Melinda Leigh's Midnight Sacrifice Blog Tour (Interview) + Tour Wide #Giveaway

Welcome to our Virtual Blog Tour stop of Melinda Leigh's "Midnight Sacrifice" brought to you by Book Monster Promotions.

Thanks so much for inviting me to Book Lovin’ Mamas. It’s fabulous to share my new release with you all.

1. Tell us 5 things about yourself that readers may not know about you.

1. My first career was in banking. I wasn’t a very good banker.
2. I have a second degree black belt in Kenpo karate.
3. If I had a big house in the country, I’d have a whole pack of dogs.
4. I suffer from chronic insomnia.
5. My favorite indulgence is coffee ice cream.

2. What does a typical writing day look for you?

I get the family out the door early then settle in my office to work for a couple of hours. Then it’s time for a workout, shower, and lunch Then I work until the kids come home from school. Though I admit when I’m in deadline mode, it’s common for me to disappear into my office, forget to eat or shower, and still be in my pajamas when my husband gets home from work. Deadline days can go late into the night.

3. Tell us a little bit about "Midnight Sacrifice" and why readers should check it out?

Midnight Sacrifice has the most challenging plot I’ve written so far. The Celtic ritual aspects, loads of fun to research and write, creates some unusual plot twists.

4. What was the easiest and hardest scene to write in "Midnight Sacrifice"? (without giving away too much)

The ending scenes were very emotional to write. I’ve done my job. When readers get there, they will understand. I don’t think any explanation is needed.

5. What is your favorite type of character to write? Least?

I love all my characters. Ironically, I often find the villain the easiest to write. I hope I’m not connecting strongest with killers.

6. How many books do you have planned in the series?

Conor Sullivan is clamoring for my attention, so there will likely be at least three novels in the Midnight series. I haven’t planned beyond that point yet.

7. What kind of research did you do for Midnight Sacrifice?

Insomnia, Stonehenge, Druids, Celtic rituals and beliefs, Celtic history, post-traumatic stress disorder, inn keeping, and survival skills were some of the topics I researched. Being a nerd, I could happily research for weeks.

8. Do you ever suffer with writer's block and if you do how do you handle it?

When I’m blocked, it usually means my subconscious has picked up a plot issue in what I’ve written or planned. I go back to the beginning, edit my manuscript, and maybe write a synopsis. Once I identify the problem, I can move forward again.

9. What is up next for Melinda Leigh?

My next release is SHE CAN SCREAM, which releases in September, and my current work-in-process is SHE CAN HIDE. I’m still deciding what I’ll write after that. Maybe Conor Sullivan will get his turn.

10. Do you have anything specific you want to tell your readers?

I love to hear from readers. Please connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, or via my website.

Thanks so much for hosting me on Book Lovin’ Mamas.

As more people disappear, it becomes clear the killer is planning another ritual…and that he’s circling in on Mandy.
Melinda Leigh is a fully recovered banker. A life-long lover of books, she started writing when her youngest child entered first grade as a way to preserve her sanity. in 2007, she joined Romance Writers of America, learned a few things about writing a book, and decided the process was way more fun than analyzing financial statements. It was time to get serious about making her hobby a career. She began submitting her work in 2008. In 2009 she signed with an agent, who sold Melinda’s debut romantic suspense novel, SHE CAN RUN, in 2010 to Montlake Romance.

SHE CAN RUN released in November 2011 and became the #1 Bestseller in Kindle Romantic Suspense. SHE CAN RUN has been nominated for a 2012 Thriller Award for Best First Novel.

Melinda is also an avid martial artist. She holds a 2nd degree black belt in Kenpo Karate, studies Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and teaches women’s self-defense. She lives in a messy house in the suburbs with her husband, two teenagers, a couple of dogs and one neurotic cat with an inexplicable fear of ceiling fans. With such a pleasant life, she has no explanation for the sometimes dark and disturbing nature of her imagination To find out more about Melinda and her books you can connect with her online:
