ARC Review: "Fangs for Nothing" by Erin McCarthy and Kathy Love
Fangs for Nothing
(The Fangover #2)
by: Erin McCarthy
Publishing Date: 7/2/13
Publisher: Berkley Trade
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Description:
When one of their own ties the knot with a dominatrix (no pun intended), The Impalers—a vampire rock band—are ready to party down. But trouble awaits them once again when they wake up
Attending their bandmate Saxon’s wedding seemed simple enough for Johnny Malone and Drake Hanover. But after waking up in a dominatrix’s dungeon, they realize their cash and cell phones have been stolen—along with the bride’s wedding dress and the groom. And then there’s the matter of the two women in the room
.
Loose cannon Johnny is handcuffed to Lizette, an uptight paper pusher. She wants to help save Johnny from the horrible fate in store for him at the hands of the Vampire Alliance, but he won’t sign the paperwork. Then there’s Josie, the waifish caterer from the reception, who rescues Drake from a sex swing. Josie may be cute and make a great cupcake, but Drake knows she might also be the thief. Or it could have been that gang of drag queens all dressed as Cher
.
Regardless, Johnny and Lizette need to get out of these handcuffs. Drake and Josie need to find their missing belongings. And Saxon needs to be located before the Vampire Alliance comes down on them hard.
My Review:
Ever read a book that leaves you laughing, so hard your family looks at you crazy? Yeah, this is definitely the book that did that to me.
I read the first book, The Fangover, and when I read Fangs for Nothing, I was prepared for the same kind of storyline. I was not prepared for some of the craziness that Johnny and Drake dealt with in this book though.
Erin McCarthy and Kathy Love give you the sexy Impalers again, where they have no clue what happened to them the night before. They know someone drugged them again and they want to find out who and why they did it.
You get Cher impersonators, a dungeon (that involves a sex swing, an alligator, and someone wearing chaps that involve showing off the goodies), and of course so many other obstacles that involve the Impalers having to re-trace their steps due to not remembering anything.
This time it is Johnny and Drake from the Impalers that are falling in love with the most unlikely women, who are also confused from the night before. One of the women works for the Vampire Alliance, who is in town to investigate Johnny's death and the other woman works for a catering business, who got stuck with the Impalers for some reason.
I loved this book due to its storyline and of course this time it was Johnny and Drake that got their story. I loved Drake in this book due to his personality and I loved how Johnny handled his dilemma with the Vampire Alliance. You will have to read the first book to find out what Johnny did to get him in this sticky situation in this book.
Both women in this book are what made this story even better. You have the stuck up all about the rules vampire and you have the human woman, who just wanted to make her mark in the world. Both of them are complete opposites to Johnny and Drake.
The best part in the book...was the very beginning. Seriously...I could not stop laughing on how everyone woke up after the night of being drugged.
If you like your paranormal romance with some humor, you will definitely want to read this book. I highly recommend you read the first though. Otherwise you will miss out on some of the other favorite Impalers that got their crazy story already.
I highly recommend this book and give it 5 full moons. I want some more Impalers already. I need some of these crazy New Orleans bandmates that keep me laughing at night.

ARC Review: "True" by Erin McCarthy
True
by: Erin McCarthy
Publishing Date: 5/7/13
Publisher: InterMix
Genre: New Adult Romance
Source: Goodreads
Source: Goodreads
Description:
When Rory Macintosh’s roommates find out that their studious and shy friend has never been with a guy, they decide that, as an act of kindness they’ll help her lose her virginity by hiring confident, tattooed bad boy Tyler Mann to do the job…unbeknownst to Rory.
