Review - "50 Ways to Hex Your Lover" by Linda Wisdom
50 Ways to Hex Your Lover
(Jazz Tremaine #1)
by: Linda Wisdom
Publishing Date: 1/1/08
Publisher: Source Books
Source: Library Book
Genre: Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy
Genre: Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy
Buy: Amazon or Barnes and Noble
Description:
Jazz can't decide whether to scorch him with a fireball or jump into bed with him.
Jasmine Tremaine, a witch who can't stay out of trouble.
Nikolai Gregorivich, a drop-dead gorgeous vampire cop on the trail of a serial killer.
The sizzling love affair between Jazz and Nick has been off-again, on-again-for about 300 years. Mostly off, lately. But now Nick needs Jazz's help, and while Jazz and Nick try to figure out their own hearts and resist their ever-increasing attraction, they must steer clear of a maniacal killer with super-supernatural powers. They are surrounded by a hilarious cast of oddball paranormal characters, including Irma, the chain-smoking ghost who haunts Jazz's sports car, Dweezil, her ghoul of a boss, and Fluff and Puff, a pair of bunny slippers with sharp teeth and short tempers (watch your ankles)!
My Review:
If you like humor to your Paranormal Stories...you will definitely enjoy this book, "50 Ways to Hex Your Lover". Linda Wisdom and her writing style has won me over. After reading the first two books to her "Demon Series", which is a spin off to the Jazz Tremaine Series...she definitely has a fan for life. I wish I would've known about the Jazz Tremaine Series first though. You learn some things about the Witches in this series to prepare for the Demon Series. Oh well...I'm enjoying the Jazz Tremaine Series so far and looking forward to reading the next book.
First off, any book that involves a Witch that throws a fireball, a pair of bunny slippers that actually can eat you, and a sports car that has a ghost in it to keep you company...is a MUST-Read for me.
I fell in love with the characters in this book...especially, the bunny slippers. Can I get a pair for real? No one would go through my shoes ever again to borrow. Hehe!
Jazz is a cool-ass witch who I would love to be. She even has a sexy ex boyfriend who is a Vampire, who seems to come back into her life every once in awhile and stir up old feelings again. Why did they break up in the first place?
In this book, Nick, her sexy, gorgeous ex-boyfriend needs Jazz's help. Some reason, Vampires are disappearing. Why would Jazz want to help him though because her past is coming back to haunt her and she wants to kill the "Evil" Man, or thing, whatever he is, for good...because she thought she had already killed him.
This book is full of twists and turns that will take you for a ride. You will be laughing and also grinning. You'll even get mad. I really enjoyed reading every single chapter in this book.
Any book that can me suck into the world that the Author created, is a keeper to me.
Highly Recommended to readers who need a good laugh and need a break from dramatic books. Definitely for Paranormal Lovers and Vampire Addicts. It's about time a Good Witch Series is out there. =)

Lothaire
(IAD #12)
by: Kresley Cole
Publishing Date: 1/10/12
Publisher: Gallery
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Source: Kindle Edition (Bought)
Buy: Amazon or Barnes and Noble
Description:
ALL FEAR THE ENEMY OF OLD
Driven by his insatiable need for revenge, Lothaire, the Lore’s most ruthless vampire, plots to seize the Horde’s crown. But bloodlust and torture have left him on the brink of madness—until he finds Elizabeth Peirce, the key to his victory. He captures the unique young mortal, intending to offer up her very soul in exchange for power, yet Elizabeth soothes his tormented mind and awakens within him emotions Lothaire believed he could no longer experience.
A DEADLY FORCE DWELLS WITHIN HER
Growing up in desperate poverty, Ellie Peirce yearned for a better life, never imagining she’d be convicted of murder—or that an evil immortal would abduct her from death row. But Lothaire is no savior, as he himself plans to sacrifice Ellie in one month’s time. And yet the vampire seems to ache for her touch, showering her with wealth and sexual pleasure. In a bid to save her soul, Ellie surrenders her body to the wicked vampire, while vowing to protect her heart.
CENTURIES OF COLD INDIFFERENCE SHATTERED
Elizabeth tempts Lothaire beyond reason, as only his fated mate could. As the month draws to a close, he must choose between a millennia-old blood vendetta and his irresistible prisoner. Will Lothaire succumb to the miseries of his past . . . or risk everything for a future with her?

