Blog Tour: "Redemption" by Erica Hayes (Interview/Giveaway)
Welcome to our Virtual tour stop of "Redemption" by Erica Hayes brought to you by Bewitching Book Tours.
Thanks for hosting me on Book Lovin' Mamas. I'm happy to be here!
1. Tell us three things about yourself that we may not be able to find on
your website.
I
am totally uncool. Hip things like fashion, memes, Pinterest and the Harlem
Shake are beyond me. (Well, maybe you can tell that from my website…)
I
own the world's oldest surviving cell phone. Museums all over the world covet
this relic of ages gone by. But I'm not selling. Oh, no. One day, this rusty
gadget will save my life.
That
picture of me on my website is a fake. In reality, I am a brain, floating in a
jar of genetically modified super-nutrients, deep in a villain's shiny
high-tech Lair of Doom. See, now you're wondering if that's true…
2. What does a typical writing day look like for you?
A
mess :) I try to have a routine but it usually gets derailed at some point. I
get up, feed the cat, read emails, go to the gym. Then if I'm drafting a book,
I try to write two or three thousand words per day. Usually I go to the coffee
shop with my laptop to get words done. Home is
too distracting – there's always something else to be done!
Otherwise
I'm writing blog posts, arranging promotional stuff, emailing my agent with
crazy book ideas… Then I cook dinner. I'm the cook in our house, and I'm not too
bad, mostly, but sometimes it’s a bit rushed…
Lastly
it's TV to unwind. Usually until far past my bedtime. At the moment I'm
watching Dexter season 7, and The Following. Serial killers, oyy!
3.
Tell us a little bit about "Redemption" and why readers should
check it out?
First
of all, it's a smokin' hot romance! No, I'm not giving you page numbers :) But
rest assured, the hot angel smexing will happen… and this hero, Japheth, is
just gorgeous. Honestly. One of my favourites out of all of my books. A fallen
angel who tries to be sinless. Yep, that means no sex for the last millennium
or so. Let's just say he's a little tense right now…
Redemption also has
action, suspense, and lashings of horror. The demon villains are dastardly and
have no conscience. Some of the angels aren't much better.
Oh,
and the apocalypse. Blood in the water, plagues of bloodthirsty hellminions.
The sky will rain fire.
4. What inspired you to write The Seven Signs series?
I've
always wanted to write an end-of-the-world book. Post-apocalyptic is cool, but
the actual apocalypse? You don't get to see that so often.
And
I love angels! The paranormal romance kind, that is, with big muscles and
flaming swords and human problems. They're just so improbable that it really
sets you free as a writer – you can do whatever you like with them! My angels
are tough, angry, violent, intense and emotional. And they're fallen angels, so
they all have dark secrets in their pasts. They're romance heroes just waiting
to happen :)
5. What has been the easiest and hardest scene to write in the series so
far?
I'm
not sure that any scene is easier than any other. My favourite scenes are
always the ones where the characters finally have it out, after circling each
other like hungry jackals for a few chapters. The ones where the truth comes
out at last.
6. Who designs the covers to The Seven Signs series?
Aren't
they awesome! I adore these covers. They're dark, colourful and a little crazy,
which is exactly what the books are. The art is done in-house at the publisher,
and the designers are Kris Keller and Rita Frangie.
7. Fun question: If you could have dinner with one famous person,
dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Batman.
No, wait. How about Julius Caesar? He'd have some cool after-dinner stories. Or
maybe that guy who's in the Guinness Book of Records for eating a bicycle.
That'd be something to see!
8. Fun question: If you could have any super power, what would it
be and why?
Hmm.
It would be cool to be able to fly. But that's doesn't really count as a super
power, does it? It's just a thing superheroes do while they're breaking
concrete with their bare hands or controlling people's minds or whatever. I
think I'd like to be an evil genius. So I'd need super-intelligence, a knack
for gadgets, and a really cool malevolent laugh.
9. What is up next for Erica Hayes?
Well,
I believe I'll finish this tasty caramel latte. Wouldn't want to plan too far
ahead…
Book-wise,
I have a sexy vampire romance called HUNTER'S HEART coming out soon in ebook.
Also coming up, another cool sekrit projekt that I'm keeping under wraps for
now {cough zombie romance cough}.
