Guest Post + Giveaway with Sara Humphreys

Welcome to our Virtual tour stop of Sara Humphrey's Undone brought to you by Sourcebooks.
Top 10 Things I Adore About Pete and Marianna—by Sara Humphreys

1. They’re a mixed couple. Marianna is a pureblood female shapeshifter from the Bear Clan and Pete is a human. They couldn’t be more different but it’s their differences that make them so much fun.

2. Pete doesn’t take any of her guff. Marianna is a high-spirited Amoveo woman from the Bear Clan and is used to doing her own thing but that all changes when Pete comes along. Even though he’s only human, he disarms her like no one else can.

3. Marianna may be physically stronger than Pete but she doesn’t emasculate him and make him feel like less of a man

4. Their passion for each other knows no limits. Let’s just say that these two find creative ways and places to get busy. I think Marianna’s unpredictable side helps keep things interesting. Pete likes to say that it’s the bear in her.

5. Pete has a great sense of humor, which borders on being a total smart-ass. I love that he can make Marianna laugh even if she’s annoyed with him.

6. They both love animals and have a particular fondness for a dog named Tramp.

7. Pete gets Marianna outside her comfort zone. He gets her to go ice fishing and do other things that she would never have considered doing before she met him.

8. Family is highly important to both of them and they’re both intensely loyal individuals.

9. They are forgiving of each other and are fully aware that no one is perfect.

10. With one look between the two and a knowing grin, no words are needed and the games begin.

Does She Dare to Love One?

Like most retired cops, Pete Castro resents his new job as a bodyguard. It's even worse because he'll be babysitting a party girl like Marianna. But that's before he meets her for the first time and discovers his instincts on red alert. Would he kill to protect her?

Interview with Sara Humphreys + Giveaway (Counting down to Undone)

Hi Sara and welcome back to
Book Lovin' Mamas.

1. Tell our readers a little bit about yourself.

Sure! I’m mom to four boys ages 12 (twins), 14 and 17. I’ve been married to my college sweetheart for almost 19 years. We met in college at the bar across the street from campus, where I was of course studying ;) I quit my day job last year and have transitioned into writing full-time which has been a dream come true. Not only do I get to do what I love but I have much more flexibility which allows me to spend more time with my boys.

2. You have the next upcoming book in The Amoveo Legend Series coming out, "Undone". Would you tell our readers what it is about?

Absolutely. Undone features Marianna Coltari, a pureblood Amoveo from the Bear Clan who wants nothing to do with the civil war that’s broken out among her people. She just wants to hang out in NYC and have fun. Pete Castro is a human. He works for Marianna’s brother, Dante and unbeknownst to Marianna, Pete knows all about the Amoveo.

Dante, worried about the Purists trying to get to Marianna, hires Pete to keep an eye on his sister. Let’s just say that the sparks fly.

Also, this book introduces the vampires and reveals a new layer to the world. I have a spinoff series coming this summer called Dead in the City. Book One, Tall, Dark, and Vmapire will be out in August.

3. What was the hardest and easiest scene to write in "Undone" (without of course giving too much away)

There’s a rather violent scene towards the end of the book that was really draining to write. In fact, my editor asked me to tone it down because she felt it was too disturbing.

4. What kind of research did you have to do for the book?

I research locations, especially if I’ve never been there. I also research the different animals because the Amoveo possess certain animal qualities while in their human form. For example, since Marianna is in the Bear Clan, she’s not affected by cold as much as a normal human. Layla, a hybrid from the Cheetah Clan, has incredible speed.

5. How different is Marianna from her brother Dante? Was she hard to write compared to her brother? (And on that note...I LOVE me some, Dante) =)

Well, they’re fraternal twins but from different clans. Amoveo from different clans can mate and they don’t know which clan their child will favor until they go through puberty. Marianna’s father was a member of the Bear Clan, like her and Pete is a member of the Fox Clan, like his mother. Marianna is more impulsive than Dante, which is directly related to her Bear Clan heritage. She’s also got a temper on her, where as Dante is more patient.

6. What is Dante's reaction to Marianna and Pete? (Brothers tend to be very protective of their sisters no matter if they are older or younger than them)

He kind of flips out at first but Pete is one of his best friends, so it’s all good.

7. Tell us why readers will fall in love with Pete Castro?

I hope they do. I adore Pete. He’s a bit of a wiseass, he’s funny, and although he’s fiercely protective of Marianna, he doesn’t take himself too seriously. He’s also got gorgeous blue eyes and a killer smile.