My Review:
I seriously thought that Kresley Cole couldn't pull off the "Lothaire" book. I thought she was going to make Lothaire a pansy...or change his personality....but I definitely was wrong. She not only kept Lothaire, his evil self...but she brought us into his world and what made him tick. I'm so glad she didn't change him. I would've been so upset with her. This book makes me LOVE Kresley even more as a writer. She never disappoints. She is one writer out there, that will make you wanting more. She also makes you think your actually in the book. I don't know how many times, I found myself dreaming about "Lothaire". I don't know what it is about a Male who is such a ASS-hole and so evil...that makes him so attractive to me.
The female character, Elizabeth, didn't disappoint either. She was Lothaire's complete opposite, and it worked out perfectly. She's a down to earth country girl who just wants her life normal again. Instead, she has a evil sorceress in her. I don't know how many times poor Elizabeth had to deal with Lothaire and his mean ways...but she knew how to piss him off too.
I loved the story to Lothaire and finding out what made him the way he is and also getting a sneak peek into Kresley Cole's new Series coming this Summer.
One of my favorite quotes to the book is actually from Crazy-Nix (if you don't know who Nix is...you need to read this series...she's one character that Kresley needs to write a book for).
“You gave her your heart, and she gave you the bird.” Nïx sighed. “Songs will be written about this.” from "Lothaire" by Kresley Cole

This book has definitely become one of my favorites and I look forward to the new Series coming out. I also look forward to the next book in the IAD Series.
Recommend to this book to anyone who has read the series before and to anyone who loves a EVIL Vampire who you will love to hate.
Review - "Bitten and Smitten" by Michelle Rowen
Bitten and Smitten
(Immortality Bites #1)
by: Michelle Rowen
Publishing Date: 1/1/06
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing
Source: Library Book (Challenge Read)
Buy: Amazon or Barnes and Noble
Description:
Sarah Dearly has had a bad date. What else would you call being buried alive before dessert? Not to mention that bite mark on her neck, and the creepy way her date keeps saying that he's sired her. Then those guys with the stakes show up and turn her date into so much dust! Sarah runs for her life, only to be rescued by a tall, dark, and handsome stranger. Sure, she interrupts him as he's about to throw himself off a bridge - but as far as rescuers go, Thierry de Bennicoeur will have to do. Only problem is their age difference. He's a six-hundred-year-old vamp with a death wish. She's a new kid on the block with a need for someone with experience to show her the ropes. And to keep her one step ahead from the vampire hunters that are in town to rid Toronto of the `monsters'. Sarah doesn't know what to make of all this. Sure, she's got a healthy hankering for blood lately, but she doesn't feel like a monster. Just an unemployed girl looking for love. Even if the object of her affection—Thierry—can't go out in the sun for very long.
My Review:
"Bitten & Smitten" is my first "challenge read" from another reader, at Down and Dirty Lusty and Flirty Group on Goodreads. The objective is to have someone else pick a book for you to read from their books they've read, but to make sure it's not already in your To-Be-Read list and to make sure you haven't read it before also.
Thanks again to the wonderful, Gems, for choosing this book for me to read. I would've never known about this book until you chose it for me...and I'm so glad you did.
From the first chapter to the last chapter, I was enthralled with it. I love a Paranormal book that has some action, love, and even humor to it. After reading the description from the back of the book...I knew I would have a hard time putting it down. Although, having two kids...one being a 2.5 month old...and having to do college homework online...I had to put down the book once in awhile. *sigh*
The character Sarah Dearly is absolutely fabulous. She's sassy and sarcastic. She's always getting herself into horrible situations, but she always manages to get out of it. Poor girl, just never gets a break in the book.
This is the first book I've read, that the lead Male character is a pain in the ASS. The minute you read about him, you either feel sorry for him or want to kick his butt. I feel sorry for him at first due to fact he has to deal with Sarah and her sarcastic ways. Poor guy! LOL
Michelle Rowen, doesn't make the vampires sparkle or have crazy abilities like other vampire books I've read. She makes them seem normal, except for drinking blood of course. (she does have the blood come in a Keg..kind of strange...but I love it). No wonder why the Vampire Hunters have their hands full on killing the Vampires. They really can't tell whose human and whose Vampire...except maybe when a Vamp shows "Fang."
I recommend this book to anyone who loves a little humor to their Vampire Romance. If you've read Linda Wisdom's books, you'll definitely enjoy Michelle Rowen. =) I'm definitely picking up the 2nd book from my Library soon. I must find out what happens next to Sarah and her crazy misfit friends.