10. Do you have anything specific you would like to say to your readers?
Thanks
for being so awesome! We all have thousands of books to choose from these days
and I'm so pleased you chose to try mine. I hope you enjoy them!

Description:
Japheth the
Tainted is on the hunt for a mysterious demon vampire. But meeting her
face-to-face might disarm his warrior spirit—and spark an unquenchable passion
with apocalyptic consequences.
As a fallen angel, Japheth is determined to make his way back to heaven by
staying pure and slaying hellspawn. With a new scourge of vampires unleashed by
a blood-drinking demon, the Prince of Thirst, there’s plenty to be done. But
Japheth is after one vampire in particular—the one they call the Angel Slayer.
Rose Harley never wanted to be a vampire, but the Prince of Thirst can turn
even the kindest soul into a soldier of hell. Feeling abandoned by God, she
stalks the West Village taking revenge on his angels—until she meets her match.
When Japheth and Rose encounter each other, the battle is fierce and charged
with desire. But when they discover a common enemy—the Prince of Thirst
himself—they form a dangerous alliance that could either cost them their eternal
lives, or spark a love more powerful than heaven or hell.
That honey-blood voice quivered Japheth’s feathers taut.
She grinned, mocking. Leaning against the redbrick wall beneath a rusted fire escape, steeped in magical shadow and hot vampire stink.
He stared, dumb. Tall for a girl, only a head shorter than he. Long legs, encased in blue jeans and black army boots. Her short black t-shirt stretched over full breasts, flashing that tempting skin above a silver belt buckle. Her bare arms shone, muscular but womanly. Sexy dimples in her cheeks, perfectly shaped for cupping in his palms.
The bloody feathers of slain angels, gold and white and red, stuck through the thick dark braid she tossed over her shoulder. A few wisps escaped to play around her face in the summer-night breeze. He wanted to trace their path with his fingertips, cheekbone to chin to cherry-ripe lips . . .
“Matter of fact, I am,” he said tightly. “Your sniveling master. Fluvium, is it? Prince of Thirst? Tell me where he is and I might kill you quickly.”
She laughed, fangs glinting. Sharp, lethal like a tigress’s. “You’ve come to kill Fluvium? Good luck with that.” She lolled on one foot, eyeing him speculatively, sizing up her prey. “Japheth, right? Of the Tainted Host? Cute name, for a hamster.”
Sweet lord, his name in her mouth sounded . . . dirty. He swallowed, rough. “How’d you know that?”
“I know my enemy.” She licked ripe lips.
“Yeah?” he said coldly. “Well, I don’t want to know you, whore. I don’t care what your name is—”
“Rose Harley,” she cut in swiftly, with a wicked grin. “Whoops. Too late. Sorry about that. You like it anonymous, don’t you? So you can pretend they’re not people when you damn them to eternal torment?”
His grip spasmed around his sword. Sweet heaven, he wanted to stab her. Fill her with burning steel. Twist it, thrust it deeper, make her moan . . . “You don’t need me to damn you. You made your choice. Tell me where Fluvium’s hiding, and I’ll put you out of your misery.”
She laughed again, and strolled towards him, hands in pockets. “You sure could learn a thing or two from demons about making deals. Like, I dunno. Offering me something I actually want?”
Her knife still lay sheathed, in her thigh holster. Unafraid, was she? Grudging admiration tingled under his skin, and he crackled it off. Nothing admirable about a demon minion’s attitude. “So you do know where he’s hiding, then.”
“And what if I do?” She draped her sultry gaze over his silver-clad chest, his bare arms, his glowing blue sword . . . Her scrutiny flushed treacherous heat right to the top of his head. He could smell her, blood and corruption, yes, but underneath, the hot salty musk of female flesh . . .
Surely, she was his nemesis. Sent to tempt him into falling. Well, he wouldn’t give in. Not when he was so close to redemption.

Blog Tour: "Redemption" by Elise Marion (Character Interview/Excerpt/Giveaway)
Welcome to our stop on Virtual Blog Tour of "Redemption" by Elise Marion.
Character Interview with Reniel, Angel of War
In preparation for writing the Angels Among Us trilogy, I had to do my
research on Angel and Demon mythology. It was definitely an interesting topic,
one with so much information that I’d never be able to include it all, no
matter how much I might want to. While I got a lot of valuable information online
and in books, I thought that going straight to the source might give me more of
an edge. I mean, how much better would it be for me to get the information
straight from the horse’s mouth, right?