8. How many books do you have planned for The Amoveo Legend Series?

I’m contracted for five novels and two novellas. The fifth novel, Unclaimed, will be out in December and there’s also one more novella in my contract. I have at least two more novels in mind but release dates etc, aren’t finalized yet. Believe me…there will be more Amoveo Legend novels.

9. What is up next for Sara Humphreys?

I have two spin off series coming up. Prices of Hell will be my first self-published series and will be released in episodes, basically novellas. My plan is to release one every month. The other spin off series, Dead in the City, starts this August with Tall, Dark, and Vampire. I can’t wait to hear what readers think of my vamps.

Also, I’m going to be branching out into a new genre—contemporary romance. The series is called Holding Out for a Hero and each book will feature a man in uniform.

10. Do you have anything specific you want to tell your readers?

Thank you. Thank you so much for your support. I know people have a lot of options out there when it comes to books, and I’m so very grateful that mine are among them.

Also—if you haven’t tried the Amoveo Legend series yet, you can download a “forever free” short story on Amazon or B&N. UNDENIED is super short but it will give you a taste of the world of the Amoveo.

My Review:
Sara Humphreys knows how to keep a reader turning the pages or actually in my case, swiping the screen on my Kindle Fire so I can find out what happens next.

Sara picks up from the last book and introduces you to Dante's fraternal twin, Marianna who is definitely different from her brother.  She's difficult and very stubborn, but Dante hires his friend, Pete to watch over her.  She definitely does not make it easy for Pete.  In fact, she was difficult for me to like at first, but after awhile, she grew on me.  She just wanted the truth and I could not blame her.  I would want the truth as well.
Pete Castro had to be the main reason why I loved "Undone" due to his charm, over-protectiveness and well...his way in the bedroom (or lack of bedroom).  He knew how to handle Marianna, even when her fraternal twin could not.  I was curious on what Pete was from the very beginning and when Sara finally revealed what he was, I was intrigued.  He's much different than any of the other male characters in the previous books.

The Purists played a part in this story even more and what they were up to.  If you have read the other books, you will learn more on what the Purists are up to in this book.  It's not for the faint of heart either. In fact I cannot stand the main guy, Artimus.  I wanted to go through the book and rip him apart.  He definitely has issues.  Don't even get me started on his son, Hayden, either.  I literally hate the Purists even more after reading this book and they definitely need to be dealt with.

Sara does another phenomenal job on the fourth installment to her Amoveo Legend Series.  I literally went through so many emotions with this one and let me tell you after you read this book, you will never look at a snowmobile the same way.  =)
Yes, this book definitely tops all the others when it comes to most nail biting, gut wrenching, and heart failing moments ever.  Sara even gives you the hottest scenes between two characters who will steal your heart away and have you either running to the shower to cool down or grabbing some cold water to drink.  (I still cannot get over that snow mobile scene)
Seriously, if you have not read this series yet, you need to.  I highly recommend it to paranormal romance readers out there and fans of shape shifters.  Sara takes you into a world of shifters who will capture your heart and all you want is for them to have a happily ever after without the Purists trying to ruin it for them.
I look forward to the next installment and now the new series coming out from Sara at the end of this summer.
This book will give you not only the shape shifters, but also demons, hellhounds, and vampires.  I bet that got your attention now.  =)

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchanged for an honest review.

Interview & Giveaway with Sara Humphreys

Please give a very BIG Welcome to, Sara Humphreys today.  We chose her as our Author Spotlight and Series Spotlight this month.  We are very ecstatic to have her here to talk about her latest release and her Amoveo Legend Series.

1. Tell us 5 things about yourself that readers may not be able to find on the web.

-I need at least an hour alone every day.
-I talk to myself in the car when I'm plotting out a book.
-My toes are so long they resemble fingers and my husband calls them "alien toes".
-I'm not a natural blonde.
-I always wanted the nerve to cut my hair super short but I'm too chicken.

2. What does a typical writing day look for you?

Get the boys to school and then hit the gym. After my much needed coffee, I go into my writing cave and usually hit the "business of writing" first before getting invested in a manuscript. I write until around 3pm when the boys get home but if I'm on deadline, I'll dive back in after dinner.

3. How did you come up with the Amoveo Legend Series?

It wasn't one ah-ha moment but more a result of asking myself what I'd want to see in the ultimate supernatural race and the Amoveo are the result.

