Review: "Redemption" by Elise Marion
Redemption
(Angels Among Us #3)
by: Elise Marion
Publishing Date: 11/15/12
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Source: Provided by Author
Description:
In a world full of the sick and dying, the hurting and desperate, and those lost in darkness, angels dwell.
Once a Warrior Angel, Nathaniel has now become one of the Fallen, after losing sight of his purpose. Fallen angels are cursed to wander the depths for all of eternity, a fate that Nathan has avoided every day for the past seven years. As the demon within him grows, he knows that it is only a matter of time until he becomes a monster. His love of a human woman is what caused him to lose his wings, yet Nathan cannot bring himself to regret it, or the child that came of their love. It is that child’s identity as a Naphil—half angel, half human—that threatens the existence of everyone he loves and Nathan finds himself having to face his past in order to secure his son’s future.
Carmen Rodriguez lives her life in constant fear. The power of her son grows every day, leaving him vulnerable to the plans of the Evil One. When a demon’s bold abduction puts Carmen in a desperate position, she turns to the only one who can bring him back. Nathan warns her that the road to rescuing their son will be a treacherous one … one that leads them straight into lair of the Prince of Darkness.
The third and final installment of the Angels Among Us series goes where it never has before.
Even in the very pits of hell, can an angel find salvation? Will the love that Nathan has for Carmen and his son be enough, or will Nathan finally have to face the consequences of his actions.
Is there redemption for the Fallen?

My Review:
The last installment to the Angels Among Us Trilogy was full of emotions, action, and very steamy scenes.
It definitely ended the Angels Among Us books very well and also opened up a new installment that I know Elise Marion will make us love just like she did with the Angels.
Nathaniel was a Warrior Angel at one time, until he fell in love and made the mistake of pursing that love. He knew that he should not have fallen for the beautiful woman he met while dancing. He knew his actions would lead him losing his wings forever and becoming one of the Fallen. He could not stop his feelings for the beautiful woman though who captured his heart and now she needs his help more than ever...but he has been dealing with 7 years of not turning into the demon that he made himself become.
Carmen Rodriguez has been trying to move on with her life with her son who is Nathaniel's. She did not know that one night of passion would give her such an amazing son who now has Guardians looking after him since demons want her son to help them in their battle. Her son is going to be one very powerful Naphil (half angel/half human). His Guardians who are Sarah and Jackson will do about anything to keep himself. He even has a Warrior Angel by the name of Reniel to keep him safe as well.
Unfortunately, they were not prepared for what the demon who wants him for himself to open a portal and steal him in minced a battle.
Now...Nathaniel has to help his past love to find their son and bring him back...and also help Carmen with her Oracle powers that she is still trying to learn.
I could go on in the description of the book, but I will give too much away. This is the final installment so I definitely do not want to give it away.
Elise Marion definitely made the Angels Among Us go out with a bang. She also picked the perfect characters to finish the trilogy as well. She even brought in previous characters from "Tempted" since they played a vital role in this book. Can I just say...I love Reniel from the previous book and now this book even more. =)
I felt a very close connection with the character, Carmen, since she is one strong female who can handle anything and she will do anything to get her son back.
Nathaniel who had me fighting his demon from taking over was amazing as well. He fought the hardest of them all because he did not want to become what Lucifer wanted him to be.
The ending was epic and I definitely look forward to the spin-off series even more after getting a small glimpse into it at the end of "Redemption". I was wondering since there was questions at the end that needed to be answered.
Even the angels said there's more going on that needs to be finished. Angels Among Us, just introduced us to three angels who fell in love and how they were able to live their lives with their loved ones. There's a battle now that needs to be conquered...or should I say battles.
Elise Marion definitely did not disappoint in the last book and it definitely had me crying as well. I love her writing style since it is very descriptive, powerful, and emotional.
If you have not read this trilogy yet, what are you waiting for.
Warning though, you will miss the Angels after your done reading all 3 books.
I was provided a complimentary copy of "Redemption" from the Author in exchange for an honest review.

