Description
Bloodhounds mate for life.

Merrick Wood is a wild man—literally. For six decades he’s stalked the Rocky Mountains as a bloodhound, fighting a losing battle against the vampires who have taken over most of the American frontier. He’s sure he’s seen it all, until an airship crash leaves him caught behind enemy lines with a concussion and a mate he doesn’t remember taking.

Paralee Colton is a wild woman. She enjoys her freedom and makes a good living flying over the Deadlands. Until, that is, bloodsuckers shoot her down and she's forced to deal with an irritatingly attractive man who isn't a man at all.

Trapped together in the wilderness, Merrick and Paralee must fight to find a safe camp before the new moon drags Merrick into three days of sexual madness. But as enticing as Paralee finds the bloodhound, she doesn’t realize the stakes of their courtship game. Getting out of the Deadlands is only half of Merrick’s battle for survival. If he can’t convince Paralee to stay with him, he’ll follow the footsteps of every bloodhound who’s ever lost a mate—straight into the grave.

Review
I’m falling more and more in love with this series! This short Novella was a great addition to the Bloodhounds series. I don’t recommend you start with this book though. There isn’t much if any world building or explanations for certain things. The story is more focused on Merrick and Paralee and their new mated relationship.

Merrick isn't my favorite bloodhound, I think Archer is still my favorite, but I did like him a lot. Unlike the others, Merrick is older, one of the first to be made by the Bloodhounds Guild. He's spent many many years, decades even, as a bloodhound, so of course it's a huge surprise to him to wake up and suddenly find himself mated. But he handles it well, for a sex crazed bloodhound that is. ;) I felt so bad for him, thinking that he was unwanted and accepting it. Made me wanna give him a big ol' hug! And Paralee, man I loved her but if I were her and found myself mated to a man like Merrick, I wouldn't be pushing him away. I'd be holding on tight and never letting go. She made me mad with the doubts she gave him but she made up for it in the end.

There wasn't much action in this one, a little at the beginning and at the end. It was mostly just them two coming together and well staying together for the new moon. But the action that was there was very exciting. I love a book that has me on the edge of my seat and this one definitely did that.

I'd love to see this couple show up in one of the next books so I can have a little update on them, but we'll see. I give this book 4 Moons and I definitely look forward to continuing the series with Hunter's Prey. I recommend this whole series, not just this book, to all paranormal romance, steampunk and western romance lovers. It's got all the elements I look for in my reading material and more. Now, go. Buy and enjoy!!!
