes) She also has become a fave lead female character out of all the books.
I'm wanting to know who the guy is at the end of the book who is behind outing the Dragon Kings now. Donna kind of left us hanging. And I also want to learn more about the leader of the Dragon Kings, Constantine. =) He has fascinated me since Book 1.
I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers, dragon shifter lovers, and Donna Grant fans. You'll definitely enjoy this book and the first two short novellas as well.
Just a quick note...ALL 3 covers to the Dark Kings are HOT!! I definitely hope these get made into paperbacks soon so I can buy them for my personal library at home and my hubby can be mad at me drooling over them. =)

Night's Awakening
(Dark Kings #2)
by: Donna Grant
Publishing Date: 8/28/12
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Source: Bought for Kindle
Description:
Fueled by dragon magic, the dark immortal warriors were never meant to feel human desire, much less fall in love. But when Guy, a member of an ancient order of shape-shifting warriors, meets Elena Griffin—a mere mortal whose beauty and blind ambition shakes him to his core—all bets are off…
Having left America to explore the Scottish Highlands, Elena suddenly finds herself lost in a dark cave—alone, injured, and utterly hopeless…until Guy appears from out of nowhere. Is she dreaming her own rescue when she falls into his arms? A man—and a passion—this strong is too good to be true. It’s only a matter a time before she learns the truth about the flames in his heart. And the dragon in his soul…

My Review:
I got up in the middle of the night to make sure my pre-order of "Night's Awakening" downloaded to my Kindle. I think I squealed just a bit once I saw it officially. =)
I even decided to stay up just a little bit to read it, although I was exhausted from the day before. I was determined to read Guy's story.
Elena is off exploring with her boss, Sloan, who wants to go caving on private land. Elena knows something is up with her boss because supposedly Sloan has never been in the caves they're exploring, but for some reason she's getting around really easily.
Before she knows it, Elena finds herself alone in the cave and injured...until three men come to her rescue...or actually come to find out why she is on their land.
The three men who come upon Elena are determined to find out why Elena is in their caves and why her boss felt the need to go searching without permission. Now they have to interrogate her to find out the truth, but also heal her in the mean time since she's injured.
Guy one of the guys who helped Elena is feeling very attracted to her and he should not be. He is determined to know why she was in the caves and of course try to prove her innocence.
My thoughts on "Night's Awakening" was that it captured my attention just like the first one did. Let's just say, hubby was getting annoyed with me at dinner when we went out to eat and I would not put down my Kindle to eat. I kept telling him just one more minute I will be finished. =)
I love Guy in this book. I thought Hal stole my heart, but for some reason Guy has become a favorite of mine. I clicked with him and actually felt sorry when he asked Elena a certain question towards the end of the book. I was about to go through the book and slap Elena silly if she didn't give him a better answer.
Elena plays a major role in this book and iI loved the cliff-hanger at the end. Now I really want to know what is going on with the dragons and who is behind everything. (won't tell...because I will give it away to any one who wants to read this novella)
I loved the chemistry between Guy and Elena...and let's just say they have some steamy scenes together. (One scene involving water) =)
I'm so glad Donna wrote these books because I love dragon shifters and I can not get enough of the men she wrote in these books. I really hope I get to read some more of Constantine in the next book (I really want to know more about him). Oh and Tristan...can we finally find out who he is and why he is the way he is. I'm REALLY interested in him.
If you love dragon shifters, you'll definitely want to check out the Dark Kings. =) The third book releases next month and this gal has already pre-ordered it. Have you?
I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers, dragon shifter lovers, and Donna Grant fans (or readers who have always wanted to read Donna Grant's book). You definitely need to read these e-novellas. You won't regret it one bit.

Oh how I love this cover! I think I may have drooled a little the first time I saw it! My reading list is ginormous but I have every intention of setting everything aside when the books in this series release (which will be July 31, 2012)! I love Donna Grant so I know they'll be great books but after seeing these covers...well I can't see the harm in reading these by their covers! :)
Fueled by ancient magic—and enflamed by human desire—the
Dragon King known as Hal can transform himself at will into one of the
legendary winged creatures he is sworn to protect. But one thing he can never
do is fall in love…with a mortal woman.
FranJessca:
I came across this cover on Book Monster Reviews and fell in LOVE with it. I'm looking forward to this book and the others also. The first book "Dark Craving" is supposed to come out next month. Whose buying it? This Book Mama is. =) I'm buying the paperback so I can have it on my book shelf to stare at. *sigh* Love Donna Grant's books...and her covers are to die for. =)
Love dragons tattoos...and love the cover model's back.