4. Tell us a little bit about your newest release "Untamed"?

Untamed is about two characters that readers met in Untouched. Actually, William Fleury was in both Unleashed and Untouched and I'm hoping that readers are eager to read his story. He's known for his cold, calculating demeanor and doesn't believe in love. He knows he's got a pre-destined mate and accepts it for what it is but he has zero intention of falling in love. His mate, Layla Nickelsen, is a human/Amoveo hybrid and unlike the heroines in the previous books, she is aware of her Amoveo heritage. She's a member of the Cheetah Clan but wants nothing to do with the Amoveo and has feared being discovered by them all of her life. She's a photographer and gets psychic images from the pictures she takes and when William shows up in his three piece suit, she makes it clear that she wants nothing to do with him. They are vastly different individuals but one thing is certain--they can't fight their attraction for each other. Watching them try and figure each other out is a lot of fun, especially when Layla gets William to loosen up.

5. What was the hardest scene to write in "Untamed"?

The very last scene, when Layla finally gives all of herself to William. I can't say too much because I don't want to post any spoilers.

6. If you could be one of your characters who would it be and why?

I'd love to be Kerry for a day. She can see inside people's minds with one touch and shapeshift into a panther. Having Dante as a lover wouldn't be half bad either.

7. How do you handle writer's block?

I walk away for a little while and listen to music. I find that music can be very helpful when I have a lazy muse but not when I'm actually writing.

8. If you could have one super power what would it be and why?

Telepathy. I think it would be wickedly erotic to be able to speak to your lover in the middle of a crowded room without anyone hearing a word.

9. When you are not writing, what are your hobbies and interests?

I am a movie junkie. I love sci-fi and romantic comedies. If I could sit on the couch and watch the entire Aliens or Terminator franchise in one day that would be awesome.

10. What is up next for Sara Humphreys?

I am writing the fifth Amoveo Legend novel, Unclaimed and the second Dead in the City book which is part of my upcoming vampire series. I will also have a contemporary romance series coming out with Sourcebooks called Holding Out for a Hero which features various men in uniform.

ARC Review: "Untamed" by Sara Humphreys

Untamed
(The Amoveo Legend Series #3)
Publishing Date: 11/6/12
Publisher: Sourcebooks
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Source: Netgalley

Description:
The Amoveo are an ancient race who've lived secretly among humans for thousands of years. They are beautiful and incredibly strong but their race is extremely fragile--each has until the age of 30 to find their soul mate, before their bodies start to die a slow, painful death. Layla Nickelsen has spent her life running from a mate she didn't choose, until William Fleury finally confronts her. Normally stoic and unemotional, William finds himself befuddled by Layla: his growing feelings for her and his driving need to protect her. And Layla has to admit that William might be everything she's always wanted after all...

My Review:
I love this series that Sara has created...of all different shifters coming together and mating together.
"Untamed" definitely had a lot going on with it, especially towards the end.  Oh boy...that was a doozy ending.  =)  LOVED IT!
Layla Nickelsen has always known she's different.  Her brother and sister are hybrids and have already shifted to their animal.  Layla though has not shifted, except in her dreams.
She is back home with her brother Rafie and the person who took her in as her own, Rosie.
She's trying to get away from the one person who she believes will try to control her and she happened to come upon him in New Orleans when she was doing a photo shoot down there.
William has finally found his mate and he will do anything to win her over, but he knows it's not going to be easy.  He'll even walk away from Layla if that is what she wants, but he at least has to try.
William is taken in by Layla's family, although Rafie, Layla's brother, is weary about William.
Layla has never wanted fate to decide who her mate was going to be.  She never understood that part of the Amoveo Legend and it will take William everything to win her heart.
In the mean time though, the Purists, the group of Amoveo's that believe it is wrong to have hybrids (half shifter/half human).  They want them all killed and they are out to get Layla and the other hybrids.
William will do everything in his power to protect Layla and her family.
When Rosie, Layla's guardian, gets hurt, William suspects the Purists are behind it, so he enlists the help of his friend's Malcolm and Dante and also their mates.
They are starting to suspect that their is a Purist among the council that rules over the Amoveos and they must find out who it is, so William can keep Layla safe and also Dante and Malcolm's mates safe.
Sara Humphreys definitely did not disappoint.  Now I want more after this book because it has a lot of unanswered questions.  Ahhh!!
I loved William when he was first introduced in the series and I was so happy to see his usual mean self become the lovable character that I knew he was.  He just needed a female to knock him down some levels.
Layla was difficult at first for me like, but I understood more better on how she was when the truth finally came out about her Mom and Dad.
I'm even more interested to know how hybrids can do certain things that Amoveos cannot do.  Very interesting.  =)
This book brought on Civil War between the Purists and the shifters who support being with hybrids.
I will not spoil the best parts though.  You will just have to read it to find out.
I recommend this book to paranormal romancer readers, shifter lovers, and fans of Sara Humphreys.  Also...to people who have wanted to read Sara's books for awhile.  What are you waiting for?

