Interview with H.D. Thomson + Giveaway
1. Tell us three things about yourself that readers may not know about you.
Hmmm. That’s a hard one. I’m pretty much an open book. I’m terrified of heights. I can’t handle going to the Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls. I’m hooked on True Blood and Vampire Diaries, which probably pushed me into writing a vampire romance. The third thing would probably be that I can’t watch real scary movies (accept for the previously mentioned shows) like SAW or Paranormal Activity even though I love writing the stuff.
2. What does a typical writing day look for you?
I have my own business, Bella Media Management, which helps authors with covers, web sites, trailers, etc., and I spend most of my day focused there. The evening is usually my writing time and it works out well because night is a great atmosphere to write about things that go bump in the night.
3. Tell us a little bit about Shrouded in Illusion and why readers should check it out?
It’s about a woman who needs to protect her son and how far she will go to do just that and what sacrifices that entails. It’s also about redemption. There’s of course a sexy hero in the mix. I tried to make the plot as fast paced as possible without sacrificing the character’s development. Skye and David are both flawed in a number of ways but I instilled in Skye a deep faith and hope of saving her son from death.
4. What was the easiest and hardest scene to write in Shrouded in Illusion?
Writing the gambling scenes I think was by far the hardest because I just don’t really gamble other than poker here and there with friends. I really loved writing about the climax of the book, when everything is on the line. I loved ratcheting up the tension and hoped I managed to get the reader to want to flip through the pages as quickly as possible to find out the fate of David, Skye and her son.
5. What inspired you to write the Shrouded series?
Dean Koontz and H. G. Wells. I read one of Mr. Wells’ stories and was inspired to try a different angle. I used to read Dean Koontz all the time. He was one of my favorite authors along with Leigh Nichols. I would be so impatient to wait for either of their books to come out. What was so bizarre was that I later found out that Leigh Nichols was the pen name for Dean Koontz, so I was reading the same authors the entire time and didn’t know it!
6. What kind of research did you have to do for Shrouded in Illusion?
I’m not a gambler, so I had to do a lot of research, especially regarding the roulette wheel. With all my books, I do try to make them as realistic as possible when it comes to science and that includes telekinesis in Shrouded in Illusion. There have been a number of research projects over the years on monkey’s and telekinesis. Some of the findings I found were fascinating.
7. Do you ever suffer with writer's block and if you do, how do you deal with it?
Oh, yes, I did suffer from it. For a full year, I couldn’t write, but probably mainly because life got in the way and there just wasn’t time to do what I love. If I do feel like writer’s block is coming on, I just make myself write even if I know it is garbage. I can always go back and fix it.
8. Fun question: If you could travel back in time, which era would you travel back to and why?
That would depend if I had money or not! If I had money, then the Regency period in England. I just love regency historicals. Now if I didn’t have money or some type of wealth and I was a woman, I’d like to stick with now or the future.
9. What is up next for H.D. Thomson?
I’m actually writing a dark, vampire romance titled Kiss Me Before Dying. I’ve always loved writing the villain in my stories and giving them characteristic to make them multi-dimensional, but writing about Clayborne has been a real treat delving inside her head. She’s a very complex character and as I continue writing about her more layers are peeled back to the woman beneath.
10. Do you have anything specific you want to tell your readers?
Just that I really feel it an honor to have someone purchase one of my books and read it. I hope I am able to let them escape into a world very different than their own and they can forget their own troubles for a while.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The bedroom door had barely clicked behind me when
Samantha grabbed and shoved me toward the bed. I fell backward, and she was on
top of me, clawing at my clothes and ripping off her own. Whatever had been
going on with her all day was now clearly finding a release.
“Sam?”
She kissed me roughly and shoved her tongue into my
mouth. I groaned and pushed her back.
Though we french kissed all the time, I generally kept
her out of my mouth.
“Sam?”
