ARC Review - "Primal Passion" by Mari Carr & Lila Dubois
Primal Passion
(Trinity Master #2)
Author: Mari Carr & Lila Dubois
Publisher: Farm Boy Press
Release Date: 4/28/13
Genre: Erotic Romance
Source: Provided by Author
Description
There is passion and power in three…
Deni Parker thinks she’s got it all figured out. Working on
the cutting edge of science, she has little time for anything but work. Luckily
she doesn't have to bother with dating because she's a member of the Trinity
Masters—a secret society that has not only helped her career, but which will
identify the two people with whom she'll spend the rest of her life in an
arranged ménage marriage. When her invitation to the introduction ceremony is
delivered—years ahead of when she expected—by the very intimidating, and far
too handsome, Price Bennett, Deni’s more than a little unprepared.
Price didn't join the Trinity Masters to play messenger. As
CEO of a major security firm and heir to one of the largest fortunes in the
world, he’s annoyed when the Grand Master orders him to transport the
disorganized, virgin scientist to the ceremony to meet her partners. It's only
when they arrive that Price realizes he isn't a mere messenger—he’s been
matched with Deni.
FBI Agent Gunner Wells has been in love with Deni for years,
but he’s resisted pursuing her. When he arrives at his introduction ceremony,
he's delighted to discover Deni is not only a member of the secret society, but
one of his partners…along with billionaire playboy, Price Bennett.
Their strong personalities clash—in the bedroom and out of
it—but Price and Gunner have to put aside their overprotectiveness, and Deni
must put aside her pride, when someone tries to stop her research—with deadly
methods.
Review
Ooh la la, this book is HOTT!!! And when I say hot, I mean
so hot my husband asked me why I was blushing while I was reading! LOL This is
a great read, especially if you like those sweet but also very dominant males! These two guys
knocked my socks off! I think I’m in love!!!
Deni is a super smart science nerd who lives for her
research and that’s pretty much it, which is why she’s ever been in a
relationship and is still a virgin. But she feels she has time and doesn’t need
to date because one day she will be called by the Trinity Masters to meet her
two perfect partners the grand master has chosen for her. Then she gets her
letter early and is placed with two equally dominant and powerful men. Men she
has absolutely no idea how to handle!
Price and Gunner are the ultimate alpha males. Price being a
billionaire who is the CEO of his own security company and Gunner who is an FBI
agent have been paired with sweet shy virgin Deni. Gunner is elated since he
already knew her but Price isn’t so sure. Together they must come together to
build a strong lasting relationship and along the way they must each learn
their roles in that relationship.
Gunner and Price! OH. MY. GOD. I seriously LOVED them! Not only are they demanding (in a good way) and totally dominating but they are sweet and caring and totally taken with Denise. It's really sweet! And I really enjoyed Deni! She's no pushover so it was fun seeing her challenge her men. She really had them wrapped around her little finger!
This was a great read! I recommend this to ALL erotica lovers! You haven't read erotica until you've read these two ladies! This series is unique and so so sexy and seriously, the characters are fantastic! I'm SO looking forward to the next book in this series and I would LOVE to see more m/m action in the future. This one hints at it but not very much! I just think it would take it to a whole new level! :) I'm looking forward to reading more ladies, now hurry and get the next one done...PLEASE!!! ;)

Out today: "Fix You" by Mari Carr
Warning: This book runs the emotional gamut between scorching-hot passion and the pain and fear associated with cancer. Keep a box of tissues next to your glass of ice water.
