Review: "Rogue Rider" by Larissa Ione

Rogue Rider
(Lords of Deliverance #4)
Publishing Date: 11/20/12
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Source: Netgalley

Description:
They're here.
They ride.
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Born of a match between good and evil, four siblings stand between hell's minions and everything they want to destroy. They are the Lords of Deliverance, and they have the power to ward off Doomsday . . . or let it ride . . .
ROGUE RIDER
Jillian Cardiff came to this remote mountain town to forget the demon attack that almost killed her. Instead, she rescues-and falls for-a gorgeous stranger who has no memory of anything other than his name. Handsome, charming, and protective, Reseph seems like the kind of man whom Jillian can trust. But with hints of a troubling history of his own, he's also the kind of man who can be very dangerous . . .
Reseph may not know why he mysteriously appeared in Jillian's life, but he knows he wants to stay. Yet when Jillian's neighbors are killed, and demon hunters arrive on the scene, Reseph fears that he's putting Jillian in danger. And once it's revealed that Reseph is also Pestilence, the Horseman responsible for ravaging the world, he and Jillian must face the greatest challenge of all: Can they forget the horrors of a chilling past to save the future they both desire?

My Review:
First off, let me just say so sorry I am to not have had this book read/reviewed before it was published.  Family issues took precedence and of course I was neglecting school work.  (Never a good thing...I had to play catch up because of family issues)
I am so glad I read "Rogue Rider" when I could and slowly because Reseph has been a FAVE character of mine since the first book.  Even though the first 3 books he was Pestilence.

Jillian Cardiff is trying to get over what she went through several months ago when the demons started showing up.  She was one of the survivors...at least physically...but not emotionally.
She decided to live alone on a mountain with her animals.  When she is out doing her chores, she comes upon a man in the snow who is naked.  She know she should call someone to help her with him, but the phones are done and the snow has made it difficult to travel.
When the man comes to, he does not remember his name or where he came from.  He does not even know how he came to be in the snow naked.  He does have thoughts in his head that tell him his name is Reseph.
When demons come to Jullian's town, Reseph believes he has something to do with him, but he's not sure why.  Jullian is not sure what is happening, but all she knows is the demons showed up when Reseph showed up...can she really trust him?
In the meantime, Reseph's family believe's Pestilence/Reseph to be dead due to what happened in "Lethal Rider".  Reaver, the Horsemen's Watcher, knows where Reseph is and what happened to him since he helped get him there.

I do not want to give away any spoilers because I will give away too much.
I can say this, Larissa Ione definitely has a fan for life because she can write a book that sucks me into the pages.  I actually felt Reseph's pain when his memory came back.  The poor horseman.  =(
I know, I know...he was a baddie for such a long time, but that was Pestilence, not Reseph.
Truths came out in this book and they definitely were shocking.  Oh boy...was I in shock...but one of them...I kinda figured out and I was one happy reader when it finally revealed.  =)
Julian is now a FAVE out of all the female characters from the Lords of Deliverance that I definitely connected with.  She was not a wimpy heroine...she helped Reseph and she definitely was destined to meed Reseph from the beginning.  He needed someone to knock him around in the head and he met his match with her.
There is one question that I need answered after this book and that is what happened to Harvester?  I can tell it will be answered in Reaver's book...but I am still confused with her character.  She is nice one minute and then a downright cold heart b***h the next.

LOVE, Larissa Ione's writing style.  She is one of my FAVE Authors who is difficult not to stay up late at night to finish a book and I definitely enjoyed Reseph's book.  (see...a trend with me yet..on the bad boys who turn good)
Her Horsemen of the Apocalypse...is definitely one of my top FAVE series.  You can tell from Larissa's writing, that she does a lot of research into her books.  And can I just say...I'm so excited to read her next Demonica book....(how I've missed that series).

Larissa Ione...I really think you love to have your readers go through their emotions when reading your books though.  I definitely will have to re-read this series again because I know I will miss the Horsemen & of course Horsewoman (sorry Limos).
Reseph's story was perfect for him.  The ending definitely was EPIC and here is another thing...WTH is up with the WARG that Julian got?  (sorry...not telling anyone about that...will give away something important)
If you love Larissa Ione and have not read this series yet...what are you waiting for?  This is a MUST-READ.
If you love the paranormal romance genre, love angels and demons and stories about saving the world from a apocalypse...this definitely needs to go on your to-read list on Goodreads.
Did I forget to mention the steamy scenes and the action that Larissa puts into her books.  She definitely levels them all out and puts them in places...that you will either have to take a cold shower or curse the bad guys out.  (at least that's what I did)
You will definitely miss the Lords of Deliverance once you are done reading...but thank goodness, Larissa has new books coming out in the near future to quench our thirst.  She also tends to make us fall in love with future characters.  =)

I received a complimentary copy of "Rogue Rider" from the Publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