Tyler knows he’s not good enough for Rory. She’s smart, doctor smart, while he’s barely scraping by at his EMT program, hoping to pull his younger brothers out of the hell their druggy mother has left them in. But he can’t resist taking up her roommates on an opportunity to get to know her better. There’s something about her honesty that keeps him coming back when he knows he shouldn’t…
Torn between common sense and desire, the two find themselves caught up in a passionate relationship. But when Tyler’s broken family threatens to destroy his future, and hers, Rory will need to decide whether to cut her ties to his risky world or follow her heart, no matter what the cost…
My Review:
Erin McCarthy's newest release, "True" is a new adult romance book that takes you on a journey of a girl in college, who realizes that the one guy who she thought never paid attention to her, actually was falling hard for her. It took her friends though for the guy to make the moves on her to find out more about her.
Rory Macintosh reminded me so much of myself when I was reading "True". She's the girl who is so focused on school that she forgets to have fun every once in awhile. She is beyond smart and is all about math and science. She thinks logically about everything. When she first meets, Tyler, he keeps hooking up with her roommate Jessica...but the minute he sees her, he becomes intrigued on how Rory handles herself. He knows though he is out of her league. When he finds out that she has never been with anyone, he is determined to find out why. The minute he starts to get to know Rory though, he knows he is in deep. Rory even realizes the boy who she considers the bad boy has a whole entire side that is sweet and caring and she is falling hard for Tyler.
Tyler is the boy, who has grown up with a mother who is a drug addict and tends to be aggressive. He is all about taking care of his brothers and he's trying to work on his EMT program so he can have a decent job and take care of his brothers. He never thought the girl he thought was shy and smart would intrigue him so much. I think I fell in love with Tyler the minute he helped Rory get out of a certain situation. He definitely was a gentleman to Rory in the book.
Rory was the one who was determined to go further with Tyler. (It is the shy and quiet ones you have to worry about)
What made me a little upset was Rory's roommates and how they were trying to help Rory, but they ended up sticking their noses where it did not belong. They did not believe in Rory and Tyler.
This is one book that will put you through the ringer though. You will feel sorry for Tyler and his brothers and what they have gone through and continue going through. You will feel terrible for Rory and Tyler and everything they are put though. How no one believes they should be together. Tyler even starts believing it because he feels he will ruin Rory's reputation. Rory is one determined girl though. She will do anything to prove to everyone that Tyler is a good guy, they just need to get to know him. She even puts her father in his place in this book. I was so proud of her standing up to him. She is an adult and she should be able to decide who she wants to be with.
I definitely enjoyed this book even when it made me cry and mad at times. Erin McCarthy is definitely one author who is an auto-buy for me. I am so glad she dived into the new adult genre and I look forward to reading the next book...which will be about Jessica. She definitely got on my nerves in this book, but maybe she will grow on me in her book.
*The meaning behind the title of the book is discussed in the story as well, and it definitely made me cry a bit. Let's just say Tyler and his brothers are very close knit and they definitely stole my heart in the story*
I give this book 5 full moons and highly recommend it to new adult genre readers and contemporary romance readers out there.
Get your tissues ready and prepared to say up late to finish it. I had a hard time putting it down. I needed Rory and Tyler to have a happily ever after. They definitely deserve it after what they went through in this book to make their relationship work.

I'm going to share my love of "Hard and Fast" by Erin McCarthy. I fell in love with Ty McCordle when reading Hard and Fast. He has ways on pleasing a woman. In fact both myself and Imogen feel that Ty, shouldn't be embarassed over it.
Ty McCordle will always have a special place in my heart now after reading "Hard and Fast" and I thought I share my love of him with you ladies. =)

Description:
Not all marriages last forever!
Suzanne Jefferson is broke, which is why she’s given up charity work for wedding planning. Fortunately, she has a high-profile client, and best of all, he’s paid in advance. There are just two teensy problems: The bride is a bona fide bridezilla, and Suzanne’s ex-husband is the best man. At least she thought he was her ex-husband!
But this one might…
Two years after their marriage fell apart, stock car race driver Ryder Jefferson still can’t stop thinking about Suzanne. Which is why he isn’t too upset that, due to a glitch, the two are still technically married. Now he’s imagining easing Suzanne’s woes by satisfying her needs in the bedroom. After all, that’s the one room they never argued in. Besides, with wedding bells ringing all around them, Ryder is wondering if,even though they’d quit the race a few laps too early, they can still come on strong with a big, romantic finish!