Excerpt:
Rob stared down at Zoey’s face as she slept. Her eyes were still puffy from last night’s tears. Neither of them had moved from the couch. Instead, he’d lain down next to her and held her as she silently wept. Pinpricks attacked the arm he’d wrapped around her, his hand numb from lying in the same position for so long. He didn’t bother to move. It felt too good holding her like this. Some truths were crashing down on him. He’d been an ass, living his life like he had all the time in the world. Their time on this planet was far from infinite, and yet he’d squandered years of it, working on his career, focusing solely on making it big. For what? Fame? Money? Why the hell did he need that shit? He’d always taken it for granted that Zoey would be here for him. How the fuck was he supposed to go on without her? The moment she’d told him about the cancer, the light had gone on. I’m in love with her. Christ. I’ve been in love with her since the first day I laid eyes on her. Zoey stirred. Rob’s heart began to race as her eyes opened slowly. He wasn’t wasting a second more. He couldn’t. He just couldn’t. She was disoriented for a moment before she lifted her gaze and smiled. With his free hand, he stroked her face softly. “Zoey.” Her name fell from his lips on a hushed whisper, his chest constricting under the weight of every emotion under the sun—love, fear, happiness, panic, a raging case of nervousness. What if she didn’t feel the same way? “Yeah?” He took a deep breath. Fear wasn’t going to hold him back another second longer. “I’m going to break my promise.” “What promise?” He didn’t respond. Instead, he bent his head and kissed her. Time froze as their lips met. Rob was transported back to that day in the park, to the truth that should have been obvious all those years ago. He’d been a blind, inexperienced boy back then, but now…his eyes were wide open. It was her. Zoey. For him, it had always been her. The kiss was a gentle touch at first, but when Zoey’s lips softened and accepted his, he deepened it. Her small hand cupped his cheek, exploring his face hesitantly before growing bolder, stroking it. The smell of cinnamon enveloped them, her candle still burning from the night before. He knew in his heart that from now on, that scent would always make him think of her. Of this moment. His heart lodged in his throat when he realized the magnitude of what was happening, of what he wanted to happen next. He was kissing his best friend. And she was kissing him back. Encouraged, he opened his mouth, stroking his tongue against hers. The kiss grew harder, hungrier. For several minutes—hell, it could have been hours for all Rob knew—they simply kissed, learning each other’s taste, texture. Her skin was soft beneath his fingers as he caressed her delicate cheek. Her breathing grew heavier, the heat of it warm against his skin. When he finally moved away, she was there, looking at him, studying his face. Hers was the picture of confusion, wariness…and desire. He latched onto the last like a dying man clinging to life. She wanted him. “Still weird?” He needed the joke, needed to get his bearings. His emotions were too raw, too new, too close to the surface. She shook her head slowly. “No. Not even close.” “Good. I’ve been practicing.” She laughed uneasily. “You’re insane. What the hell prompted that?” He knew her. Knew she’d try to twist this into something innocent, funny. He wouldn’t let her. He ran his hand through her dark hair, overwhelmed by the need to touch her. “Just figured it was past time. You mind if we talk about this after?” “After what?” He let his body answer the question. Turning so they lay face to face on the couch, he placed his lips back on hers. He didn’t want to push her. After all, she’d just received life-altering, horrible news. He’d keep things easy, let her set the pace. She didn’t resist his kisses. Her hand traveled along his shoulders and down his arm before landing on his chest. Her lips pressed against his harder. Then she moved away, an infinitesimal distance. “Touch me,” she whispered, her hand fisting in the cotton of his shirt. He didn’t need to be told twice. His hands roamed along her sides, drifted beneath her T-shirt. She shivered when he caressed the bare skin of her waist. He stoked her arousal, kissing her harder as he explored every bit of bare flesh he could reach beneath her shirt. He forced air into his lungs, fought to keep his hands steady as he touched her. The slight tremor in his hands seemed to distract her. She was the first to pull back. “Robbie, are you sure—?” “After,” he repeated. He gripped her hip, dragging her closer. There was no way she could misconstrue how far he’d go if she was willing. His cock was hard, ready. She bit her lip and he could sense she was struggling to make a decision. He wouldn’t force her into anything she wasn’t ready for. Hell, he’d be perfectly content to spend the next dozen years or so simply kissing her. Making up for so many wasted years. “Zoey—” She shook her head and closed her eyes, but not before he read the hungry need there. Then she lifted one leg and wrapped it around his thigh. She thrust closer. It was an outright invitation. “After,” she whispered, her voice steadier than he expected.