Review: "Tempted" by Elise Marion
Tempted
(Angels Among Us #2)
by: Elise Marion
Publishing Date: 5/8/12
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Source: Bought for Kindle (Amazon)
Description:
In a world full of the sick and dying, the hurting and desperate, and those lost in darkness, angels dwell. Messenger angel Sarah is focused, dedicated to the cause of heaven in the war against hell. For centuries she has watched other angels succumb to temptation and break the rules governing relationships between angels and humans. Sarah has vowed to never become one of the ‘Fallen’ angels, now demons cursed to wander the depths of hell for eternity. She knows that she is stronger than the others, incapable of emotional attachment and the feelings of love and desire that can be so dangerous to her kind.
Jackson Bennett is alone in the world, and he prefers it that way. The former Army sergeant has seen more death than any human ought to experience in one lifetime. Even his dreams are haunted by the faces of those who have lost their lives because of him. He feels lost, purposeless, until an encounter with an angel reveals the secret purpose that he was made for. Born of a superior race of humans, Jackson learns of a special assignment. Should he accept, he will become an important part of world that exists between heaven, hell, and earth. After all that he has been through, Jackson doesn’t know if he’s ready to take on such a heavy responsibility; what he does know is that he could lose himself in the eyes of Sarah, the intriguing angel assigned to him. She is the only person who seems to understand the darkness and pain that have enveloped his heart; she is the only person capable of driving them away.
In a battle between love or loneliness, divinity or damnation, Sarah’s choice once seemed easy. What she finds is that the black and white lines that once defined her world are now impossibly blurred and gray. What she finds is that she may not be not quite as strong as she thought.

My Review:
"Tempted" is the second book in the Angels Among Us Trilogy and it definitely was another tear jerker.
This is the story of Sarah who is a messenger angel who knows the rights and wrongs of what a angel is supposed to do...and one of those wrongs is getting involved with a human. An angel could lose her wings over it and become one of the Fallen Angels. It was just recently Sarah witnessed another angel become a Fallen since she had to make sure it happened.
Sarah is about to break her main rule though all because of a former soldier who has been dealing with his own insecurities and past issues from what happened during the time he was in the Army.
Jackson Bennett is alone due to almost causing harm to his family. He suffers with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after witnessing some of his fellow soldiers dying. He blames it on himself and he is still having a hard time getting over it. He is forced now to be by himself and spy on his son go to school in the morning when his wife drops him off.
Sarah is assigned to Jackson due to Jackson being special and coming into powers. God, himself, wants Sarah to help Jackson come over to the good side. She cannot force him though, he has to have his own free will to come over. Jackson is going to learn the true reason on what happened that fateful night that change his life when he was in the Army and also find out the truth on what he is destined to do. In the mean time though Jackson will have to fight his feelings for the beautiful woman, Sarah, who walks into his life and also believe her when she says she's not from his world and she can never be apart of his world forever.
My thoughts on "Tempted" are of course another tear jerker. I should just prepare myself ahead of time when it comes to Elise Marion and her writing style. She knows how to make a reader's emotions go haywire. I am a huge fan when it comes to angels and it seems every time I read a paranormal romance book that involves angels, the water works start falling.
Elise Marion definitely made me fall in love with the characters in "Tempted" as well, just like I did in "Fallen." I had already read a little bit on Sarah since she debuted in "Fallen". She definitely was one female character who kept to her job as a Angel...although...Jackson is one male character, which I still do not know how Sarah kept from jumping on the minute she saw him.
Sarah helped Jackson's character and Jackson did the same thing for Sarah. They definitely were meant to be with each other from the beginning. Jackson with his demons inside of him, needed Sarah's love and caring to help him through and Sarah needed Jackson for his toughness and stubbornness.
"Tempted" actually left me wondering what will happen in the next book since there were some unanswered questions at the end, especially when the truth came about with Jackson and what he was supposed to do. Also, with what eventually happened to Sarah.
"Tempted" is a book that will make you realize how tough it is for soldiers who suffer with PTSD. Elise Marion definitely did her research on it and it definitely touched my heart. You only get to see what the media puts out and not from a perspective of the soldier. Even if it is fictional in "Tempted", you have to realize that PTSD is a very serious illness that affects soldiers/sailors/marines/airmen who have gone through war.
I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers, readers who love angels and demons, and readers who enjoy an emotional ride. You'll definitely feel the pain and love from both characters and you'll want to read the next book right away.