"Untamed" is one book that had my heart racing and pounding due to all the excitement and of course I do not want to  forget the steamy moments between two characters who were made for each other.  =)  I need a cold shower now.
Looking forward to the fourth book next year.  I need me some more Amoveo Legend Series.

I received a complimentary copy of "Untamed" from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

My Review:
Sara Humphreys is one Author who I adore very much.  She knows how to write a great shifter story that sinks me in from the beginning.  When I found out she was writing a short novella for her Amoveo Legend Series, I think I squealed like my daughter does when it's Christmas morning.
A short novella that captures my heart until "Untamed" releases...sign me up to buy.
Actually...for everyone who is a fan of Sara Humphreys, or are readers out there that are thinking about reading Sara's books, Undenied when it releases October 2nd, will be FREE.  =)

This short novella, which is only 43 pages long as per my iPad....can be read within a hour or less (of course without interruptions, which I made sure nothing interrupted me...That included two girls and one hubby, who were sleeping when I read Undenied.)

"Undenied" is about Boris Zankoff and how his mate comes into his life unexpectedly.  He has been dreaming about her for awhile now and he knows she's fully human. Of course with the dilemma going on with certain shapeshifters wanting only pure bred shapeshifters matching only with full blooded shapeshifters, Boris has a problem on his hands.  He must protect his mate no matter what.
Boris never though, his mate, Lillian would show up on at his business's doorstep one day, asking for his help...it was a dream come true for him and of course for Lilian as well, since she has been a gypsy for the longest time and has never really had a family to love her.

I'm happy that Boris finally gets his happily ever after in this short novella because of what happened in the last book, Untouched.
I definitely clicked with Lilian.  The poor girl had gone through so much and she just wanted to find her place in the world and her family did not seem to agree on what she wanted to do with her life.
Boris and Lilian are a definitely perfect match and I hope we get a little taste of them more in future books.

This short novella will give you a small taste of the Amoveo Legend books and Sara definitely delivers another book that had me entranced from the beginning.
I'm looking forward to her next book, Untamed that comes out next month.  =)
If you want a quick, sexy read definitely get a copy of Undenied.  =)

My Review:
This book touched my heart when I read it.
This book is about Kerry and Dante this time.  I got a taste of both of these characters from the first book “Unleashed”.
Kerry is sexy model who isn’t the starving run-way model either.  She’s the model with the womanly curves who everyone wants modeling for them.  She has a condition though where she hates touching people because once she touches them, she feels pain and also sees images.  She was adopted and she always felt distant from her adopted family.  She always felt like something was wrong with her because they really did not want anything to do with her.
Dante is a sexy Amoveo who is apart of the Fox clan. He’s had it rough since what happened in the last book.  He knows there’s something different about Kerry and he knows also that she’s his mate after seeing her on the beach for the first time.  He has to find away to tell her about him and also find out what she is exactly.
Kerry is half human and half Amoveo just like her best friend, Samantha who is from the previous book.  In the first book, Kerry was put into the dilemma between the Clans and she didn’t even realize it.
In “Untouched”, Kerry is sent on a modeling job down in New Orleans and of course the sexy Dante goes with her as a bodyguard.  While they are there, they find out the job has switched to a old house.  For some reason, the old man there doesn’t want them inside of it.
Also, while on her modeling job Kerry is being threaten by “The Punisher” which is Dante’s mission to find out who it is.  He knows it has to do with something with Kerry being half Amveo., but he doesn’t know who to trust.  Malcolm and Samantha end up helping out with it, but of course they end up in the crossfire again in this book.
In between, the chaos of the modeling job and “the Punisher”, Dante and Kerry end up hooking up and the chemistry between them is perfect.  They fit well together and there is no way Kerry can resist Dante and vice versa.
In the end, when I found out who the killers were, I definitely wasn’t expecting it.  I also wasn’t expecting the twist that Sara threw into the book about Kerry.  Yes…Sara…you had me crying at the end.  I felt so sorry for Kerry.  At least Dante was there for her and she got some closure.
This book will have you crying, turning the pages for more, and loving the characters.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves Shifters and loves Paranormal Romance.
Sara definitely has a fan for life and I look forward to the next book in the series this November, which to me is too far away at the moment.  =)