My Review:
I was going to wait to type up my review until my partner in crime read "Lethal Rider", but the anticipation of my review has been haunting me.  =) I type haunting because I've been dreaming about this book ever since I read it.
I came across Larissa Ione's Demonica books one day a couple years ago at Barnes & Noble.  I skimmed through the books descriptions, and then proceeded to grab them up.  I read them ALL pretty quickly, that I was craving more of her writing after I was done.
I was excited when she announced a new series...Lords of Deliverance.
Lethal Rider is the third book in the series.
Larissa never disappoints with her books at all.  She keeps me enthralled from the first chapter to the last chapter.  Once I'm at the last chapter though, I want more.
"Lethal Rider" is finally about Thanatos aka Death, the fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse.   He has been stuck in a paralyzed state since the end of last book "Immortal Rider".  His brother and sister had to immobilize him otherwise he would've slaughtered every one and anyone had his sister's Wedding.  He was used by Regan Cooper who is part of the Aegis organization.  The organization wanted her to seduce Thanatos and become pregnant with his child.  They were told the child would save the apocalypse from happening.  Thanatos had been celibate for thousands of years thinking his celibacy was the key to him not turning evil like his brother Reseph, aka Pestilence.  Needless to day, he was on a war path after he realized what Regan did to him.
When Thanatos is finally able to get out of his paralyzed state, he tracks down Regan for revenge.  Unfortunately, others have been tracking her down to kill her.  When Thanatos gets a hold of her finally, he is upset that no one bothered to tell him she is pregnant.
I could go on and on about this book, but I do not want to spoil the book to anyone who hasn't read it like my partner in crime.  "Lethal Rider" had a lot of other parts in the book that left you hanging and it will pick up next in Reseph's book.
My thoughts on "Lethal Rider" was I really enjoyed reading Thanatos book finally.  He has fascinated me since the first book "Eternal Rider".  He can go from joking with you one second to turning into a dark, dangerous immortal next.  Let's just say, if you piss him off, you better start running...but you most likely won't make it because he'll find you.  Anyone who is in his way when he turns into "Death" will be killed because he can't control himself.
Regan was a little annoying at times, but it's to be expected.  She is pregnant...and being pregnant can make you very hormonal.  VERY hormonal!  She did have some very strong qualities in her that I adored.  She didn't like being told she couldn't do certain things.  She's one tough woman and she'll stand up to any man to prove she can do what they do.
Thanatos and Regan were perfect for each other becauseThanatos needed Regan, she helped balance him out.  She could control him to be calm.  You'll find out in this book Regan has special powers and Larissa will tell you how Regan's powers came to be.
I loved how everything came together and who ended up being the BAD guy at the end.  Wow!  Let's just say the horsemen were surprised too.  No, Reseph is not the only bad guy.  =)
In "Lethal Rider", the angels played a significant role into the storyline.
I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers, fans of the four horseman of the apocalypse, and of course diehard fans of Larissa Ione.
You'll have a hard time putting down this book and the first two books.
If your a Reseph fan like I am...you'll get a sneak peek into his book "Rogue Rider" which can't come fast enough.

My Review:
This is a short book on Larissa's latest series, The Lords of Deliverance.  You'll get to read how she came up with the four horsemen, some demon characteristics..etc, details on the horsemen of course (and some other characters)...Larissa also pulls you into a short story on how the horsemen parents...well...made the horsemen.  =)
Don't want to give away who they are if you haven't read the series...or read this book.  Larissa even answers some reader questions that we've been patiently waiting to know.
Then...the big whopper is when you'll get a sneak peek into the latest book "Lethal Rider".  I definitely love sneak peeks.  Makes me want the next book right away...which I just got and will be spending time reading it.
If you're a huge fan of Larissa Ione and want to know more about the Lords of Deliverance Series, you definitely need to read this short ebook.  It fills you in things that you may have been confused about.
I found it fascinating to read about Larissa because I found out she used to live in VA, her hubby is in the Coast Guard, and she likes to dye her hair whatever color, whenever she feels like it.  =)
My fave part of the book was reading the key player background information.  Love finding out more information on the characters I'm reading and I'm falling in love with.
This is definitely a re-read whenever I need a refresher on the series.
It's only $0.99...so hurry up and get your copy.  =)

