1. Tell us 5 things about yourself that readers may not know about you.
1. My first career was in banking. I wasn’t a very good banker.
2. I have a second degree black belt in Kenpo karate.
3. If I had a big house in the country, I’d have a whole pack of dogs.
4. I suffer from chronic insomnia.
5. My favorite indulgence is coffee ice cream.
2. What does a typical writing day look for you?
I get the family out the door early then settle in my office to work for a couple of hours. Then it’s time for a workout, shower, and lunch Then I work until the kids come home from school. Though I admit when I’m in deadline mode, it’s common for me to disappear into my office, forget to eat or shower, and still be in my pajamas when my husband gets home from work. Deadline days can go late into the night.
3. Tell us a little bit about "Midnight Sacrifice" and why readers should check it out?
Midnight Sacrifice has the most challenging plot I’ve written so far. The Celtic ritual aspects, loads of fun to research and write, creates some unusual plot twists.
4. What was the easiest and hardest scene to write in "Midnight Sacrifice"? (without giving away too much)
The ending scenes were very emotional to write. I’ve done my job. When readers get there, they will understand. I don’t think any explanation is needed.
5. What is your favorite type of character to write? Least?
I love all my characters. Ironically, I often find the villain the easiest to write. I hope I’m not connecting strongest with killers.

My Review:
"Midnight Sacrifice" is the second book to Melinda Leigh's Midnight series and it definitely is a tear jerker, especially towards the end.
If you have no read the first book, " Midnight Exposure", you definitely should consider reading it before you dive into "Midnight Sacrifice" due to Melinda having the second book pick up after the first book. At least set four months after the first book.
Danny Sullivan's sister is now living back in Pennsylvania with her fiancé, Reed, and she's trying to get on with her life, but her brothers want to find the other culprit that tried to kill their sister. Danny is Jayne's little brother, and he will do anything to protect his sister. He heads back to the small town in Maine to find out what happened to the person who kidnapped and tried to kill his sister. He also wants to find out more about Mandy, the woman he helped back four months ago and he helped save her friend, Jed.
Mandy though is trying to avoid Danny due to what is happening still in town and with her. The kidnapper that kidnapped Danny's sister is still at large and seems to be threatening Mandy and she's trying everything to go on with her life. She has her friend, Jed to look after her and help her, but she really does not want any help. She wants to run the inn that her mother cannot run right now and take care of her brother Bill.
When people start going missing again, the town starts wondering if the same person who kidnapped Jayne is at again. Danny will do anything to find that person and bring him to justice...and he will do anything to protect the woman he cannot get out of his head as well. Mandy though has a secret that may drive him away though.
Melinda Leigh did a fabulous job on continuing the story of what is happening in Maine. She gives you a lot of suspense, celtic rituals (that she goes into detail on explaining), and heated sexual tension. Not in that order of course.
I connected well with both Danny and Mandy in this story. Danny having his own issues with what happened to him in the Army and what he continues to deal with due to PTSD is definitely one male character who can get out of a tight jam and is very stubborn. He definitely had a Army stance to him and maybe being prior military myself, I loved getting to know his background and knowing what he has gone through. It made him stronger each time he went through something.
Mandy is one strong-willed female character who proved herself to even her closest friends that she could take care of herself. I loved the fact after the incident four months ago, she took it upon herself to start taking care of herself and her family. She even surprised the stubborn, Danny, when they went to the gun range and she proved she has a better shot than he does. (You go girl!) =)
This is one story that is not for the light-hearted though. You may become attach to certain characters and you may even start crying thanks to Melinda making your emotions go haywire. I knew I bawled like a baby at the ending of "Midnight Sacrifice". I should have known though that Melinda's story would make me cry. It seems I am always pulling out the tissues with her romantic suspense books.
I give this book 5 full moons and highly recommend this book and the first book to romantic suspense readers out there. I definitely recommend reading the first book before this one due to wanting to know fully what happened to the previous characters and why the story has continued on.
I definitely look forward to the next book in the series and more books from the talented Melinda Leigh. I will make sure again to have the tissues next to me for the next book before I start reading it. I totally forgot to have them this time. I have learned my lesson. =)

My Review:
Melinda Leigh writes a romantic suspense story that involves one small town of Maine being terrorized by a killer. That killer though is not your normal killer, in fact, Melinda Leigh brings you a story of a killer who wants his victims for a Celtic Ritual.
Jayne is first introduced in the story and she is in the small town of Maine to take some photos of the one person which her tabloid company wants her to find and expose. Instead she comes upon, Reed Kimball, who wants nothing to do with Jayne and rather he leave the small town. Jayne is forced to stay until she gets her story. What she does not know is that the small town may be quiet and homely, there is a killer amongst them and now he has his eyes on her and wants her.
Reed just wants to live life alone and not make many friends. His son is about to go off to college so it will be easier for him to stay to himself, but the beautiful Jayne has entranced him the minute he sees her and now he wants to find out why she is in Maine. He also has been recruited to help solve some murders that have happened in the woods. He thought he gave up his old profession, but it seems the past keeps creeping up to reveal itself.
When Jayne is attacked though and able to break free, Reed is there to help her and protect her, but he is going to have a difficult time protecting her fully, especially, when he has a secret he wants to stay hidden.
Melinda gives you a small town where everyone seems to be hiding something. She throws in twists and turns, but she gives you some very strong characters that shine over others. I clicked the most with Jayne because I have read characters like her before, and she proved to be the strongest in the story. She has gone through a lot. In fact, she's running from what happened to her in her hometown and now she is thrown into a dangerous predicament again. She can take care of herself though. Oh boy, can she take care of herself. It helps with the self defense training she has taken to help her through the dangerous scenarios she gets in. She even shocks Reed and several of the other town members with her strength.
Reed was a strong character as well, but he did not shine like Jayne did. He kept warring with himself about Jayne and I just wanted him to realize he needed to get over his secret and let it out and find his own happiness.
The major plot of the story was a shock because I have never read a book where the killer is saving his victims for later. When you find out who the killer is, you will be shocked and you will even be more shocked why the killer is doing the things he does.
Be prepared for a lot of twits and turns in the first book to the Midnight series and a lot of sexual tension between two characters. (I mean a lot of sexual tension) Reed does a better job of keeping it hidden though on how he feels for Jayne. He definitely fooled me at times.
I give this book 4.5 full moons and recommend it to fellow romantic suspense addicts out there.
