The bedroom door had barely clicked behind me when
Samantha grabbed and shoved me toward the bed. I fell backward, and she was on
top of me, clawing at my clothes and ripping off her own. Whatever had been
going on with her all day was now clearly finding a release.
“Sam?”
She kissed me roughly and shoved her tongue into my
mouth. I groaned and pushed her back.
Though we french kissed all the time, I generally kept
her out of my mouth.
“Sam?”
Finally, she stilled. With her hands braced on my
shoulders, her eyes burned down into mine. Her anger squeezed my chest. Her
voice was strained. “Lucien, we’ll talk later. I promise. But right now I want
you, and I need you. And I need you to know it, feel it.” Her words clarified
little, but I nodded.
She unleashed herself on me, kissing and licking and
roughly nipping at my upper body all while
maintaining eye contact. I thrust my hips into her when
she lingered over my Blood Mark. I finally had to grab her hair and tug her
attention away from it.
With a groan, she reached a hand down between her legs
and worked herself as she devoured me. When I realized what she was doing, I
moaned and gripped her shoulders and rolled on top of her.
I grabbed her hand and pulled it to my mouth, then
noisily sucked on her wet fingers. I groaned at the sweet nectar of her
arousal.
“You see what you do to me, Lucien? What only you do
to me?” she rasped. “Take me, Lucien. I’m yours,” she offered as she planted
her feet flat on the mattress and pushed herself up forcefully against my
erection.
Her aggression spurred mine, and I grunted. “You want
me?” I asked as I ground myself against
her wetness. She ran a hand over the bedspread and found the
packet she’d apparently laid out earlier. She slid herself against me as she
opened it and then rolled on the condom. “God, yes,” she whimpered.
I plunged forward and filled her in one hard stroke. She
screamed and wrapped herself around
me. Hard breaths and grunts and strained curses in two
languages filled the room as we battled through Samantha’s emotions with our
bodies. She kissed me roughly and dug her nails into my flesh. The physical
pain mingled with her radiating pleasure to coax what I was sure was going to
be one of the most intense orgasms I’d ever experienced.
She came in a frenzy of screams and muscle contractions.
And then bit against the taut skin at
the base of my neck. Hard.
My fangs and release shot out at the same time. I growled
and in a blur turned my head in search of my biceps. I missed the tender skin
of her shoulder by a hair as the urge to bite down became irresistible.
Finally, I willed my fangs to retract and licked at the
wound I’d made on my arm, then slid down a little and laid my head on her
heaving breasts.
“I love you,” I whispered breathlessly.
She hugged my shoulders and combed her fingers through my
hair. “I love you, too.” We lay together, panting, for a long time. “Lucien?” I
lifted my head off her chest to look at her. “I’m ready to talk now.”

Review
I absolutely adore this series! After the first book I knew
I was going to enjoy this one but I didn’t realize how much! This story is so beautifully
written and full of emotion! Zeph and Ella both have such heartbreaking pasts
but together they find a love and acceptance that they never thought they would
ever have!
I LOVE Zeph! I thought I loved Owen the most until I met
Zeph! This guy is sweet and hot and conflicted and he makes for the perfect
hero! I fell in love with him instantly when he was so upset with himself for
harming Ella. How he saved her and then looked after her and eventually fell in
love with her. It’s really very romantic and I’m a sap so I fell for it! ;) And
Ella, talk about one thing after another just kept bringing her down but Zeph
picks her back up. He was so sweet to her! *sigh* Like I said, I’m a sap and this story is OH SO
SWEET!!!
Now I’m ready for the next book, South of Surrender! I can’t
wait to read it and finally get Chrysander’s story. If he’s anything like Zeph
and Owen, we are in for a treat. I definitely recommend this series to all paranormal
fans out there. These books are unique and well written and the stories are
some of my very favorites!