My Review:
I do not how many times I'm going to type this...but I love Larissa Ione's writing style.  I love the stories that she creates.  =)  She's one of the FAVES that has taken over my bookshelves and my Kindle.
Here's the deal on "Immortal Rider".  This is the book about Limos and Arik.  The first chapter you read, you are in Arik's head.  He's fascinated with Limos and can not stop thinking about her.  Limos approaches Arik and wants to fight with him.  Instead...Arik kisses her...what happens next.  He's taken to Hell because...ummm...well, Limos is supposed to hook up with Satan himself.  Whoever kisses Limos...is faced with being tortured until the guy cracks with saying Limos name.  Arik is put through Hell (literally), while down in Hell, he refuses to break though.  Limos is trying to get him back some how.  Arik manages to get himself out of Hell.  He's not the same.  Limos takes it upon herself to try to get Arik back to his original self.  It's not easy for her because he still thinks he's down in Hell and the demons are messing with him.  She even sends for Runa (who is Arik's sister...who I remember from the Demonica Series).  I even got a taste of Shade again.  *sigh* I miss my UG guys/gals.
Larissa, takes you back and forth to Limos, Arik, Thanatos, Regan (if you want to know who she is...you'll have to read this book), Ares (get to read about him again..Yay!!) and of course Reseph (or rather Pestilence) who still is a ASS! (but I love him...looking forward to his book).
You learn a lot about Arik in this book and what he went through as a kid and what his sister went through.  You also get a glimpse of how Limos is and what made her and her brothers become the horsemen.  Yup...that is a interesting one. She also goes through hell in this book because Pestilence.  (what a friggin' jerk...Grrr!)
I loved how everything is coming together so far for the Lords of Deliverance.  I understand a better on what is going on and the history of why the horsemen came to be.  I just love how Larissa makes everything flow in her stories.  She also prepares you a little on what is going to happen next.
I recommend this book for the paranormal romance lovers out there, the die hard Larissa Ione fans (like myself), and everyone who has been thinking about trying out this series...but has not gotten a chance yet.  (What are you waiting for?)
I'm not giving anything else away in this book...because I hate spoiling a book that someone wants to read or is thinking about reading.
I'm on to reading "Lethal Rider" now on my my Kindle.  I waited early this morning to see when it would download...Gotta love Amazon...1am...I was surprised to see it there.  *Sigh*

My Review:
I know I'm behind the curve on reading this series...but I'm one of those readers who has a hard time waiting for the next book coming out, especially with Larissa's books.  She's an AMAZING Author.
My partner in crime, Anna, sold me on reading this now since she told me that the Demonica characters get mentioned and end up in the first book.  OH HECK YES!!
I'm a HUGE fan of Larissa's Demonica Series.  I actually cried when I finished reading "Sin Undone" because I knew it was the last one at the time.
Now onto what I thought and a little sneak into the first book in the series.  It's a great start to the series.  I love how Larissa explains the background of the characters in the beginning.  She introduces you to the four horsemen and how they came to be known at the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Ares, Limos, Thanatos, and Reseph.
She literally takes you for a ride in this book.  I fell head over heels for the male character in this book.  Love a male lead that has to be tamed.  I also love a strong heroine, which is exactly what Cara is.
Cara has had a rough life, she has no immediate family to go to for support.  She's on her own in South Carolina.  She's about to lose her house because she just lost her job.  She gave up her Veterinary Clinic due to certain circumstances.  She got dumped by her boyfriend who saw her as damaged goods after one day of coming home to her house being broken into and she was tortured by the home invaders.  She ends up killing one because of her special powers, she has no control over (you'll have to read the book to find out what those powers are).   She's been traumatized over it ever since.  One day she gets a knock on the door where she has to save a dog's life...well..she think it's a dog.  She ends up not only saving his life, but being bonded to him.  She then gets invaded again by strange men who think she is a demon.  All she wants to know is what the hell is going on and why they think she is a demon.  Then comes a scary, sexy man with armor who just appears out of nowhere and kidnaps her from the invaders.  He wants to know how she saved the "hellhound" (dog) and where it went because the person or thing that took him, he's been searching for.
She has no idea the man who saved her from the invaders is actually going to change her world.
Before we are even introduced to Cara, we get a glimpse of Ares, the male lead, but I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't read the book.  Let's just say he's had a rough life too....and that's a LONG rough life.  I felt sorry for Ares when I found his story.
Ares is one of the four horsemen.  He's also known as War.  All four horsemen have a seal, if broken, they will become the evil demon that has control of them.  Ares is War...so he would end up causing war and fights everywhere on the Earth.  He's trying to prevent his seal from being broken and that is why he comes across Cara who has came across what he needs to find.  Ares brother, whose seal has been broken is trying to crack Ares seal.  Ares is trying to prevent it...but of course it's never easy.  He doesn't want a Apocalypse happening...but it seems it may end up coming to be if he doesn't get his ass together to stop it.  He has the other horsemen, his other brother and sister to help him, but they also have to protect their seals.
Now...no more explaining the book.  I will end up giving away the good parts and I do not want to spoil for anyone.
I literally finished this book in two days.  I would've finished it in one day, but I have a teething baby at home and a six year old who steals me away to play her Michael Jackson Wii game (which I love playing).  When I did get a chance to read the book, there was no stopping me.  I would be cooking, cleaning, just walking around the house with the book in my hand.  I can do two to three things at once...damnit.
I really enjoyed this book and I'm waiting for my library to supply me with the second one since my hubby says I've spent too much money on books in the last few months, that I'm cut off for a little bit.  Damn him!!
I recommend this book to anyone who adores Larissa's writing style ( like I do...she'll always be a FAVE), loves paranormal romances, and loves a new storyline that involves preventing an apocalypse from happening.
Oh...and if you've read the Demonica Series and miss the characters, well they play apart in this book too.  Let's just say...I'm definitely getting what happened in the last book to the Demonica Series now.
I look forward to Limos, the sister horse(woman) next.  =)  I already know who she will be hooking up with after reading this book.