Finally, she stilled. With her hands braced on my
shoulders, her eyes burned down into mine. Her anger squeezed my chest. Her
voice was strained. “Lucien, we’ll talk later. I promise. But right now I want
you, and I need you. And I need you to know it, feel it.” Her words clarified
little, but I nodded.
She unleashed herself on me, kissing and licking and
roughly nipping at my upper body all while
maintaining eye contact. I thrust my hips into her when
she lingered over my Blood Mark. I finally had to grab her hair and tug her
attention away from it.
With a groan, she reached a hand down between her legs
and worked herself as she devoured me. When I realized what she was doing, I
moaned and gripped her shoulders and rolled on top of her.
I grabbed her hand and pulled it to my mouth, then
noisily sucked on her wet fingers. I groaned at the sweet nectar of her
arousal.
“You see what you do to me, Lucien? What only you do
to me?” she rasped. “Take me, Lucien. I’m yours,” she offered as she planted
her feet flat on the mattress and pushed herself up forcefully against my
erection.
Her aggression spurred mine, and I grunted. “You want
me?” I asked as I ground myself against
her wetness. She ran a hand over the bedspread and found the
packet she’d apparently laid out earlier. She slid herself against me as she
opened it and then rolled on the condom. “God, yes,” she whimpered.
I plunged forward and filled her in one hard stroke. She
screamed and wrapped herself around
me. Hard breaths and grunts and strained curses in two
languages filled the room as we battled through Samantha’s emotions with our
bodies. She kissed me roughly and dug her nails into my flesh. The physical
pain mingled with her radiating pleasure to coax what I was sure was going to
be one of the most intense orgasms I’d ever experienced.
She came in a frenzy of screams and muscle contractions.
And then bit against the taut skin at
the base of my neck. Hard.
My fangs and release shot out at the same time. I growled
and in a blur turned my head in search of my biceps. I missed the tender skin
of her shoulder by a hair as the urge to bite down became irresistible.
Finally, I willed my fangs to retract and licked at the
wound I’d made on my arm, then slid down a little and laid my head on her
heaving breasts.
“I love you,” I whispered breathlessly.
She hugged my shoulders and combed her fingers through my
hair. “I love you, too.” We lay together, panting, for a long time. “Lucien?” I
lifted my head off her chest to look at her. “I’m ready to talk now.”

ARC Review: "Fangs for Nothing" by Erin McCarthy and Kathy Love
Fangs for Nothing
(The Fangover #2)
by: Erin McCarthy
Publishing Date: 7/2/13
Publisher: Berkley Trade
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Description:
When one of their own ties the knot with a dominatrix (no pun intended), The Impalers—a vampire rock band—are ready to party down. But trouble awaits them once again when they wake up
Attending their bandmate Saxon’s wedding seemed simple enough for Johnny Malone and Drake Hanover. But after waking up in a dominatrix’s dungeon, they realize their cash and cell phones have been stolen—along with the bride’s wedding dress and the groom. And then there’s the matter of the two women in the room
.
Loose cannon Johnny is handcuffed to Lizette, an uptight paper pusher. She wants to help save Johnny from the horrible fate in store for him at the hands of the Vampire Alliance, but he won’t sign the paperwork. Then there’s Josie, the waifish caterer from the reception, who rescues Drake from a sex swing. Josie may be cute and make a great cupcake, but Drake knows she might also be the thief. Or it could have been that gang of drag queens all dressed as Cher
.
Regardless, Johnny and Lizette need to get out of these handcuffs. Drake and Josie need to find their missing belongings. And Saxon needs to be located before the Vampire Alliance comes down on them hard.

My Review:
Ever read a book that leaves you laughing, so hard your family looks at you crazy? Yeah, this is definitely the book that did that to me.
I read the first book, The Fangover, and when I read Fangs for Nothing, I was prepared for the same kind of storyline. I was not prepared for some of the craziness that Johnny and Drake dealt with in this book though.
