by: Holly Hood
Publishing Date: 8/17/12
Genre: Paranormal Romance (& Urban Fantasy)
Source: Provided by Author

She soon learns there is a side of Slade and magic that she wishes she never knew existed.
Soon she is battling a coven, and her own personal life.
Should she stay true to the girl she always was or take a chance with the greatest guy she ever met?
This new life could turn her into something evil; she has to decide if it is worth it.
My Review:
I read the first book last year, when Holly Hood contacted me to read and review it. I fell head over heels in love with Slade. (noticed a trend yet with me...I always fall for the bad boys)
I was anxiously waiting for the sequel to the first book.
When Holly told me, I would get another book with Slade...I squealed with delight. =)
This book thought made me go through an emotional roller coaster. I was upset with how Slade was acting in the whole book to Hope. What a JERK!!!
And I fell in love with a new character, Hutch, who I cannot wait to learn more about.
Hello...Slade, you were a jerk...so Hope needed someone who actually cared for her in her life...what did you expect? (Sorry...just had to tell Slade off for a bit).
Hope is on break from college and returns home to see her family, friends, and of course, her boyfriend Slade. She is beyond excited to see him, but it seems Slade is not that excited to see Hope. In fact, the first time they have a moment of passion, in comes a blonde, pink wearing girl who does not even bother to knock on Slade's RV. Hope of course is furious...but Slade not so much.
Hope realizes that everyone in her life has changed since she was gone. Slade is alone in his RV instead of with his band family, Hope's Dad is dating the enemy's Mom, and even her brothers are all grown up and want nothing to do with Hope.
Hope even thinks her best friend is acting coldly towards her...and Slade's best friend keeps dodging Hope's question on if Slade has mixed feelings on the relationship now since he has the crazy girl around 24/7 it seems.
Hope is going to learn about the new girl coming around and what she really means to Slade and his family, but does she really want to play with the witchy rules?
One night, they go too far and Hope feels terrible, so she does the right thing and apologizes. She ends up meeting the hunky, tall British guy, Hutch...who she can't stop thinking about. She is even having strong feelings for him that she should not be feeling since Slade is supposed to be her boyfriend.
The unthinkable happens though...and Hope ends up getting a broken heart...but gains a friendship from someone who wants to help her with her problem.
The town is also changing around Hope and before you know it the secret is slowly coming out about what is happening in the park where Slade and his band play...because Tucker, the guy that helped drug and hurt Hope last book...is about to tell the biggest secret to the town on what Hope and her friends really are.
This book was one emotional roller coaster for me since I loved Slade in the first book...but this book made me hate him. I didn't know what the heck was going on with him, but he was really getting on my nerves. Here it is Hope gave up her humanity for him and he will not even give her the time of day to even help her understand her new life. He also will not share his feelings.
I was BEYOND surprised on how Holly made this book end. Definitely was not expecting that one...but I was happy that Hope threw it someone that was willing to help Hope and also teach Hope the truth of what is happening to Slade.
Have I told you enough...how much I wanted to punch Slade in this book. That jerk!!!
The girl also!! GRRR!!
Now I'm going to wait patiently for the third book and find out what happens next because this book only touched on a little bit that is about to happen. I know something major is going to happen in this next one.
I want to learn more about Hutch also. Oh boy! He stole my heart in this book.
I'm hoping Slade, can win my heart back...but as right now I'm going to make believe he's real...and give him a slap in the face for Hope. Because he put her through a lot in this book and all she wanted was the truth.
I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers, readers who love reading about witches, and readers who do not mind getting mad at certain characters.
I warned you...just remember that. =)

