Author Interview & Giveaway w/ Ninette Swann

Hello to everyone on this lovely Friday! Today with have with us Ninette Swann. She was so nice to answer some questions for me and she's offered up a copy of her book, Hit and Stay, which is a great read!

About Ninette

(Borrowed from author's website)

A mother of three-year-old twin girls, I find time to write during nap time and after bed time. During daylight hours, we're all usually outside, and no writing is to be done.

I'm an editor and journalist as well. I used to produce television news, and I thought no job could be more fun than that. Until I found this one.

You can find out more than you ever wanted to know about my family life over at my parenting blog,Tales of an Unlikely Mother.

About the book

Hit and Stay

Jake Harrison has a bad habit of swooping in to the rescue. Once burned, twice shy, the detective prefers to do the saving... and the leaving. But when he finds socialite Andrea Wadsworth collapsed in the street, he wonders if this time he won't be able to get away so easily, especially since his past is coming to find him.

Andrea Wadsworth thought she had everything she ever wanted—an ambitious and gorgeous fiancĂ©, stability and looks to kill. One suspicious phone call leads to her life's undoing and she finds herself on the run from all she once adored, the only person able to help her is a complete stranger: The smoldering Jake Harrison.

Together they unravel an unlikely political plot, but in this game of love and loss, and with all the betrayal surrounding them, will they ever be able to trust again?

Interview

Hi Ninette, thank you for being here today!

1) Can you tell us 3 things about yourself that we can't find on the internet.

Well, you can find just about everything about me on the internet if you look hard enough! Let's see...I don't know my right from my left without thinking about it. I have an undergraduate degree in biology, of all things. I own more heels than I'll ever be able to wear.

2) Who or what inspired you to become a writer?

My friend, Jennifer Armintrout (an amazing writer), helped me to get a job editing romance novels for a publisher. After doing that for about a year, I decided to try my hand at it.

3) What does a typical writing day look like for you?

Write six words, break up a kid fight, turn on cartoons for kids, write two more sentences, take away the toy that the kids are screaming about, write three more words, get the kids a snack, write another sentence, get someone a tissue or bandage, write another two words, give up.

4) Can you please tell us a little bit about the book Hit and Stay and how you got the idea to write it?

It's a romantic suspense, where a socialite gets run down in the street, in what looks like a hit and run. An off-duty cop finds her first, and it comes out that the accident may not have been accidental at all, that maybe they've both been set up. They run for their lives while trying to figure out the mystery of that day and fall in love in the process.

I had the first two scenes in my head, and I had to figure out how to write a book that would fit them together. It came out quite well, I think.

Some fun questions...

5) Who is your favorite author and what is your favorite book?

My favorite author is Milan Kundera. He writes a prose that is idea-filled and layered while propelling his stories forward with content.

My favorite book is Jane Eyre. It's simply perfect.

6) What is or was your most anticipated new book release for 2012?

I loved both The Layton Prophesy by Tatiana March and Nidus by Sebastian Grey this year. These two are totally underrated, and I don't think enough people are paying attention to these authors.

7) What is or was your most anticipated movie for 2012?

I'm not as up on movies as I'd like to be, but I am excited to attempt to see The Dark Knight Rises at some point.

8) Where is your dream vacation spot?

I'd love to go back to Portugal. It's the perfect mix of modern and quaint with a huge street scene. The food, the fado, the soccer...Lisbon, Alfama, Cais Cais, Sintra. There's so much more to see there. Maybe when my girls grow up a bit.

Thank you so much for being here today Ninette!