Meet Reniel, Angel of War, an
enticing specimen when in his human form: six foot five, white-blond hair,
green eyes and a face that looks like something out of a Calvin Klein ad. We
met at a busy coffee shop in New York City, the place where Reniel spends most
of his time while on Earth. He was gracious enough to answer a few questions
for me.
Elise: Reniel,
it’s so nice of you to sit down and share with me and my fans. We really
appreciate it. As you know, the Angels
Among Us series is about forbidden love between Angels and humans. Many may
not understand why such a love would be forbidden. Would you explain to
everyone why?
Reniel:
Certainly. It’s quite simple, really. Angels are divine beings. We are created
with a specific purpose in mind, and on the day of our birth we are pure. It is
our mission to maintain the purity, as sullying that chastity has caused many
before us to lose sight of our cause.
Elise: And
what cause is that?
Reniel: The
war against Hell, of course. We are in a battle of souls here, and each and
every one of us plays an important role.
Elise: You
speak as if you have lived for a very long time. In the time that you’ve served
on the side of good, how many Angels have you seen break these rules? What are
the consequences?
Reniel: I am
over three hundred years old, and I have lost count of the number of Angels who
have fallen because they lose sight of what’s important. It’s not just romantic
relationships with humans either. I have also seen many of my kind fall prey to
vices such as drugs and alcohol. They are strong temptations, but we are a
special race … we must be strong in the face of temptation. The consequences
are dire; damnation, to be exact.
Elise: It
seems like a harsh punishment.
Reniel: It is
necessary. There have to be lines between our side and their side. If we allow
ourselves to be driven by our impulses, then we are no better than the Demons
we fight against every day.
Elise: Well
said, Reniel. Now, would you tell us a bit about the final book in the trilogy,
Redemption?
Reniel: Certainly.
This story is about my dear friend and fellow warrior Angel, Nathaniel. He and
I are of the same age and underwent our training together under the Archangel
Michael. Unfortunately, Nathaniel is one of those I spoke of before … one who
lost sight of his purpose and fell in love with a human woman. As one of the
Fallen, he is now cursed. His heart is overtaken by a demonic force, one that
continues to grow and will soon consume him. He fights it, but he will not be
strong enough to keep it up for long. Meanwhile, a child born of a forbidden love
will become a pawn in a deadly game between the Prince of Darkness and
Nathaniel, who he hopes to control by abducting the child. Nathaniel will have
to face the consequences of what he’s done and fight for his son. Carmen, the
mother of his child and woman he loves will face her own destiny in this
supernatural war as well. It is the end of something, but also the beginning.
Elise: Sounds
like quite a story.
Reniel: It
truly is. I worry that no matter how hard we fight, the end may not be a happy
one.

“I can’t believe you’ve never been salsa
dancing! You’re a natural. Are you sure one of your parents isn’t Puerto
Rican?”
Nathan laughed as he looped one arm around her
waist, sending small shivers travelling up and down her spine. He pulled her
against his side as they walked, leaving La Riviera salsa club behind.
“No,” he said with a devastatingly beautiful
smile. “No Puerto Rican parents. I don’t know, it just seemed easy to fall into
the rhythm with you there.”
Carmen didn’t miss the way his eyes traveled
over her crimson halter top, flowing black skirt, and three-inch heels. The
heat that passed between them was undeniable, now and on the dance floor. What
Carmen could not understand was why Nathan had not yet kissed her. As they walked,
Carmen felt the tension thrumming through his body. She’d seen his eyes
lingering on her lips countless times; in the hospital, at the park where
they’d picnicked and even tonight at the club. Why then, after the weeks they’d
spent together, was he holding back?
“I’m glad you had a good time,” she said softly,
watching the concrete sidewalk pass under her feet as they walked. Nathan’s
hand tightened at her hip and he pulled her to a stop just a few blocks away
from her apartment building.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, bringing one hand up
to cup her face.