The Demoness

by: Stephanie Chong

Publisher: Harlequin MIRA
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Description:
Even ANGELS can be tough... Ex-cop Brandan Clarkson is an angel with an edge. His tough exterior is the perfect camouflage for his job-hunting down the most dangerous criminals on earth. Brendan's a self-reliant and demanding lone wolf, constantly on the brink of clashing with his superiors at the Company of Angels.
Brandan is the perfect angel to track and capture demoness Luciana Rossetti. Luciana's cool, green-eyed beauty masks her true nature: inside, she's a dangerous and malevolent killer. Yet, she sees what most people don't-that beneath the layers of Brandan's rugged shell beats the heart of a passionate lover.
They are perfectly matched. Yin and yang. Angel and demon. Man and woman. But only one of them can win the battle of wills, of strength and of desire.

My Review:
I have been waiting forever for this book. Well...not forever, but it felt like that. I absolutely love "The Company of Angels" books by Stephanie Chong. I fell in love with the characters in the first book in "Where Demons Fear to Tread" last year. I just knew I would love this one too.
I remember, the female character, Luciana in the first book and I was excited to read more about her in this book. (I really did not like her in the first book...but she grew on me in this book)
Luciana has fled to Venice, Italy to do her duty of giving the devil his yearly duty. Once in Venice, she tracks down her sacrifice, but ends up running into one of the Company of Angels.
She ends up not making the sacrifice in time thanks to the Angel. In the mean time, she has to find away to make it up to her big boss...but the Angel of course is not making it easy for her.
She even has her past lover...threatening her...so it is not going to be easy for Luciana to make her boss happy again.
Brandon, the angel that interferes with Luciana's plan is trying to capture Luciana for the Company of Angels. She is his assignment...but of course, he finds Luciana to be misunderstood. He feels she could change and he is finding her very irresistible.
Of course...in "The Demoness of Waking Dreams", other characters are brought back from the first book...that I really was excited to read about. Corbin (who was such a jerk in the first book), Julian (who I have a HUGE crush on..yes I know he is fictional...but he stole my heart), and several others that I do not what to name. I'll give away too much.
New characters are introduced as well...who I hope come back in the third book.
My thoughts on The Demoness of Waking Dreams...I loved every minute of it and had a hard time putting down my Kindle. I would read while doing other things. (laundry, etc.) I'm a multi-tasker...I can read as well as take care of things around me. At least I tried to. =)
I loved the storyline for Luciana and Brandon. Luciana has her own story and so does Brandon. Both of their stories broke my heart. I could not believe what actually happened to Brandon at the end. I would be upset as well.
Oh let me not forget that Julian ends up in the story...and of course I find out more about him and what happened between him and Luciana. =)
Luciana and Brandon were perfect for each other. Luciana helped Brandon out with his problems and Brandon helped Luciana. =)
I could go on and on, how much I loved this book...but of course I do not want to spoil this book for anyone.
The ending, I was definitely not expecting. I'm a little interested on what is going to happen in the third book now.
I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers, angel and demon addicts (like myself) and fans of Stephanie Chong. You definitely will be amazed on what happens in this book.
If you read the first book, you will enjoy to read about the previous characters, like I did. =)
My dream is to do a character interview with Julian in the future. *sigh* He definitely is a FAVE of mine.
Let me not to forget to mention that Stephanie Chong has a fan for life.
Countdown to Book 3 is now on. =)

Review - "Angel Betrayed" by Cynthia Eden
Angel Betrayed
(The Fallen #2)
by: Cynthia Eden
Publishing Date: 6/26/12
Publisher: Brava
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Source: Netgalley
Buy: Amazon or Barnes & Noble
Description:
A LITTLE BIT OF ANGEL LUST.
Sammael – call him Sam – was an angel once. An angel of death. But the dispassionate, watch-from-above thing just wasn’t working for him when it meant watching evil torture innocent souls day in and day out. It might have cost him his wings, but these days, he gets to apply the direct method on the bad guys. Problem is, what’s making his life difficult is a bad girl…
Seline O’Shaw needs protection, and with the hounds of hell on her tail, she’s not going to quibble too hard about where she gets it. Sam’s virtue is questionable, but he’s smoking hot, massively powerful, and owes her a favor. So what if she’s getting a little case of angel lust? There are some damn deadly sins after her hide…

