ARC Review: "Her Christmas Prince" by Caroline A. Godin
Her Christmas Prince
Author: Caroline A.
Godin
Release Date: 12/11/12
Genre: Light Romance
Source: Provided by Author
Purchase Links: Amazon
Description
Two weeks before Christmas, Callie's jerk of a boyfriend dumps her. Now it's looking like she'll not only be deflecting her mothers marriage talk but she will also be spending it single. Until a handsome stranger comes into town and sweeps her off her feet.
Review
This was a sweet Christmas time story of two people from opposite life styles and opposite sides of the world yet they still manage to find genuine love in times when that is so so hard to find!
This book was sent to me by the author for review so when I got it I had no idea what to expect. What I got was something new and refreshing from what my normal tastes in reading are. The romance is light, meaning no sexy stuff, but that didn't make too much difference for me. I enjoyed the characters and the story, it's very rare to find a book where a huge part of the story is the characters faith in God. That played a big part.
Overall this was a nice sweet read and liked it ok. It is a very predictable book though and got a bit too corny during some parts but if you are someone who likes the sweet romances then this one is for you. I'm not sure that I will be reading another story from this author simply because I like my romance sexy but that doesn't mean other readers wouldn't love this one!
(My copy of this book was provided for me by the author in exchange for an honest review.)

Blog Tour: "Tip of the Spear" by Marie Harte (Guest Post/Giveaway)
Today we have Marie Harte stopping by as a part of her Tip of the Spear Blog Tour and she'll be talking to us about that and leaving us a super steamy excerpt. :)
With a blog named Book Lovin’
Mamas, I know I’m in good company. J I’m a
book addict. I can read a 400 page book in one sitting in one night, despite
the mewls of hunger from my children and the dust balls sweeping across my
kitchen floor. (Trust me, the nine year old eats enough for seven people. He
can handle not having third and fourth helpings when I’m reading.) I write what I like to read, and I get tired
of the same old, same old. Enter an Amazon Western called Tip of the Spear. The
concept takes some of my favorite themes in romance books—passion, adventure,
sexual tension, alpha hero, strong-willed heroine—and tosses them all together .
Strong yet vulnerable heroine?
Check. Her name is Thais (Tay-iss), an Amazon warrior.
Sexy bounty hunter who knows how
to use what he’s been given? Hinto Dakota, and he never misses his man, or
woman, when he’s hunting.
Western theme? Check.
Hint of the paranormal? Oh yeah.
Bad guys you hate yet empathize
with? Yep. (And I particularly like villains who aren’t black or white, but
gray.)
Sexual tension that builds until
the hero and heroine combust…together? Whoo-ee, yeah.
The chance to delve into a world
unlike other places you’ve already read about? Yes.
And a steamy excerpt to show you
what I’m talking about? See below…
Year
1156 NB, New Beginning Thais
(Tay-iss) lost her mother, her queen, and most of her tribe at the hands of
brutal foreigners, all while she enjoyed a respite from duty. But the young
Amazon with vengeance in her heart refuses to lose anything else. She’ll bring
back the queen’s stolen crown or die trying. Life in the Territories has its
perils: the Nature Laws, carnivorous beasts, and treacherous men who survived
the Time of Dying. One man in particular, a warrior in his own right, has an odd
effect on her senses. She comes to desire him, to trust him, and she doesn’t
like it. Men are good for war and breeding, neither of which Thais has time
for, not when she’s so close to finding those responsible for the crown’s
theft. In the course of her quest, Thais finds much more than atonement for her
troubled past, but a pure and lasting love, if only she has the courage to
accept it.
EXCERPT
Hinto
was having the most erotic dream. In it, Thais lay naked in his arms, her
breasts filling his palms, her ass snug against his cock as he ground into her.
He moaned and thrust again, frustrated by the distance between them he couldn’t
seem to breach.
He
leaned forward and kissed her neck. She tasted fresh, like the vanilla oatmeal
soap he’d handed her, right before she’d walked up to him by the stream, naked
as a newborn. He’d never in his life been so ready to fuck as he’d been then. Hell, as he was now.
He
cupped her hip and ground against her, needing relief. More, he needed to know
what she felt, if she would finally accept him. All of him. An odd flash of
energy swept through him, and he said to hell with waiting. He shoved his hand
down her pants and between her thighs.
“Fuck,
you’re wet,” he murmured and nipped at her ear.
“Hinto,”
she breathed and squirmed against him. “Hinto?”
The
panic in her tone alerted him that all was not as it should be. Hinto woke with
his mouth over Thais’s neck and his hand between her sleek thighs. His finger
rested on her engorged nub, and he couldn’t help rubbing it back and forth as
he arched into her.
“What
are you doing?” she gasped, but she didn’t tell him to stop.
“Yes,
that’s it. A little more.” He slid his finger deeper inside her tight sheath
and thrust harder against her ass. His jeans rubbed his cock raw as he tried to
come. But her hot, wet sex flooded for him, telling him that no matter what she
said, she wanted him as much as he wanted her.
“Ss-top.
Let me go.”
He
groaned. “Dammit, stop squirming.” He removed his hand from between her legs,
but every time she bucked against him, she shot his lust sky high.
“Why are
you rubbing against me?” She tried to turn in his arms and pushed harder
against him.
Completely
lost, he groaned as he came, messing a perfectly fine pair of trousers. He
heard her call his name in concern, but he couldn’t stop. Hinto finally found
relief from a hard-on he’d suffered from most of the night, but his orgasm was
less than ideal. He’d prefer to fill her instead of his damned pants.
“Are you
all right?”
He
opened his eyes to see Thais leaning over him, her shirt unbuttoned, her
breasts hanging free. He shifted to lay flat on his back and lifted his arm to
cover his eyes and block the view, when he caught the subtle fragrance of her
moist need still coating his finger.
Unable
to stop himself, he shoved the digit in his mouth and tasted her. By all that
was holy, he wanted more.
She
flushed and sat back on her heels, straddling his hips. “Why did you do that? And
why did you do this in the first
place?”
“Damn,
you taste good.” He worked to regulate his breathing and tried his best to
explain. Thais didn’t look so much angry as confused. And downright sexy. “I
was dreaming. I told you I’d dream about you, didn’t I?”
“Yes,
but why are you over here? Last night you sat across the fire.”
“You
stared moaning in your sleep. Restless, upset.” Her pain had bothered him on a
level that made him uncomfortable. “You were also shivering from cold. Probably
should have dried out that hair before falling asleep. So I put my arms around
you and you fell asleep. I was tired enough to rest with you.”
She
flushed. More embarrassed because of a nightmare or because of the near sex
they’d had? It was something he’d ask her about… once he cleaned himself up.
“I’m
sorry I woke you. But this—I—”
“This wasn’t
intentional. I swear.” He shifted underneath her and groaned, not needing
another erection with her so close.
“What’s
wrong? Did I hurt you?”
Damned
innocent. The brief joy from his climax faded under an annoying need to make her feel better. Well, screw her. He
didn’t need to play nursemaid to Thais. The woman could fend for herself just
fine.
“You
want to see what you did to me?” he rasped. Without waiting for her answer, he
unbuttoned his trousers and parted them. He showed her his semi-hard shaft covered
with seed. Masochist that he was, he wrapped her hand around him. “That’s what you did. You got me so hard
I came from dry humping you. Made a right mess of myself.”
She
stared down at him, speechless. Her gaze fastened on his cock and stayed there,
especially when it hardened in her grip. “Does it hurt?” she asked in a low
voice.
“Not now.
But it’s going to again, real soon. I can feel it.” He groaned, losing his
ability to think beyond the pressing ache in his groin.
“You
spilled seed,” she said, examining him with curiosity. “For breeding.”
“You
could say that. Hmm, rub it some more. Up and down.” He watched her watching
him and thought it the most erotic thing he’d ever witnessed. Seeing Thais get
him off had him harder than stone.
“This is
what makes it leak? When I do this?” She rubbed him right where he liked, and
his eyes rolled back in his head.
“Fuck,
yes,” he hissed. “Thais, feel how hard I am? That’s because I want you.”
“To
spill inside me?”
“Hell,
yeah, to spill inside you. You’ve never had anything inside you before, have
you?” He shifted under her, gratified when she squeezed him tighter.
“No. Only
Amazons selected to breed may,” she murmured, apparently caught in the same
wave of lust that he was to mention a part of her past. “You feel harder to me.
As if you are growing.”
“More. Rub
faster just under there. Feel how hard my balls are?” He shoved his jeans down
and tried to widen his legs. He pulled her other hand closer and groaned when
she cupped him. His hips arched into her touch, completely under her control. “I
want to come inside you, in your mouth, your cunt. You have no idea what I want
to do to you,” he breathed, staring up at her with promise. “Just say the word
and I’ll give it all to you, honey.”
She
frowned. “I feel… funny. I’m as slick as you are.” She slid her fingers over
his shaft and balls, rubbing his semen into his skin even as she looked at him
with suspicion.
She’s wet. Oh shit. She wants it and doesn’t
know what it means.
“I’m
aching inside,” she continued, killing him. “Burning. Is this what it feels
like to you?”
Fuck. I’m nearly there. “Yeah,
oh yeah, aching. Fuck me, I’m coming again. Hold me tight,” he urged before he
grunted and spattered his shirt with more come than he’d thought he had left.
She
eventually removed her hand and stared at the moisture coating her fingers. Linking
gazes, she mimicked what he’d done earlier. She stuck her finger to her tongue
and tasted him.
“That’s
even better than seeing you naked. Watching you lick my seed.” If he’d had the
energy, he would have shown her how to ease that ache inside. But he couldn’t
do much more than lie there feeling drunk.
Thais
regarded him with speculation. “This is the joining, then. Sex? This is the
great mystery?” She smiled, looking strangely relieved. “A man ruts and spills,
and your women hunger for it.” She shook her head. “I think I will never
understand.”
He
flushed as she moved away and disappeared in the direction of the stream. Damned
if she hadn’t taken him to heaven, only to rip it away with a smile. His
self-esteem drowned in a sea of mortification. But he couldn’t deny he deserved
it. Not only had he—though unknowingly—taken advantage of her while they slept,
but he’d come twice when she’d yet to have an orgasm.
“I’m
crazy for even thinking about pursuing this,” he muttered to himself while he
cleaned up. He visited the stream, unsure of what to say to Thais. Unsure of
how to talk to a woman. A first in his life.
Thais
spoke first, her voice full of confidence. “Thank you, Hinto. I learned much from our
encounter. I find your physical reactions curious. Do all men react this way to
a woman’s touch?”
“When a
woman looks and acts the way you do, a man would have to be dead not to react the
way I did,” he growled, defensive.
She
fucking grinned at him. “I didn’t
mean offense. I found your taste not unpleasant.”
He
closed his eyes, not needing that reminder again, especially when his dumbass
dick twitched.
She
shook her hands free of the water clinging to them. “I will wait for you by the
camp.”
He
watched the little witch go back to camp. Witch
or Amazon? She couldn’t possibly mean
Amazon, as in, legendary warrior woman from beyond the border. Probably
some wacko group of women living in a remote section of the Territories who
pretended to play tough. Then again, from the way Thais handled her conflicts
with fists and feet, one might assume she’d come from that mythic tribe.
He
cleaned himself as best he could and shivered in the morning air that made the
cold spots on his pants even colder. He didn’t like the feeling that he’d been
set aside, a curiosity and threat no more, as if Thais thought she’d seen what
he had to offer and could so easily dismiss him.
Grunting
with impatience, Hinto finished by the stream and took a moment to regroup. He’d
taken the damned job for Kitty to be closer to Thais. Crazy notion. Because now
that he had his wish, he almost wanted to go back and forget all about her. The
damned woman had wormed her way under his skin. He wanted to sleep with her
something fierce, but more, he wanted to help her, and he already had his hands
full trying to help himself.
He knew
better than most that happiness was a God-awful illusion. A chance at security
was the best any of them could do in these times. So why did he want to find
Bartel for the Amazon? Why did he itch to make her feel the way he had just
moments ago? Why not take the pleasure and forget about giving it back, focus
on his father’s health and finding the ones who’d hurt him?
“Because
I’m a dumb shit who’s as likely to get shot as he is to find his father a
cure,” he muttered, and tromped back to camp.
He found
Thais clean, dressed, and ready to ride.
And ripe
to be plucked from that innocence shining in her bright green eyes.
“Whenever
you’re ready,” she said in a throaty, accented voice that made him think of
soft sheets and sweaty sex.
I’ve been ready since the moment I laid eyes on
you. He wanted to yank her off her horse and show her just what an
orgasm felt like, and why so many lucky women in the Territories claimed him
the best they’d ever had. Instead he glowered and moved past her to Beast.
The next
few days were going to be the longest in his life, he just knew it.

Book Description:
A quiet,
lakeside vacation is just what Brielle needs to decompress after her busy
concert season. She expects the weeks to pass uneventfully. Until she meets the
men next door.
Tyler and
Zeke are as adventurous and sexy as the Harleys they ride. The passion they
hear in Brielle's music draws them to her.
Convinced the
hunks are gay, Brielle lets down her inhibitions. That turns out to be the best
decision she's made in a long time.
You can read my 3 Moon review HERE
Excerpt:
Brielle had stopped at the local
market to get enough supplies for a few days. She had no intention of going to
town unless there was a darn good reason. After her clothing and other
belongings were unpacked, she opened a bottle of wine—one of several she’d
bought—and contemplated the glorious evening sun.
The rumble of motorcycles disrupted
her musings. She craned her neck to see who the offenders were.
Two men
on leather-bedecked hogs cruised down the neighboring driveway. She watched
from the seclusion of her covered porch as they got off and parked their bikes.
Leather chaps covered their jeans. Boots and black leather vests made them look
badass. She waited for them to remove their helmets and reveal more of their
features.
She
wasn’t disappointed.
One of
the broad-shouldered men had flaxen hair. The second man ran his hands through
his dark hair that reached his shoulders. Even from a distance, she could tell
they were in good physical shape, and probably in their late twenties. A twinge
of naughtiness plucked her libido. Her vacation was already looking up.
The
bike-riding neighbors unpacked their saddlebags and carried their gear into
their cabin. The door shut softly behind them and returned the peace and quiet
they’d interrupted.
Brielle
watched the sun dip lower, streaking the sky with brilliant red, orange, and
yellow against the clear blue backdrop. The deep sounds of a motoryacht’s
engines mixed with the haunting sounds from the loons.
Inspired,
she refilled her wineglass, and then brought her cello to the three-season
porch. She moved her bow across the taut strings, warming up, wondering what
she should play. She sipped her wine while searching through her extensive
music collection. Her hand rested on Bach’s Toccata
and Fugue in D Minor. Did she dare? Could she play with even half the
passion Mei Ju had the other day?
Closing
her eyes, Brielle focused on the sounds and sight of Mr. Ju on stage.
Will that ever be me?
She
drew her bow back and forth on the strings to play the fiery interludes and soulful
chords. Brielle imagined herself in front of the orchestra, the way Ju had
been, and did her best to do justice to the piece he’d played so brilliantly.
As she
played the last, low note, she noticed the two men standing on their porch,
watching her. Heat flared in her cheeks, whether from the exertion of playing
or the embarrassment of their witness, she didn’t know.