Review - "Perfectly Hopeless" by Holly Hood
Perfectly Hopeless
by: Holly Hood
Publishing Date: 1/28/12
Genre: YA Romance
Source: Kindle Edition (Bought)
Buy: Amazon
Description:
Every summer, when the
willow trees blow lazily in the breeze Maven Wilder goes back to
Portwood. At one time she was sure she knew what love was. She thought
she was in it, but not anymore.
Maven never expected to meet Henri Levitt that summer. A brown-haired, brown-eyed guy that keeps to himself and is always working odd jobs, Henri lives with relatives and comes off a bit depressed. He’s happy to stay busy, and if that means little social life, that is fine by him.
Nobody in Portwood thinks twice about Henri. And it’s only after an embarrassing accident happens at The Yogurt Hut that Maven even notices him. After meeting Henri that day, Maven’s life changes in ways she never counted on.
Spending the summer with Henri shows Maven there is more to life than heartbreak, and that some people do change you for the better. Maven learns a lot over the summer. And after meeting Henri, her life will never be the same.

My Review:
I had a chance to read "Ink" by Holly Hood back last year and ever since I've adored Holly's writing style.
I've had "Perfectly Hopeless" waiting in my Kindle since the day it was published, but had to keep pushing it aside to read other books that were requested at the time for me to read. Well...I decided to put some books on hold so I can finally sit down and enjoy "Perfectly Hopeless".
Let's just say, my hubby's shirt whenever he was sitting near me was drenched in tears and snot. My poor daughters would look at me all crazy when they saw me in tears. (even my 6 month old who just stared at me until I stopped). I know the snot sounds gross, but this book was a sad one. I was expecting it to be sad though. I knew the minute I was introduced to Henri, I knew something was terribly wrong. Oh boy! Prepare for a tear-jerker, if you haven't read this book yet. If you have, you know what I mean.
Again, Holly had me loving the characters and hating certain characters. Poor Maven went through a bad break-up from her ex-boyfriend who cheated on her. When she always comes across him and his now girlfriend, he's always messing with her. She meets Henri though and he changes her world. Maven even changes Henri's world because he never expected to fall in love even when he's dealing with something that will change his life forever and everyone around him.
I had to take a few days after I read the book to type up this review. It effected me that much. I still think my family doesn't know why I was crying.
This book is absolutely amazing though. Even though it is sad, it teaches you that love is out there after heartbreak. It teaches you also how one person can change your world for the better. It also teaches you how short life can be sometimes and to not take it for granted.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves a young adult romance, and loves reading tear-jerkers.
Just remember if you do read this, have tissues on hand. If you have family or friends that live with you, warn them ahead of time that you will be crying, so they don't think something is wrong with you.
Holly, you definitely have a fan for life. =) I look forward to reading more books from you very soon.

Review - "Ink" by Holly Hood

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Description:
Hope didn’t ask for so much change in her life. She was happy living in Georgia for the rest of her life. Focusing on the things she loved the most: singing, dancing, and her best friend Karsen. This was effortless, she had no worries.
But all that changed when her mother decided to leave her dad for Pete, the Tae Kwon do instructor. And now Hope had to choose between staying where she belonged or moving far away to Cherry California with her dad.
After making the choice to move far away, to protect her father, Hope realizes Cherry is nothing like the hometown she’s used to. Everyone is rude, high class and she doesn’t fit in. Not until Slade comes along. He has never fit in and he is okay with that. And Hope is fascinated by everything that Slade is. All the way down to his tattoos and bat wielding rescue the first time they meet.
She knows she should stay far away from him, but it proves tricky as she discovers dark secrets about the town and people in Cherry, California. Hope doesn’t know who to trust as her life takes a turn from ordinary and depressing to dangerous and wild.