My Review:
I was so happy that Netgalley had this book before it's release date. I think I screamed like a little girl when I got it. I love Cynthia Eden's books. =) Unfortunately, it took me longer to read it due to other things in life that took precedence. Boo! Let's just say this Book Mama was not very happy to put "Angel Betrayed" off for awhile to do college homework. Grr! Don't these professors know I need my Romance books to keep me sane? Geez!
I've been counting down the days to read Sammael's story since he was introduced in Angel of Darkness. For some reason, I grew attached to him because he is such a bad ass.
I wanted to know which female character would tame this fallen angel and I also wanted to know why he fell.
Cynthia definitely picked the best female character to capture Sam's heart. I was definitely not disappointed.
Sammael, fell centuries ago because he took matters into his own hands to kill men off that weren't supposed to die yet. He also enjoyed it a little too much. (once I read why he killed the men...I understood why he did it...and I couldn't blame him...I think I would've done the same thing)
He now owns a club called Sunrise where he meets, Seline.
Seline is a half-breed. (She's half succubus, half angel) She actually has a mission to take out Sammael from someone who wants to punish Sam. Unfortunately, that mission goes not as planned. Who can resist the sexy fallen angel, Sam? Although, she doesn't know what he is until later. She needs Sam's help on gaining her freedom from the person who wants Sam dead. Sam does not want to help her at first until he realizes what she is and how she could help him find Azrael. (another fallen angel...who also appeared in Angel of Darkness)
Both of them are now being hunted by the same guy and fallen angels are being killed everywhere now. It's up to Sam and Seline to find the fallen angels that are on the hit list to save them.
My thoughts on "Angel Betrayed" were of course not disappointed. I love Cynthia Eden's Fallen Angel world she has created. It's way different from any other fallen angel stories out there. I also learned there are other types of angel in this book (not just Angel's of Death) that weren't introduced in the previous book. Yes...definitely like the way Cynthia has taken this world.
I loved Seline's character and how strong she was and how she could take care of herself. I loved her abilities and I loved how she handled Sam in the book.
I adore Sam...and he is my FAVE of the Fallen Angel's...(probably until I read Azrael's story) Found something out about Azrael in this book that I wasn't expecting. =)
Sam in my opinion could have been forgiven for what he did to those men before he fell, but of course that's now how it works in the angels world.
There was a lot of action in this book and of course some steamy scenes between Sam and Seline. (Jealous...of Seline...just letting everyone know...damn her)
Now I have to wait until the next book comes out. I can wait patiently. At least try too. =)
Thanks Cynthia Eden for creating these Fallen Angel series. =)
I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers out there, fans of Cynthia Eden, and of course those readers who love reading about sexy fallen angels. You will definitely not be disappointed in these books. =)

ARC Review - "Wicked Nights" by Gena Showalter (Surprise Giveaway)
Wicked Nights
(Angels of the Dark #1)
by: Gena Showalter
Publishing Date: 6/26/12
Publisher: Harlequin
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Source: Provided by Author
Buy: Amazon or Barnes & Noble
Description:
From the New York Times bestselling
author who brought you the Lords of the Underworld comes a dark,
seductive new series featuring angels poised on the brink of
destruction....
Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens, Zacharel has been deemed nearly too dangerous, too ruthless-and if he isn't careful, he'll lose his wings. But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred from his missions, at any cost...until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure he's never known before.
Accused of a crime she did not commit, Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane. Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her. Zacharel is her only hope for survival, but is the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell her salvation-or her ultimate damnation?

