Review - "Fantasy Lover" by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Fantasy Lover
(Dark-Hunter #0)

Author:  Sherrilyn Kenyon
Publisher:  St. Martin's Paperbacks
Release Date:  2/18/2002
Genre:  Paranormal Romance
Source: Amazon (Bought)

Summary
As a sex therapist Grace Alexander should know a thing or two about sex and she should probably have experience with it too. Unfortunately she doesn’t really have much experience, at least not a good one. Thanks to being burned in the past she doesn’t trust easily. So for her birthday her friend gives her a magical book that if done right will release her own personal love slave for one month. Of course she finds that idea ridiculous until she finds a very large, very sexy and very naked man standing in her living room.

Jullian is half human/half god, son of Aphrodite, and in his own time he was a war general of sorts. Because of a curse cast by his own brother, he has been trapped in a book for 2,000 years, only being released to pleasure woman after woman but this time that doesn’t happen. Grace is different. She won’t use his body like other women because she sees a man not a love slave. So she decided she must try to free him. But does he stay with her if he’s freed or does he go back home to his time?

My Review
I have no sufficient words to describe how much I loved this book. So I’ll just say it plainly….I LOVED this book so much!!! It was such an incredible story! Jullian is such a sweetheart. Even with his background of such unimaginable cruelty forced on him by his own father, he still has such a caring heart. He’s always thoughtful of Grace, making sure she’s ok and happy. It’s really really sweet. Grace was a great heroine for this book. She fit so well with Julian, they were perfect for each other. She was never annoying or whiny like most heroines can be.

The other characters were great too. Serena was hilarious! I thought she made a great addition to the story and thank god Grace had her. No one would get bored with Serena around. It was pretty cool to get a few glimpses of some of the gods and goddess’ too. Aphrodite was a little annoying but oh well and  Cupid was funny, I love that he’s a biker!

I will admit this book was a bit cheesy but hey, it’s romance. Romance should be a little cheesy, so don’t let that stop you from reading it because it really is a great book. The romance is good, the action is good too. It all evens out well! I’m really really looking forward to really diving into this whole series, Dark Hunters, Were Hunters, Dream Hunters and the Chronicles of Nick. I plan to read every single one of them in the order recommended so I can get the full enjoyment out of them.
