Review - "Unearthly" by Cynthia Hand

Unearthly
(Unearthly #1)
Publishing Date: 1/4/11
Publisher: HarperTeen
Genre: YA
Source: Library Book

Description:
Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy. Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side. As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

My Review:
(Originally Reviewed on Mrs. Papillion aka "The Book Worm")
Five Stars, Two Thumbs up, and All 10 Toes up too...that is how much I loved this book. I haven't read a good Young Adult book in awhile and this one blew it away. Thank you, Cynthia Hand for your version of Angels. I loved this book! I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series and finding out what Clara's real mission was. From beginning to end of book, I was in AWE. I just couldn't put this book down until I knew what happened next.
Clara is given her vision, which is her purpose, so her and her family are forced to a new state, new town and new school. Her main goal is to find out what that purpose is. What draws her there is a boy that has is back to her in the vision. She doesn't figure who it is until she goes to school. What she doesn't know is that vision changes after awhile. Everything she does, leads up to what is next in the vision. She never though she would fall in love with another boy though, named Tucker, who is her best friend's twin brother.
I fell in love with Clara and Tucker in this book. I wasn't liking the fact the book was taking a turn to think that Clara was meant to be with the boy in the vision who happens to be Christian. Why? Why would the vision say she needed to be with him? That is one thing left hanging at the end of the book. Tucker is the Boy for her...he was there for her during the summertime when everyone left her. You know the saying, the boy who picks on you at school, actually has a crush on you...well...it lives up to it in this book.
I hope Cynthia Hand chooses Tucker for Clara in the next book. I also want to know what exactly was Clara's purpose and why she was supposed to save Christian...which you have read this book, you find out it's not the deal. The book leaves you confused just as much as Clara is.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves Young Adult and also loves reading about Angels. Cynthia Hand takes you into a different world about Angels and also introduces a different style of Fallen Angels.