My Review:
I love my local library because I can reserve a book online and have it picked up the next day or two to read and now my local library has ebooks I can read on my Kindle. =)
My thoughts on "Hot Finish", the third book in the Fast Track Series by Erin McCarthy. Personally, this book was not my fave. I did not connect very well with the female character. In fact, she drove me crazy. I did not like Suzanne Jefferson, the previous two books and I didn't like her much in her own book. Although, I did have sympathy for her after finding out what she has gone through. I also liked the fact, she really did not like depending on a man to help her. She preferred to work out everything on her own.
Although, I did enjoy Ryder Jefferson, he's Suzanne's ex-husband (well...supposedly). Ryder is a sweetheart. He's a stock car driver and last season, he came in second place. He wants to do better next season...but Ryder is distracted by Suzanne. Every time he tries to be nice to Suzanne, he gets crapped on. He didn't like seeing Suzanne suffer though and he wanted to try to help her in some way without her knowing about it.
Here's the story of these two: Suzanne and Ryder were married, she left him because she felt he was not really into the marriage. She felt he only married her because at the time they hooked up, she got knocked up and they had a shotgun wedding in Vegas. Suzanne ended up having a miscarriage and she felt that Ryder really did not want to have kids after that. He never showed emotion towards losing the baby at all. Suzanne left after awhile because she felt it wasn't working out and he wasn't really trying. They really never expressed on how they felt and never shared their feelings with each other.
Now...Suzanne is to plan a wedding for Niki (the most annoying female character I've ever read) and Jonas. Ryder is the Best Man so of course Suzanne is not happy about it. She can't stop avoiding him and he keeps throwing hints at her, he wants to hook up.
Onto...the night of passion in a car between them both. Bam!
Further into the book, Suzanne is confused and Ryder is confused. Suzanne keeps pushing him away. Ryder keeps trying to express how much he still cares about her. Suzanne has her friends telling her Ryder loves her, but of course she doesn't believe them. Ryder has his guy pals telling him that Suzanne still shows feeling for him too and he's trying to pursue her. On and on it goes between them both...
At the end of the book, Ryder lets Suzanne know how she feels and how he loved her from the minute he met her. She still does not believe it until something happens which makes them finally come together.
I loved the storyline of "Hot Finish". I fell in love with Ryder's character. He kept trying to let Suzanne know that he was still in love with her. Of course, it's sometime difficult for a man to do that. Ryder kept throwing hints in the wrong way and of course Suzanne always took the wrong way. Suzanne on the other hand was driving me friggin' crazy because she couldn't get it. Ahhh!!
I got to read about Tammy, Elec, Ty, and Imogen again in this book. In fact, Erin McCarthy puts you in the heads of some of the characters again. I'm always wanting to know what happened or is happening to previous characters I've read about. I still love Ty and Imogen the most.
I got a glimpse of who the next character is going to be...Evan. He seems to be a playboy. Looking forward to diving into "The Chase" next from my library.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves contemporary romance and loves reading about sexy Stock Car drivers.

My Review:
I read the first book from this series, randomly one day since I had to clean up my TBR list a bit on Goodreads. Well..unfortunately the list has gotten bigger because I had to add the rest of the Fast Track Series to my TBR list. What can I say, I love NASCAR drivers. Go Dale Jr.! =)
The second book is about Imogen and Ty this time around. I got a taste of them in the first book and I already could tell in the first book they would hook up. I fell in love with both of these characters. I loved the storyline that Erin McCarthy created for both of these characters and of course I kind of have a crush on Ty McCordle. I know he's a fictional character, but I just feel so sympathetic of him. I just want to give him a huge hug...or maybe more. ***Evil Grin***
Imogen is College Student who is very intelligent. She's doing her thesis for college on how you could land a race car driver in certain steps. She never expected though, she would land the heart of Ty so quickly though. He's actually chasing after her. She really didn't think he would be interested in her.