She sighed and leaned into his hand, moaning low
in her throat as he caressed her jaw with his thumb. Her eyes traveled over his
face; dark skin, full lips, chiseled jaw and chin, and warm whiskey brown eyes
that probed hers with raw intensity. It was as if he could see right into her
soul. No man had ever looked at her that way. Sure, they’d all admired her
body. Her blatantly sensual curves begged for attention. They noticed her
pretty face and ample hips, but not one of them looked at her. Not the way
Nathan did.
“I don’t want you to get the wrong idea,” she
said reluctantly as she brought one hand up to his chest.
He smiled and slid his hand from her face to
place it over her hand where it rested against his heart. She felt the heat of
him emanating through his shirt. “What is it, beautiful?”
Her stomach clenched and the back of her neck
tingled. How was it that this man made her so weak with just his words? She was
already melting into a puddle at his feet and he had barely even touched her.
“Why won’t you kiss me?” she blurted before she
had a chance to think about what she was saying.
Nathan frowned, his eyes lowering as he clenched
her hand against his chest.
“Carmen,” he began, his voice serious.
Her eyes grew wide as she pulled her hand away.
A step separated them and then another. Carmen’s heart stung from rejection.
“I understand,” she said. “You don’t have to say
it. I thought you were attracted to me, but if you’re not—”
He closed the distance between them in an
instant, bringing both hands up to her face this time. His body seared hers as
their hips and thighs met and his forehead rested against hers.
“Dear God, Carmen, how could you think that? I’m
so attracted to you that it hurts. It keeps me up at night. I am tortured with
thoughts of you, every day and every night. I want to touch you and hold you
and caress your skin. I want to kiss you and know what your lips feel like. I
want to taste your tongue, your skin, your…” he trailed off, dragging in a
ragged breath and releasing it with a frustrated groan.
“Can’t you feel it? I know you can.”
She nodded, their lips brushing as she did. He
gasped, his lips trembling against hers. “Yes,” she whispered. Yes, she felt
it, her skin was on fire.
“Carmen, please,” he pleaded, his hands shaking
as they lowered to her waist. “I can’t…”
Even as he said the words, his open mouth was
roaming over her face, caressing her eyelid and her temple before trailing down
to her cheek. The fire blazing through her veins was now a raging inferno as
his warm breath tickled her skin.
“I can’t,” he moaned against her lips, his
breath coming in ragged gasps. As his fingers flexed against her skin, the
small space separating their bodies closed and Carmen stifled a gasp at the
feel of her sensitized breasts coming to rest against his hard, heaving chest.
“I can’t.”
His mouth hovered over hers, achingly, a sweet
and terrible torture strong enough to reduce her to begging.
“Nathan,” she murmured. She wanted to say more. She
wanted to ask all of the questions that bounced around in her head. Why can’t
you? Why are you holding yourself back from me? Why won’t you just carry me up
to my apartment and take me like we both know you want to?
But his name lingered between them, a plea, a
prayer. Her hands clutched his lapel tightly as she closed the distance between
them, sealing their lips together with a sigh. Nathan gasped into her mouth,
his hands sweeping up from her hips to her back. His fingers dug into her skin
as he pressed her against him, as tightly as possible, mating his mouth to
hers.
They trembled, lost in their own seductive haze
as they kissed beneath the yellow light of a glowing street lamp. His lips were
unbelievably soft, pliant but moving with sureness as he drank from her lips as
if she held his last breath. The kiss became wilder, more frenzied as their
tongues touched, sparking a desire than ran deeper than ever and exploded into
possessive need.
She felt the tightness of his muscles beneath
her hands as she ran them over him; his chest, his shoulders, his back. She
shuddered against him as his hands explored as well, roaming over her breasts
and ribs before settling on her generous bottom, pressing her fully up against
the hardening ridge between his hips.
When he finally tore his mouth away from her,
they were both gasping for air. With every second that she stood in his arms,
desire grew and swelled within her until she felt as if one touch from him
would send her spiraling over the edge. He released her from his tight hold and
reached for her hand, his eyes still wide and frantic as she placed her palm in
his.
“Let’s get you home,” he said, his voice a raspy
whisper. Tension coiled between them the entire walk home.
She’d thought that a kiss would satisfy her.
She’d wanted it for weeks, wishing that he would sweep her against him and
press his mouth to hers as he just had. But it just hadn’t been enough. As he
kissed her goodnight—on the cheek—and left her apartment that night, Carmen
knew that just one kiss would never be enough.