Description
Zoey has loved Robbie for as long as she can remember and
they’ve been best friends for even longer. Now that she’s finally ready to tell
him she’s in love with him, she finds out she has breast cancer. This changes
everything. She can’t possibly ask Rob for anything when she doesn’t even know
where she will be in a year, much less ask him to give up his dream of becoming
a famous musician to take care of her…
Rob has taken for granted the fact that Zoey will always be
there. Until the moment she told him she has breast cancer he didn’t realize
that he’s been in love with her for a long time, he was just too into his music
and himself to admit to it. But now that they may be running out of time, he
knows what he wants and he’ll do anything to get it. Including prove to Zoey
that she means more to him than anything, including his music…
Review
I always love what Mari Carr writes but she has really out
done herself this time! This heartrendingly beautiful story grabbed a hold of
my heart strings and kept me an emotional wreck from beginning to end. I loved
everything about it, from the quirky women, who I hope will be leading ladies
for future books in the series, to Rob and the steamy sex that came with him,
to the terrifying facts of living with and beating something as scary as
cancer. This story not only gives you something sexy to read but it also opens
your eyes to the realities of life and shows you that life can be short, so don’t
take it for granted.
Rob is quite possibly the sweetest, most caring man I have
ever had the pleasure to read about and Zoey is most definitely the strongest
woman I have read about. They were such a beautiful couple and it really sucked
that they finally got together in such a sad way. I mean, they were best
friends for over 20 years but still, that’s a heck of a way to start a
relationship. But then they fought through it and came out happier and stronger
than ever so it all worked out. :)
This is more than a sexy love story, it’s a heartbreaking but inspirational
journey showing all women that it’s possible to overcome something as scary as
the big bad Cancer. And it hits close to home for me because my mom was
diagnosed with breast cancer last June. I really love that Mari wrote this book,
it gives me a bit of hope and I’m sure it will give other women out there that
same hope. So thank you Mari! I really can’t wait for the next in the series to
come out. I’m very curious as to who it will be about. I know who I hope but we
will see… But until then, check this book out and make sure you have plenty of
tissues handy because it’s a tear jerker!

Out Today - "Misplace Cowboy" by Mari Carr & Lexxie Couper
Misplaced Cowboy is OUT TODAY! Woot Woot! It's the companion story to Misplaced Princess. You've read about Annie's adventures in Australia. Now it's time to find out how Dylan, the stockman, fared in New York City.
Foreign Affairs, Book Two
Flying halfway ’round the world to meet his potential soul mate sounds like a fine idea to Dylan Sullivan—until he discovers said soul mate, Annie, has gone looking for him. In Australia. Now Dylan’s adrift, a bloke from the Outback alone in the bloody big city. Until he’s rescued by Monet, a gorgeous local artist…and Annie’s best friend.
A dyed-in-the-wool New Yorker, Monet has never met anyone like Dylan. Taking temporary care of the sizzling-hot cowboy is easy; he’s friendly, funny and interesting. Keeping her hands off him is decidedly not easy. That horny accent, that killer grin…and as a successful artist, Monet is very much a hands-on sort of girl.
Dylan and Monet hold back until they learn Annie is engaged in her own foreign affair in Oz. Then all bets—and clothes—are off. But it can only be a fling. An Aussie cowboy doesn’t belong in New York any more than a city girl belongs in the Outback.
Now if only their hearts would listen.
Excerpt:
Monet Carmichael knew she shouldn’t be laughing. Nor smiling. The poor cowboy in front of her truly looked like the definition of confusion. But oh boy, what a beautiful definition it was. Okay, not so much that he was confused, but just the way he looked in general. His strong lips and chiseled bone structure, the perfect growth of honey-brown stubble on his jaw and chin, the hat.
Every inch of him screamed MAN. Virile, potent man.
Having grown up a dyed-in-the-wool New Yorker, Monet was experiencing her first in-the-flesh cowboy—and what a cowboy.
Stockman, Monnie. He’s a stockman.
She caught her bottom lip with her teeth again, the junction of her thighs doing a funky little twisty thing she enjoyed very much.
Man was correct. A beautiful man. A goddamn gorgeous, sexy man. Complete with a goddamn gorgeous body his faded jeans and well-worn flannel shirt couldn’t hide at all.
If it wasn’t for the fact he’d flown from Australia to meet her best friend, Monet could quite happily stand there and undress him with her eyes. Render him naked and imagine all the things a woman could do to a male body like—
She caught the wildly inappropriate thought before it could form a wildly inappropriate image in her wildly visual mind.