My Review:
Where do I start with this new series that Gena Showalter has created?
First off, we're inside of Zacharel's head in "Wicked Nights". If you're a huge fan of Gena Showalter's and have read her Lords of the Underworld Series, you know who Zacharel already is.
In the Wicked Nights, we find out Zacharel has been tasked to run the most powerful angel army in the heavens. Of course there's a catch though...the angels he leads are on dangerous ground...they're a danger to themselves and everyone around them. If Zacharel doesn't straighten them out, he may end up losing his wings. He has to prove to his deity that he can be a leader and help train these ruthless Angels. If he doesn't...he's punished for what he does, but also what they do wrong.
We're introduced to Annabelle Miller, a human who was accused of a killing her parents at the age of 18, which she didn't do. Now she's forced to live in the walls of Moffat County Institution where she is being treated. The doctor who is supposed to be treating her, instead is abusing her mentally and physically. She also can see things that normal humans can't see. She has demons tracking her wherever she goes and now they are upon Moffat County Insitution.
Zacharel and his band of Angels are sent to the Moffat County Institution to find out why the demons are attracted to the place and kill them, as long as they aren't humans who are demon-possessed (which they can not kill).
Zacharel comes upon Annabelle and for the moment he meets her, he knows he's in trouble. Zacharel is not meant to save Annabelle...but of course everything in his world is about to change because of Annabelle and her past. It's up to Zacharel to find out why Demons are tracking Annabelle...and also find out what happened to Annabelle and why she can see the demons...etc.
I won't go any further...because this book has so much going on, I don't want to spoil anything.
My thoughts on "Wicked Nights" of course is that it's a great start to a new series. In fact it's a great start to a spin-off series of Lords of the Underworld. =) I was so excited to find out that Gena was doing a spin off...especially when it includes Angels. (I'm a sucker for a sexy male Angel)
I fell in love with the stubborn, tough, sexy Zacharel in the LOTU Series. To be able to find out what makes Zacharel tick...I was definitely onboard to read his book. Now, after reading it, I'm looking forward to the next books. It definitely keeps me sane waiting for the next LOTU book and you'll see why when you read "Wicked Nights". Oh yes...Gena throws in surprises. I was so giddy reading this book, my hubby was about to send me to the doctor to get checked out.
I fell in love Annabelle because she's a strong-willed female character who can take care of herself. I don't know how many times she stood up to Zacharel. (because I lost count)
I loved the storyline that Gena Showalter created in "Wicked Nights". She of course threw in extra stuff to prepare you for the next book or books. You'll get to read about the other Angels too in "Wicked Nights". I don't know if Koldo or Thane is my fave yet, after Zacharel. I'll have to wait and read their books.
I'm going to admit again, how addicted I am to Gena's writing style. She's one of my FAVE Authors and with this spin-off series...she didn't disappoint at all. I will find myself re-reading this book because I still can't believe what happened and who ended up being the bad guy in this book. Plus...other reasons I will not discuss on why I want to re-read it.
If you haven't read any of Gena Showalter's books, what are you waiting for?
If your thinking about reading this book, but haven't read the LOTU Series, I recommend you read that series first. You will thank me later. =)
I recommend this book to ALL Paranormal Romance Readers out there, and of course die hard Gena Showalter Fans. If you've read Kresley Cole's IAD Series, you'll love the LOTU and "Wicked Nights" by Gena Showalter.
Now what are you waiting for buy yourself a copy of "Wicked Nights" and get to reading...
This Book Lovin' Mama is counting down to Gena Showalter's next book...patiently.........(trying to at least) =)

Now for ALL you lovely Ladies out there...I have a paperback copy of "Dark Taste of Rapture" that is authographed by the fabulous Gena Showalter up for grabs.
Just fill out the Rafflecopter below for your chance to win.
"Dark Taste of Rapture" is from Gena Showalter's other series the "Alien Huntress Series".
It was released last August.
Good luck to everyone who enters. =)

Review - "Silence" by Becca Fitzpatrick
Silence
(Hush, Hush #3)
Publishing Date: 10/4/11
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
Genre: YA
Source: Kindle Edition (Bought)
Buy: Amazon or Barnes & Noble
Description:
The noise between Patch and Nora is gone. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced heart-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for—and their love—forever.

My Review:
(Originally Reviewed on Mrs. Papillion aka "The Book Worm")
I was really looking forward to reading Silence once I got it on my Kindle, but unfortunately, I wasn't really impressed with it like I was the first two books. =(
I still love you, Becca Fitzpatrick. I was just a little disappointed with the storyline and what happened to Nora. I mean, she missed months of her life and didn't remember. It also felt really predictable.
The beginning to the end, didn't have me excited like the first two books did. I also was upset that Patch didn't come into the book until the middle of it. Grrr!!! He's my favorite character out of the story. Oh and don't get me started on the kidnapper who took Nora. Really...?! That really pissed me off.
I did like the ending though and what Nora is going to have to do. I was a little surprised on what happened to Nora too. Eek! She really got herself into a lot of mess.
Other than that...I hope the 4th book gets my interest again.
I know I've heard people say that they're upset that Becca decided to have a 4th book because supposedly this was her last book for the Hush Hush series. We all know a Author can change their minds and we also know a Publisher could've had influence on it too. I'm looking forward to the fourth book. I want to know what happens next in the story between Nora and Patch. I really want to know where Becca is going to take it from the ending she left with "Silence".
I always love a Author who feels they have more to write about. So, Becca...I'm one of those readers that is anxiously waiting for the 4th book. You still have love from me...I just think "Silence" isn't my fave of the series.

