Author Interview: Stephanie Chong

Please give a warm welcome to the fabulous Author, Stephanie Chong.
If you've never heard of her and her books, The Company of Angels:  Book 1- Where Demons Fear to Tread and Book 2-The Demoness of Waking Dreams, you're about to find out a little about her and her amazing books.
She took time out of her busy schedule to answer some interview questions.  Her newest release, "The Demoness of Waking Dreams" is out today, so make sure you buy yourself a copy or at least add it to your TBR list.  =)  You definitely do not want to miss out on an amazing book.

1.  How did you come up with the The Company of Angel Series?

The original idea for the series came mostly from my yoga practice.  I took a yoga workshop back in 2008, where the teacher talked about the movement of the arms like wings.  Serena, the heroine of Where Demons Fear to Tread (Book I) is a yoga teacher/Guardian angel.
However, each book has a different heroine and hero.  Each book tells a different love story.  What unites the books is the central idea of angels working together in a “Company.”

2.  What does a typical writing day look for you? (any traditions...do you listen to music? etc.)
A typical writing day starts off with freewriting in the morning.  I don’t listen to music – I think best when it’s quiet.  Sometimes my most inspired writing happens late at night, when my mental filter is completely turned off.

3.  What was the hardest scene to write in "Where Demons Fear to Tread?"
The first scene.  I rewrote the opening many times – there are endless versions of it.

4.  Fun question: What are Serena and Julian up to nowadays? (I secretly have a crush on Julian)  =)
Working with the Company of Angels and living out their Happily Ever After!  They both make an appearance in The Demoness of Waking Dreams.  And Julian would be flattered to hear about your crush.  ;)

5.  How many books are planned for "The Company of Angels"?
The “Company of Angels” series is planned as a trilogy.  Keep your eyes out for Book III in 2013!

6.  When you're not writing, what are your hobbies?
Both my husband and I are crazy about our pug, Dexter.  I mean *crazy*.  I never thought I would become one of those over-the-top pet owners.  But when we got Dexter, he changed our lives.  He’s two years old now, and brings us a lot of joy.
I should probably change my bio to this: “When she’s not writing, Stephanie enjoys yoga, traveling and outdoor adventures pug care.”  Before the pug, “outdoor adventures” meant skiing, snorkeling and learning to surf.  These days, I’ve traded in skiing and snorkeling for trips to the dog beach and dog-friendly hiking. Oh, and nowadays the pug is the one who’s learning to surf.
I told you we’re crazy.

7.  Who are some of your favorite authors?
I have really diverse tastes.  Gabriel Garcia Marquez.  Suzanne Collins.  Kerrelyn Sparks.  Maggie Shayne.  Michael Ondaatje.  Those are just a few – I could go on forever!

8.  Can you tell us a little bit about your next book "The Demoness of Waking Dreams"?
It’s the story of Luciana, who is a character from book I.  Luciana is a Rogue demoness who has returned to her home city of Venice, to carry out her annual hunt for a human sacrifice to the devil.  Guardian angel Brandon Clarkson is sent to track her down.  An ex-cop with a tough-guy exterior, Brandon is highly intelligent and an expert at his job: safeguarding humankind.  When they meet, an illicit passion ignites that threatens to destroy them both.
Readers don’t have to read the books in order – each one stands alone, although some of the characters cross over.

Fun Questions:

- Coffee or Tea – Right now, tea.

- Sunrise or Sunset – Sunset.  I’m a night owl.

- Cats or Dogs – Dogs!

- If you could travel to anywhere in the world for one day, where would you go and what would you do? – This is such a boring answer: I’ve traveled a lot, but right now I’m happiest at home, spending time with my husband and the pug.

Thank you again, Stephanie for letting me interview you for Book Lovin' Mamas.  =)
Looking forward to Book 3 in 2013.

Check out my Review of The Demoness of Waking Dreams below this blog post.  You definitely do not want to miss out on The Company of Angels.

I will always have a crush on Julian from "Where Demons Fear to Thread"no matter what.  So jealous that Serena gets to be with him.  *sigh*

Stephanie Chong
Stephanie worked as a lawyer at a top-tier Canadian firm and completed five university degrees before landing her dream job: romance novelist.  Her degrees include a J.D. and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, and a Master’s in Creative Writing from Oxford University.
When she’s not writing, Stephanie enjoys yoga, traveling and outdoor adventures.  She lives in Vancouver with her husband and their pug, Dexter.

This is why I love yoga, lots of great ideas happen when you're in a peaceful state. LOL