Just.
“Let me get this straight,” the Australian cowboy said, his light green stare doing all sorts of wicked things to Monet’s resolve. Even his eyelashes were perfect. She could imagine drawing each one in charcoal. Imagine even better the way they would feel against her lips as she—
“Annie flew to meet me in Australia yesterday, despite the fact I flew to the U.S. to meet her?”
Monet nodded. “You sent her an IM with flight details. Well, some flight details. The day, the airline, the arrival time. Although you were wrong by an hour on that last one. Her flight didn’t touch down in Sydney until—”
“Wait, wait, wait.” The cowboy’s confused frown grew deeper, his Australian accent turning the word into a drawling song Monet found quite enjoyable to listen to. “I IM’ed her about a Qantas flight to New York. The one I was thinking of getting. And then the next day I emailed her the actual details of the flight I’d booked a seat on.”
Monet blinked. Annie hadn’t said anything about the email. In fact, Monet had been sitting right beside her best friend when she’d bought her airline ticket to Australia, a Qantas flight touching down in Sydney on the day her online Aussie cowboy…friend…had told her. Surely Annie would have known he was flying over here? How could they get their wires crossed so badly?
She opened her mouth—to say what to the man, she didn’t know. Damn, what was his name? Annie had said it enough times over the last few months, but Monet shut her mouth again when the doorman of their building suddenly appeared at the cowboy’s side.
“Everything okay, Ms. Carmichael?” Tommy’s gaze flicked back and forth between the Australian and Monet. “Mr. Sullivan’s not giving you—”
Dylan Sullivan!
The cowboy’s name popped into Monet’s head, along with an image of a clean-shaven man without a hat smiling somewhat nervously into a camera.
Monet shook her head, unable to take her gaze from Dylan’s still troubled face. “Everything’s fine, Tommy,” she assured him, even as she compared the beautiful hat-wearing male before her, his stubble as sexy as his accent, his accent as mesmerizing as his eyes, to the clean-cut man in the photo on Annie’s laptop.
“Are you sure?”
She flicked Dylan a quick look, her pulse beating far too fast for her peace of mind. “I’m sure.”
“’Cause he was asking about Ms. Prince—”
“It’s okay.” She cut him off with a smile. “I know Dylan. We were just going to catch a cab to the gallery.”
Dylan blinked.
“Oh.” Tommy nodded. “In that case…” He stepped one foot off the curb and let out a sharp whistle.
Before anyone could say a thing, a taxi pulled to a quick halt on the road beside them.
Monet gave the doorman another smile. “Thanks, Tommy.” She opened the back passenger door of the cab and extended an arm toward the grimy interior. “After you, Mr. Sullivan.”
The brim of his hat cast his eyes in shadow, and for a brief moment Monet thought he was going to refuse. And then he gave her a loose, lopsided grin that made her want to grin back. “I take it the lovers sit between us?”
She nodded. “The lovers do.”
“It’s probably better you climb in first then, love.”
Her pulse fluttered, and for the first time ever, Monet found herself totally flustered by a man. Love. Who would have thought she’d get excited over an almost antiquated term. She despised pet names—no babes or hons or sweethearts allowed, thank you very much. But the term “love” coming from Dylan’s lips…
Her reaction to it was unnerving. The whole situation was unnerving. Annie on the other side of the world. Dylan here in New York. Her unexpected response to the man.
She dove into the cab before Dylan Sullivan, her best friend’s would-be Aussie cowboy, could see the flush painting her cheeks pink.
Oh boy, this was…inconvenient.

Anna's Favorite Book of the Summer
Misplaced Princess
by: Mari Carr
Description
Annie Prince has impetuously flown halfway ’round the world to visit a sexy cowboy she met online—only to find herself stranded in Sydney. Seems she and Dylan crossed wires, and he’s on his way to New York. His twin, Hunter, saves the day and whisks her back to the family cattle station. Hunter’s as easy on the eyes as Dylan, and even easier to talk to. Annie might have flown to Oz to meet one brother, but soon sparks are flying with the other.