My Review:
(Originally Reviewed on Mrs. Papillion aka "The Book Worm")
This review is a little different...I'm not going to go over the story, but what I loved about the book the most.
Everyone has their own opinion on angels and demons. Some people didn't like this novel due to how Stephanie Chong betrayed the world of Angels and Demons. Me, personally...from the first page to the last page of this novel....I was BEYOND interested. I had a hard time putting down this book. I finished this book at 1 am in the morning. I was determined to find out what happened next and what would happen to the characters. I wanted a happy ending already.
First and foremost...I have to say this...this book has become my FAVE of 2011. It may of surpassed "The Mummy" by Anne Rice which is my ALL time favorite book I've ever read. I will say this...the series will probably becomes my FAVE once the 2nd book comes out.
Stephanie Chong has a LIFETIME Fan now. I love her writing style. I loved the characters in this book. I especially think that Julian may have become my #1 Sexy Male Character who I wouldn't mind knowing in REAL Life. I will say this he can kind of compare to my hubby when it comes to certain things. I will give you a hint...I loved how Julian made sure to take care of Serena's needs before his own...Now that reminds me of my Hubby. =)
I loved the trials that characters went through in this book too. Serena had no idea what she was in for when she met Julian the first time in his club. Julian had no idea a Angel would change his world after 200 years wreaking havoc.
My favorite part in this book though would have to be the sex scenes. Yummy, sexy, heated sex scenes between a Demon and Angel. What more could you ask for? Throw in how much they love each other...and you got yourself a Good vs. Evil that end up being a TRUE LOVE story that no one can stop from happening, not even the characters can stop from loving each other.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves Paranormal Romance and loves Angels and Demons as much as I do. I look forward to the next book in the series.
I really hope the Villains in this book get a book too. I would love for Corbin to change into something GOOD also. I know he has a soft heart somewhere in there.
**I will be buying this book eventually and adding to my collection at home." =)

Review - "Unearthly" by Cynthia Hand
Unearthly
(Unearthly #1)
by: Cynthia Hand
Publishing Date: 1/4/11
Publisher: HarperTeen
Genre: YA
Source: Library Book
Buy: Amazon or Barnes and Noble
Description:
Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy. Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side. As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
My Review:
(Originally Reviewed on Mrs. Papillion aka "The Book Worm")
Five Stars, Two Thumbs up, and All 10 Toes up too...that is how much I loved this book. I haven't read a good Young Adult book in awhile and this one blew it away. Thank you, Cynthia Hand for your version of Angels. I loved this book! I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series and finding out what Clara's real mission was. From beginning to end of book, I was in AWE. I just couldn't put this book down until I knew what happened next.
Clara is given her vision, which is her purpose, so her and her family are forced to a new state, new town and new school. Her main goal is to find out what that purpose is. What draws her there is a boy that has is back to her in the vision. She doesn't figure who it is until she goes to school. What she doesn't know is that vision changes after awhile. Everything she does, leads up to what is next in the vision. She never though she would fall in love with another boy though, named Tucker, who is her best friend's twin brother.
I fell in love with Clara and Tucker in this book. I wasn't liking the fact the book was taking a turn to think that Clara was meant to be with the boy in the vision who happens to be Christian. Why? Why would the vision say she needed to be with him? That is one thing left hanging at the end of the book. Tucker is the Boy for her...he was there for her during the summertime when everyone left her. You know the saying, the boy who picks on you at school, actually has a crush on you...well...it lives up to it in this book.
I hope Cynthia Hand chooses Tucker for Clara in the next book. I also want to know what exactly was Clara's purpose and why she was supposed to save Christian...which you have read this book, you find out it's not the deal. The book leaves you confused just as much as Clara is.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves Young Adult and also loves reading about Angels. Cynthia Hand takes you into a different world about Angels and also introduces a different style of Fallen Angels.