Ty McCordle of course is a little leery on dating Imogen because she's so smart and he's never chased after a girl like her before. You will learn a lot of why Ty McCordle is the way he is in this book. You'll find out he has a certain disability which he's very embarrassed by. I felt terrible for him and I just wish he would've brought it up to Imogen in the beginning of his difficulty he has because when he finally spills the beans, she's very sympathetic about it. See guys, if you bring up something that your embarrassed by, almost 99% of the the woman is going to understand and is going to want to help out. There is at least 1% of women who won't of course...and the girl that Ty was seeing in the beginning of the book was that 1%. I could've slapped that skinny, lettuce eating wench.
All and all, this book I enjoyed so much more than the first book because of the characters. Maybe because I can relate to Imogen a little bit. Just a tiny bit. My husband always says how he landed such a Intelligent Wife. Who by the way, got A's in both my college classes the first half of Spring Semester. =) So proud of myself...even with having two girls at home who tend to keep me on my toes.
I look forward to diving into the next book hopefully next month. I can't wait to read Suzanne's story.
Five Full Moons for this book. =)

My Review:
(Originally Reviewed on Mrs. Papillion aka "The Book Worm")
(Originally Reviewed on Mrs. Papillion aka "The Book Worm")
I chose to one day read from my TBR list from Goodreads.com. I ran the
numbers through random.org and ended up on "Flat-Out Sexy" as my pick
to read. So what did I do...I put a hold on the book at my local
library and picked it up in a couple of days. I was a little skeptical
of reading it at first since it was my first contemporary romance on
RaceCar Drivers.
No Paranormal in this book...which I'm a Paranormal addict, if you know me well. I'm slowly, but surely breaking off of Paranormal Romance though and branching out more and I'm so glad I did.
"Flat-Out Sexy" had me out of my comfort zone in an amazing way. I found out "Flat-Out Sexy" was more Erotica than anything. The sex scenes had my heart stop several times. Erin McCarthy writes a sex scene where you feel like your experiencing it. Eek!!! <~~By the way that's a good Eek! =)
First let me explain the characters, what I really enjoyed about this book and why I'm picking up the next book at my local library.
Tamara is a Widow of a Race Car Driver...she's a Mom of two beautiful kids. She rather be single, then hook up with a Race Car driver again since she lost her husband on the job. She's trying the dating thing after two years after losing her husband and she's not very good at it...well that's what she thinks.
The first guy she hooks up with, she has no chemistry. Then she meets, Elec...a young race car driver who changes her world.
You will learn that Tamara is very insecure about her age, her body, her looks and her image while she's in the public. I feel terrible for Tamara throughout the book because of her insecurities. Reminds me of myself sometimes. I have a loving husband though that has helped me through my insecurities and Tamara actually finds a Man who helps her through hers too.
Elec is one hot young rookie in the Racing Career. He's just starting off. He's from a family of race car drivers. You will find out his brother is a Race Car driver and their sister helps get them in the public eyes.
When he meets Tamara, he falls head over in heels for her and he wasn't even expecting it. He thought it was just for lust.
Tamara and Elec end up meeting secretly for sex...that way Tamara is isn't shunned from her In-laws. Her Father-in-law has despised Elec's father for awhile now and Tamara never knew why...so what do you think would happen if he found out she was hooked up with Elec?
My thoughts on the character chemisty...Elec is perfect for Tamara. He may be younger than Tamara and have crazy ex-girlfriend's after him (you will find out if you read the book...let's just say I wanted to go through the book and slap the crap out of Crystal). Friggin' Crazy-ASS!!!...but Elec makes Tamara realize what LOVE is again.
What made me love him even more, is how well, he took to Tamara's kids. The kids even adored him.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and glad Random.org chose this book for me to read. I don't think I would've ever read this book until a couple of years from now.
I loved the ending also for Tamara and Elec and hope that the other books will peek more into their lives.
I'm looking forward to the next books now.
It's about time I branch away from paranormal every once in awhile. I also love finding new authors who capture my attention.