My Review:
(Originally Reviewed on Mrs. Papillion aka "The Book Worm")
Let me just say this is the first book in a long time, that really caught my interest and I had a hard time putting it down. The story of it sucked me in from beginning to end. It also even had me dreaming about it. When I got up at 3 am to take care of my baby girl, I had to finish the book before I even decided to fall back asleep. It was my mission to find out what would happen between Hope and Slade.
Hope is a girl who has to give up everything in Georgia to go to California with her father and brothers after her Dad and Mom split up. She is thrown into a world of rich snobby people who she doesn't fit in with, until she meets the mysterious tattooed Slade, who helps her out of a dilemma. She is fascinated with him and wants to find out what he is exactly. Hope is forced into several situations where she has to find out who to trust. Should she trust Slade or Tucker, the boy who everyone adores, but something is wrong with his family. My first thoughts on Slade was he was dreamy and mysterious and I wanted to know more about him. This guy who could manipulate the Ink on Hope's arms. He definitely caught my heart and I definitely wanted Hope with him instead of Tucker. Once I did find out what he was, I was in Awe. I definitely wasn't expecting that and I can say, it definitely made the story more amazing.
I knew from the beginning there was something wrong with Tucker, but I couldn't put my finger on it. He was too good to be true. Once I got to the ending, I was surprised with his actions and his Dad's. Wow...definitely wasn't expecting that. My favorite parts in the book was the Ocean Scene between Hope and Slade, which was a very steamy scene and that wasn't the only one between them. I also enjoyed when Karsen came into town. She was Hope's best friend. The girl made it even more interesting and she had a way of getting Hope out of her shell even more.
I felt terrible for Hope in certain parts of the book...the poor girl went through hell to be with Slade. She didn't get any help from anyone most of the time, so she had to figure it out for herself. All I can say about this book is it's become one of my favorites and is definitely worth a read-again in the near future. I can't get enough of Slade. =)
Holly Hood captures the love between two teens perfectly. She also writes about the ups and downs of a relationship that a teen may endure when trust is a issue. She also writes what happens when parents get involved. You'll just have to read the book to find out about what Hope's Dad did. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who wants to read about magic, steamy scenes, and amazing characters. I look forward to reading more books from Holly Hood in the near future and I really hope "Ink" becomes a movie one day...I definitely would buy tickets for the midnight premiere and would watch the movie over and over again.

Author Takeover & Giveaway Alert - "Perfectly Hopeless" by Holly Hood
Today we let Holly Hood takeover Book Lovin' Mamas.
Let's get to know Holly a little more and also find out how she came up with her latest release "Perfectly Hopeless". If you have never heard of Holly Hood or even picked up one of her books to read, you're definitely missing out.
When you know me, you know that I am sarcastic. And I think that comes across in my writing a lot. I also over think everything in life, and writing has let me do that through different situations.
Perfectly Hopeless is a bit different then most of the books I have written. There is no paranormal in this story. It wasn’t even a story I planned on writing. Sure, I had been toying with the plot for sometime, but I really figured it would end up in some sort of paranormal story.
My goal in writing this book was to show beauty in something that some might think is not. I wanted a story that evoked a lot of emotion. And as I wrote I really felt that. I really loved Henri and Maven in this book.
I was thinking about this book the other day and I came to the conclusion that readers will either love it or hate it. And I like that. I don’t want to give away the story, but I will say it was a lot of fun to write and difficult at times, but in the end I truly do love the book and hope everyone loves it even if they hated it. (that probably makes no sense)
As for who I am, I’ve never been great with talking about myself, so I came up with 20 facts about me. So here goes.
· I cannot go a day without listening to music.
· I have a major fear of spiders, or anything small and crawling, but spiders take the cake.
· My favorite color used to be green, now it’s purple.
· I could live off of French bread.
· I have three kids. Zoey, Zaynah, and Rlee.
· I once lived in Clarksville, Tennessee and I loved it.
· My dream vacation would be Alaska or Hawaii.
· I hate fashion trends.
· I love Dancing with the stars (Go Maks!)
· Every morning I watch The Today show.
· When I write a book, I make it a point to name my characters something unique.
· I don’t like the snow.
· My favorite holiday is Easter.
· When I was a kid I wanted to be a lawyer before I discovered writing.
· My favorite movie is My girl.
· One day I hope to own an English Mastiff.
· I have never broken a bone or had stitches in my life. (Crosses fingers it stays that way)
· I am 6’1. (Super tall for a girl)
· I was born on Father’s day.
· My favorite band right now is The Used. (Song: Bird and the worm)
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me!