Review - "Crescendo" by Becca Fitzpatrick
Crescendo
(Hush, Hush #2)
Publishing Date: 10/19/10
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
Genre: YA
Source: Kindle Edition (Bought)
Buy: Amazon or Barnes and Noble
Description:
Nora Grey's life is still far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn't pleasant, but at least she got a guardian angel out of it: a mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous guardian angel. But, despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting anything but angelic. He's more elusive than ever and even worse, he's started spending time with Nora's arch-enemy, Marcie Millar.
Nora would have hardly noticed Scott Parnell, an old family friend who has moved back to town, if Patch hadnt been acting so distant. Even with Scott's totally infuriating attitude Nora finds herself drawn to him - despite her lingering feeling that he's hiding something.
Haunted by images of her murdered father, and questioning whether her nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death, Nora puts herself increasingly in dangerous situations as she desperately searches for answers. But maybe some things are better left buried, because the truth could destroy everything - and everyone - she trusts.

This Book had me so UPSET, but in a good way because I couldn't put it down. I ended up crying several times because of what Nora was put through in this book. Let's just say I despised Patch in this book and wanted nothing more, but to go into my Kindle and smack him to find out why he was putting Nora through Hell. It wasn't fair to her and to make her go through him being with Marcie...another person I wanted to smack around. I am very proud of Nora and her sticking up for herself though. She proved to be a Strong willed girl in this book. I wasn't expecting the part about her Father though. Wow...Becca..you really had me on the edge of my seat on that one. I also wasn't expecting the ending. I was upset that you left me hanging...but that's okay...I got over it. Now I can't wait for the next book. Thank you, thank you for this amazing book. I read it faster than I wanted, but that's okay...gives me more time to ponder on what you may put Nora and Patch through next. I can't wait!!! =)

My Review:
I saw "Angel of Darkness" on my Recommended Reads from Amazon.com, one day, and thought I would try it out. It took me awhile to receive the book since I borrowed it from my Library, but once I did get it, I had a hard time putting it down. Cynthia Eden, you are a New Author to me...and I love "The Fallen" Series so far. I'm used to sappy Angel stories, where the Angel is a girly boy (Yes...I said that). I needed a Manly Angel who was Dark and Sexy...and you gave me just that and more.
Cynthia Eden throws you into a different world of Fallen Angels. This book is about Keenan and he's the Angel of Death. It's his job to take souls to Heaven after their Death (sometimes horrific). Unfortunately, Keenan doesn't do that to Nicole's soul. Instead, he interferes with her death, but instead of a happily ever after for Nicole, she turns into a Paranormal being herself. She never expected Vampires to exist, let alone Angels. What's the craziness thing about Keenan and taking the souls...is one touch...and your dead...but you have to be close to death (mostly).
When Keenan interferes of course he's stripped (burned) of his wings. He crashes to Earth and his main focus to find Nicole again.
That doesn't turn out well for him when he sees Nicole again. That poor girl is put through hell. She's hunted down several times, thrown into the chaos of the Paranormal World. What is Keenan to do to prevent her death again?
I loved everything about this book, the drama, the action, the romance and of course the characters. I can't wait to see where Cynthia Eden takes us next in the Series. Although, she does do a sneak peek of who is up next in her Series. I did think some characters were annoying and I wanted to BITCH Slap a couple of them...but who doesn't have a Villian or Villians that do that to you.
I wasn't really expecting the ending and who was the ACTUAL Big Villain. What that Villain had to go through at the end to defeat him...(He got what was coming to him).
This is recommended read to anyone who loves reading about "Fallen Angels" and loves twists to the Heaven/Hell stories.
This is definitely categorized one of the Best "Fallen Angel" Book I've read in awhile...next to "Touch of Crimson" by Sylvia Day of course. =)