Erin McCarthy and Kathy Love give you the sexy Impalers again, where they have no clue what happened to them the night before. They know someone drugged them again and they want to find out who and why they did it.
You get Cher impersonators, a dungeon (that involves a sex swing, an alligator, and someone wearing chaps that involve showing off the goodies), and of course so many other obstacles that involve the Impalers having to re-trace their steps due to not remembering anything.
This time it is Johnny and Drake from the Impalers that are falling in love with the most unlikely women, who are also confused from the night before. One of the women works for the Vampire Alliance, who is in town to investigate Johnny's death and the other woman works for a catering business, who got stuck with the Impalers for some reason.
I loved this book due to its storyline and of course this time it was Johnny and Drake that got their story. I loved Drake in this book due to his personality and I loved how Johnny handled his dilemma with the Vampire Alliance. You will have to read the first book to find out what Johnny did to get him in this sticky situation in this book.
Both women in this book are what made this story even better. You have the stuck up all about the rules vampire and you have the human woman, who just wanted to make her mark in the world. Both of them are complete opposites to Johnny and Drake.
The best part in the book...was the very beginning. Seriously...I could not stop laughing on how everyone woke up after the night of being drugged.
If you like your paranormal romance with some humor, you will definitely want to read this book. I highly recommend you read the first though. Otherwise you will miss out on some of the other favorite Impalers that got their crazy story already.
I highly recommend this book and give it 5 full moons. I want some more Impalers already. I need some of these crazy New Orleans bandmates that keep me laughing at night.

Interview & Giveaway with Tammy Falkner
Welcome to our virtual tour stop of Tammy Falkner's The Magic of "I Do" Blog Tour brought to you by Sourcebooks.
1. Tell us three things about yourself that readers may not know about you. TF: 1. I am the ultimate sports mom.
2. I have more dogs than I have common sense. And I hate cats, so I only have five of them.
3. I can whistle really loudly through my teeth, but I can’t carry a tune. It’s only good for whistling at ballgames.
2. What does a typical writing day look for you?
TF: I write by the scene. I see books like scenes from a movie. When I have a scene in my head, I write it. It might take me an hour. It might take me five hours. But I can’t stop until that scene is done.
3. Tell us a little bit about The Magic "I Do" and why readers should check it out?
TF: Lately, all my heroes tend to fall in love immediately and they spend a whole book trying to convince the heroine of why she should trust him, love him, want him, be his, etc. Finn is the perfect hero, and Claire is the perfectly resistant foil to his charms. She’s headstrong and beautiful, but that’s not even why he loves her. Add in some danger, a troublesome garden gnome, and sex at the beginning of the book, and it’s a win!
4. What inspired you to write the Faerie novels?
TF: I had already written vampyres and Lycans writing as Lydia Dare. I started thinking of all the things that could live and interact with the ton, and faeries seemed to fit!
5. If you could be one of your characters, who would you be and why?
TF: I would be Ronald’s love interest. (The garden gnome.)
6. How did you come up with the names of the characters? ( I love Lord Phineas Tremble's name)
TF: Honestly, I don’t spend any time at all on names. I skim through a book or a name website until one jumps out at me.
7. Who designed the covers of the Faerie books? (They all are very stunning and beautiful)
TF: Sourcebooks has designers who take care of all that. Sometimes they do custom photo shoots! Did you know the heroines on both of my books are former Playboy models? True story.
8. Fun Question: If paranormal creatures were real, what creature would you want to be and why?
TF: The garden gnome. He gets into all sorts of mischief.
9. What is up next for Tammy Falkner?
TF: Next up is THE MAGIC BETWEEN US in January, and I have a New Adult book, TALL, TATTED AND TEMPTING that will be out in June.
10. Do you have anything specific you want to say to your readers?
TF: Thanks so much for hanging out with me today. I hope you love and appreciate the magic as much as I do.