North of Need
(Hearts of the Anemoi #1)
While attempting to escape the agonizing memories she
associates with Christmas, twenty-nine-year-old widow Megan Snow builds a snow
family outside the mountain cabin she once shared with her husband-and
collapses in tears against the snowman at the sight of what she'll never have.
Called to life by the power of Megan's tears, snow god Owen
Winters appears unconscious on her doorstep in the midst of a raging blizzard.
As she nurses him to health, Owen finds unexpected solace in her company and
unimagined pleasure in the warmth of her body, and vows to win her heart for a
chance at humanity.
Megan is drawn to Owen's mismatched eyes, otherworldly
masculinity, and enthusiasm for the littlest things, and her heart opens enough
to believe he's a Christmas miracle. But this miracle comes with an
expiration-before the snow melts and the temperature rises, Megan must let go
of her widow's grief and learn to trust love again, or she'll lose Owen
forever.

Publisher: Harlequin Nocturne
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Source: Kindle Edition (Bought)
Buy: Amazon or Barnes & Noble
Description:

the Vampires, loathes the Night of the Proffering. He needs the blood of
either his mate or a human virgin to maintain his strength, but hasn't
enjoyed the ritual since he lost his mate centuries ago. Kael doesn't
want a new companion, yet his resolve is tested when he lays eyes on his
new offering, Shayla McKinnon. He is drawn to Shayla's beauty and
poise...and the submission she offers. She is eager to give him anything
he wishes, including her innocence, to please him. Will Kael give in to
their overwhelming desire—even if it means risking Shayla's life?
My Review:
I finished this book and now want more of this series. Thank goodness the next book comes out June 1st. =) I'm a HUGE fan of Vampires and the Series name alone "Vampire Warrior Kings" definitely had me intrigued to read "In the Service of the King".
The cover helps also. =)
Kale is the Warrior King of the Vampires. He is forced to participate in the night of proferring even though he doesn't want to. He lost his mate centuries ago and he has never wanted another mate or even be with a Proferred. Proferred is a human woman that offers her blood for the service of the king and other things...so he can keep his humanity and help his kind. Shayla McKinnon is chosen as Kael's Proferred. When Kael meets her, he is instantly enthralled. He doesn't want to be though. He misses his mate, but for some reason he can't stop thinking that Shayla could be destined for him. Shayla is happy to help the King, she's thought about this day for awhile now. She wants to avenge her sister's death that happened awhile ago and she always wanted to be there to help the Vampire Warrior King in anyway possible.
Everything is going wrong though, she's being the perfect submissive, but Kael is being standoffish at first and then something happens, which makes her think it's her fault. He does things to her, she wasn't really expecting.
I do not want to go any further into telling the book because I'll spoil the good parts. Instead, I'll tell you my thoughts on this book. I loved it!! Have I said that already? I had a hard time putting it down. I'm intrigued over Vampires. I don't think I'll have stop reading about them. To come across this book through Laura Kaye's Street Team, I just had to read it. I would've finished it within a hour, but motherly duties and college homework took precedence several times yesterday.
I love the concept of this series. Kael is one difficult Vampire Warrior King though in the beginning. It took him awhile to realize what his destiny was. I loved Shayla and how she tried everything to win over Kael. She was the prefect Proferred for him. She was trained to be the perfect Proferred and I think it scared Kael a bit at first.
I loved the steamy scenes between them both. I had to re-read them sometimes because I wanted to drag out the book a little longer because I didn't want it to end and of course the best parts to re-read is the scenes between the characters. Oh yes!
I found it fascinating to read the Gaelic (Irish) language even though I do not understand it. I will have to learn it now (I am part Irish). Maybe one day I'll visit Ireland and I'll probably never come back to the States. =)
I loved reading about the mating at the end of the book. Definitely different to any other matings I've read in other books.
I look forward to reading the next book when it comes out tomorrow. I will be buying it and reading it as soon as I get up in the morning.
I recommend this book to vampire lovers out there, to paranormal romance readers, and readers who just want to take a trip through Ireland with this delicious Vampire Warrior King.
I found myself reading in a Irish accent when I read Kael's part of some reason, once I realized this book was based in Ireland. It's a habit I can't break. =)
This is a must read so add it to your TBR list. =)