Review - "Fallen In Love" by Lauren Kate
Fallen In Love
(Fallen #3.5)
By: Lauren Kate
Publishing Date: 1/24/12
Publisher: Random House Children's Books
Source: Netgalley
Genre: YA
Genre: YA
Buy: Amazon or Barnes and Noble
Description:
What makes your heart race a little faster? Just in time for Valentine's Day, it's FALLEN IN LOVE, four wholly original new stories collected in a new novel set in the Middle Ages by Lauren Kate. FALLEN IN LOVE gives fans the much-talked about but never-revealed stories of FALLEN characters as they intertwine with the epic love story of Luce and Daniel. The stories include: Love Where You Least Expect It: The Valentine of Shelby and Miles , Love Lessons: The Valentine of Roland; Burning Love: The Valentine of Arriane; and Endless Love: The Valentine of Daniel and Lucinda.
My Review:
I was excited to read this book. I got my hands on it from Netgalley, but didn't get to read it until the day it released. Boo...I need to start reading a book from there as soon as I get it so I can review it before the book is actually released. Oh well that's what happens when you overload yourself with too many books.
This book was ALL about the first and only time Luce and Daniel spent Valentine's Day together. Sad, isn't it? Those two never get a friggin' break.
Lauren Kate took us out of Luce's head and into several other characters, finally. Yeah!!!!
We got a taste of Shelby and Miles. I adore those two. =) Finally, maybe those two will have a happily ever after and stop playing around and kiss already.
Then came Roland's own love story. Although, it ended up being a sad ending for him...but not for his love of course, since he made a serious decision. Made me love him even more. It's never easy to give up your one true love to make them happy.
What seriously threw me off, is when Lauren Kate, told Arriane's love story. Wow...wasn't expecting that, but it was really Sweet. Although, of course not another happy ending. Geez! Won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't read the book. I was actually a little upset on what happened to Arianne and her true love.
Of course, the finale of the book was Daniel and Luce spending Valentine's Day together. Sweet, beautiful and happily ever....well not really. Sorry...we all know what happens to Luce eventually in every lifetime she's ever lived except her more recent one. At least she got to spend one lovely day with the love of her life.
If you haven't read the series, you need to read it. Although, the first book is always going to be the best of the series. The 2nd and 3rd just didn't do it for me. I'm looking forward to reading "Rapture" though and you get a glimpse of the first chapter in this book. I always love sneak peeks.
I loved how Lauren flowed each short story into once. Shelby and Miles when they ran into Roland, brought on his story and then Arianne came into Roland's story. It was a great transition.
All and all...it was a short sweet read...but not exciting. It's a great Valentine's Day read, but don't think the short novellas are always happily ever afters. There's something to learn in each one.
I'm just happy to have read that Daniel and Luce finally got something happy out of the deal.
Now the countdown begins for "Rapture". Give me more Cam and I'll be a happy, giddy Book Mama. =)

My Review:
(Originally Reviewed on Mrs. Papillion aka "The Book Worm")
I finished reading back in June of 2010, "The Darkest Passion" by Gena Showalter, one of my fave authors who I've been reading since last 2009. A friend got me hooked into her books and believe me I'm HOOKED for good. I'm reading not only her Lords of the Underworld series, but I love her Alien Huntress Series too.
This book was one that had me BAWLING.
It was about Aeron, his Demon, Wrath and a Fallen Angel, Olivia. Olivia is now my 2nd favorite female in the series. Anya will always be my first favorite.
Aeron is the Keeper of Wrath and all he wants to do is help his friend Paris in the beginning of the book. Olivia has been watching Aeron for awhile now and Aeron knows someone has been watching him. Olivia was assigned to kill Aeron, but she's not able to, so instead she chooses a different destiny for herself. She wants to know Aeron up close and personal. She doesn't know yet, but she has strong feelings for him. Aeron does everything to ignore her. He just wants to live his life, help his friends, and destroy Galen and the Hunters. This book also steps into Gideon's life a bit and also Strider's. It's preparing us for the next books. Yes!!! Thank you, Gena for doing that. =) I also learned about Legion more in this book and how much I despise the little girl demon. Well, I thought she was a girl demon, but it seems the book takes a twist. I also didn't expect something in this book that shocked me, but I think I know where Gena is going with it. =)
I give this book 5 stars and two thumbs up. =) I love Gena's writing style. I love how she prepares for her next books in the series. I also love how she works up to the ending of each book. The characters are amazing. Again, my fave female character so far in the series will be Anya and my fave male is actually now Aeron and Lucien is second. =)
Thank you again, Gena Showalter, for keeping me on the edge of my sit with this book. I love the LOTW SERIES!!!