Hunter considered Dylan a dumb arse for jetting off to America for some stranger—until he met Annie. Turns out the New Yorker is a smart, funny, hard-working jillaroo…and hotter than the Aussie desert. Hunter’s not normally one to poach his brother’s women, but he can’t keep his hands, lips, tongue and other body parts off this sexy city girl.
When raging lust leads to emotional attachment, where does that leave Annie and Hunter when her vacation comes to an end—or when Dylan finds out?

is up now so it’s time for Rodney to stop ignoring his feelings and for Jacob to
stop hiding his.
Review
I’ve read this series as they've each been released so I was really
excited to see Rodney and Jacob get their own story. I’ve read a lot of erotica, it’s probably my
favorite genre to read, and I’ve read plenty of m/f/m with m/m in it but never
just m/m. I’m happy to say I was pleasantly surprised! This was a very heart-warming
story about two men who belonged
together and I found myself enjoying it like any other book I’ve read.
Jacob and Rodney were a great match with Rodney being the more
serious tough guy and Jacob being the fun, happy go lucky guy. They complemented
each other very well and it was so great to finally see them give in to the
attraction.
This was a pretty short read but if you’ve read the previous
two books then you know that the build-up came in the last book so it worked
for them to just jump right into it. If you haven’t read the other books then
what are you waiting for? Go, buy, read and fall in love just like I did.
I should also add that it was SO great to get an update on Caleb and Jessie! Very exciting!!! Their's was my favorite of the three books! *Sigh*

This was one hot read! I’ve said it before but I’m gonna say it again…Mari Carr can write a damn steamy story. I was once again up way too late reading this one. I just could not put it down until I read every word of it. As I said with the first book in this series this story has everything you could want in a good erotic romance plus a fantastic story with believable characters. I could totally picture myself as one of the women who own Books and Brew, which I have to say is an awesome idea. What better than to have a glass of wine and pick out a new romance novel all at the same place.
The characters in this one are probably some of my favorites. I just loved Jordan, she kinda made me think of myself a little. Quite, a little shy but once you get to know her she opens right up. And Casey…*sigh*…I want a Casey! What a sweet heart to do that for his friend even when he thinks he is going to lose the one girl he wants for himself. Gabriel wasn’t so bad either, talk about intense. I so love intense men, everything with them is done with so much emotion, which is definitely the case with Gabriel. I loved the chemistry between the three of them, talk about HOTT!!!! And come on...what woman wouldn't want two sexy men giving her the best pleasure of her life?
I can not wait for the next addition to this series. It’s sure to be a good one judging from these first two. I give this book 4.5 Moons and highly recommend it to any lover of erotica! J

Description
Stephanie is perfectly happy co-owning Books and Brew, a book store/bar, with her friends. She does need anything else in her life right now, there isn’t time. So she’s ok with the meaningless sexual relationships she’s had, she doesn’t need a man. Getting a ticket for double parking didn’t make her already bad day any better but the cop giving the ticket, well he just might make it all better.
Having been dumped very recently, Jarod isn’t looking for a girlfriend but when he meets the feisty woman who double parked to go into a liquor, he thinks he might just change his mind about that. She’s everything he ever wanted but he has one problem. She will not even consider a relationship with him, she’s convinced it’s only lust that they feel. But Jarod isn’t taking no for an answer. Instead he’s withholding the one thing she does want from him. Sex!

I fell in love with erotica because of Mari Carr. My very first erotica book was Tequila Truth and I loved it! This book just proves that writing gets better and better the more you do it. I LOVED this book!!! It has moved right to the top of my favorites list. She has all of the elements you would expect in an erotica novella but it also has a great story with very believable characters and probably the best sex scenes I’ve ever read! That’s usually hard to do in such a short story, but once again Mari pulled it off!
I so love the idea of the book store/bar! It’s such a brilliant idea and if there really is something like that out there, I wanna know where. It would probably get me out of the house too! The characters are great, I love all of the women who own Books and Brew. They’re a very nice combination and I can’t wait to hear the other ladies stories too. But so far, even though this is the first book, Stephanie is my favorite. She’s hilarious and so out spoken! Makes for great entertainment! Jarod was a great character too, he balanced out Stephanie very well. And the sex scenes….smokin’ hot! I stayed up way too late reading this because of that reason alone! LOL
