Movie Review - "The Hunger Games" (WARNING: May contain a few spoilers)
Unlike most people, I didn't fall all over this series. It seemed kinda brutal to me, you know the whole children killing children for sport thing. But since I'm pretty much addicted to reading, and my friends all loved the books, I had to read it just to say I did. It was exactly like I assumed and totally freaked me out but in a good way. I was literally on the edge of my seat through the entire book.
Once I found out they were making a movie I was pretty skeptical. I mean how can they have all of that violence in a movie targeting teens? But I was pleasantly surprised. It was actually a pretty good movie. The acting was good, compared to some books to movies out there. The wardrobe was fantastic, so much like I pictured and the capitol too. They really captured those parts very well.
There were a few things I wish they would have done more accurately. They didn't do a very good job of explaining the rations and adding more names to the drawing. They tried but for someone who hasn't read the book, there's no explanation. My husband hasn't read the book and he was clueless about that whole thing. I also wish they had explained the servants, known as the Avox. They didn't even have that in the movie. The biggest part they excluded was the ending of the games. I don't want to give anything away for those who haven't read the book but the big ending to the games was totally different. They were computer generated instead of 'turned' like in the book. Kinda made me mad because in my opinion that was a pretty big thing.
There are more things I could nit pick but I won't do that. I'll just finish with saying it really is a good movie, they did a wonderful job of creating the whole HG world and found some pretty good actors to add to that. I'm glad I read the book first though, now I need to read the other two books so I'll finally know what happens. It's time to stop putting that off. LOL
