Interview + Giveaway with Juliana Stone

Welcome to our stop of the virtual book tour of "The Summer He Came Home" by Juliana Stone brought to you by Sourcebooks.

1.  Tell us 5 things about yourself, readers would not be able to find on the web.

-I hate peas.
-My eyes are green.
-I’ve never had surgery.
-I was once a ‘jubilee singer’
-I was interviewed at a Michael Jackson concert J

2.  What does a typical writing day look like for you?

When I’m on deadline, I pretty much write every day.  My routine is that I like to edit and read over what I’ve written the day before and then dig in and get my daily words in.  I usually aim for 2-3k a day when on deadline and by editing as I go, I generally end up with a pretty clean ms when I’m done.  I spend about 3-4 hours writing at the dining room table with my dog at my feet and my cat, on the table beside my laptop!  I write during the day because my brain is usually fried by the evening, plus I’m busy with life then!

3.  Do you need anything or do anything before you start writing?

No.  I find by reading over my words from the day before I get in the right ‘mind frame’.  When I write, I need absolute silence and if the kids are home, well, lets just say not much writing gets done unless I kick them out!

4.  Tell us a little bit about ‘The Summer He Came Home” and why readers should check it out?

THE SUMMER HE CAME HOME, is the first book in the Bad Boys of Crystal Lake series.  The premise revolves around a group of men who were best friends growing up, who return home for the funeral of one of their own.   In this first book, Cain Black, is a rocker who’s been gone for ten years fulfilling his dream to write and perform music. He’s the guy every woman wants to be with.  He’s got that bad boy edge—he’s done and seen a lot—but he’s also the guy who will make you breakfast.  I think the dynamic in this series, the guy friends returning and reconnecting is cool and each of the boys will have their own book.  If you like small town romance with hot heroes and this one’s for you!

5.  How many books are planned in the Bad Boys of Crystal Lake series?

There will be three.  Book 2, THE CHRISTMAS HE LOVED HER, will be released on October 1, 2013 with book 3 releasing next April.

6.  What was the easiest and hardest scene to write without giving too much away?

For me the easiest scene is always the first. I guess it’s because I’ve envisioned it in my head and it’s just a question of getting onto paper what I’ve imagined.  It’s how I write….I don’t plot per say, but just move forward and let my characters dictate what happens next.
The hardest?  I think it was the scene near the end when my heroine’s past comes back to haunt her.  It was a delicate balance getting that scene right.

7.  What inspired you to write the Bad Boys of Crystal Lake series?

Easy question!  My love of music and my determination to write a book where the hero was a rocker.

8.  Fun question: If you were stranded on an island, what would you must-have to survive?

Hands down, my kindle. J

9.  What is up next for Juliana Stone?

Wow, lots!  I have the third book in my Barker Triplets series, Conceal, releasing in late May.  Book 2 in this Bad Boys series will be out in the fall and I’m hard at work on a young adult novel that will be released in trade paperback May 2014.  So, yes, lots on the go and I wouldn’t have it any other way!  Readers can find out all the details by visiting my website www.julianastone.com

10.  Do you have anything specific you want to tell your readers?

Honestly?  I hope you all love these characters as much as I do!  Cain and Maggie hold a special place in my heart and I’m so excited for everyone to read their love story!

Publishing Date: 4/2/13
Publisher: Sourcebooks
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Description:
Sometimes the best place to find love is right back where you started…
Falling asleep in a different bed every night has made it easy for Cain Black to forget his past. It’s been ten years since he packed his guitar and left Crystal Lake to chase his dreams. Now tragedy has forced him home again. And though Cain relishes the freedom of the road, one stolen moment with Maggie O’Rourke makes him wonder if he’s missing out on something bigger than fame.
For Maggie—single mother and newly settled in Crystal Lake—love is a luxury she just can’t afford. Sure, she appreciates the tall, dark and handsome looks of prodigal son Cain Black. But how long can she expect the notorious hellion to stay?
The last thing either of them wants is something complicated. But sometimes love has its own plans.
Juliana Stone’s love of the written word and 80s rock, have inspired her in more ways than one. She writes dark paranormal romance as well as Contemporary Romance and spends her days navigating a busy life that includes, a husband, kids, a dog and a cat. Juliana is represented by Sara Megibow of The Nelson Literary Agency.

Great interview. I love Juliana's books. I fell in love with her when I read Offside and then even more with Collide. I love the Barker girls and can't wait for the 3rd book.
My question for Juliana is: What is your favorite genre to write? To read? If you could write a different genre then what you do now, which would you choose?
Thanks for the chance to win.