One man
began clapping.
Not
expecting that reaction, she chuckled.
“Play
something else,” said the man with the long hair.
Thinking
they were making fun of her, she closed her music and stood. “Funny guy.”
“No,
really, play some more.”
She
contemplated the request for a moment. “You’re not going to call the cops?”
The
blond one laughed. “Oh, hell no. Come on. Play something hot and sexy.”
Bolstered by
their enthusiasm, she wondered what she could play that might fit the bill.
“Just a minute.” A number of titles ran through her mind and she dismissed them
all. Ah, the perfect one.
Margie lives
in Minnesota, is married, and has two children. Some of her passions are music,
flower gardening, biking, walking on moonlit nights, nature, and making people
laugh. She also writes children's books under the pen name, Margaret Rose.

All the Fun
of YA written for Adults
I received this book as a part of this blog tour for free in exchange for my honest review.
When I read the description for this book I was very intrigued but I had no clue what to expect and I definitely wasn't expecting to get sucked in the way I did. I could hardly get anything done because I was so anxious to see what happens next. This series reads like YA but it'd definitely not. I had a little bit of trouble following this authors writing style because it's quite a bit different than what I normally read but it in no way affected the story and there were times that I wish there had been more background information but I have a feeling most of what I want to know, will be in the next Vol.
The characters are what made this story so enjoyable for me. The story starts with Serafey's mom escaping the Erdlanders, which are essentially like human and her mother is a Sualwet who live under water in the ocean. The Erdlanders and the Sualwets are at war and Sera's mom was their prisoner. Sera is the product of a cruel science experiment gone so she's one of a kind, half sualwet and half erdlander, so she grew up basically alone in hiding from the Erdlanders who had caused her mothers pregnancy in the first place. While in hiding Sera meets Torkek, Tor for short and there seems to be an instant connection. And there starts their friendship which could possibly blossom into more. Together they venture into enemy territory pretending to be Erdlanders to save their own lives. This story of Sera and Tor's adventure was well thought out and beautifully written, even with the fact that I wasn;t used to the writing style. Sera and Tor were fun creative characters and I couldn't help but love them both instantly. Their feelings for each other were so sweet, I couldn't help but hope for the best for them.
I give this set of stories 4.5 Moons! It's a creative and captivating story that I absolutely fell in love with. If you love YA, you'll love this story and if you love romance you'll love this story. It really is the best of both worlds. My one and only really complaint is the ending. That was one heck of a cliffhanger! :( I wanna know what happens and I wanna know now. But I guess since I love these characters so much I will have to be patient but make no mistake, I will definitely be reading Vol. 4 when it releases because they deserve and ending and I wanna read it, so so bad! And who's to say Vol. 4 will be the ending, maybe there is much more to this story and I'm so excited to find out!!!

"His Very Own Girl" Blog Tour - Guest Post
Easy on the Eyes
By Carrie Lofty
I’m a historian, but
I’m also a woman with eyes…eyes that are drawn to men in uniform. What is it
about a uniform that suddenly adds sex appeal to an otherwise ordinary guy?
Maybe it’s status. We know the sharper the dresser—and the more medals and do-dads
pinned all over the place—the braver he’s proven himself to be.
Men in business suits
wear the “uniform” of their position, but you can’t tell just by looking at his
sleeve whether he’s an intern or a VP. When looking out for the right guy,
those considerations are important! “Am I falling for a rich billionaire CEO,
or the guy who makes coffee?”
The military makes it
much simpler, and still very snazzy. I mean, look at this dress coat! That says
“squared away” and ready for action…of all kinds. And you know an image has
legs when advertisers try to capitalize on the mystique. Check out this Clark
Gable lookalike in the leather bomber jacket. In the 1940s, the message was
clear: You wanna be cool? You need to look like the Real Deal.
The heroine of HIS VERY OWN GIRL, Lulu Davies, is a British civilian pilot who meets soldiers and
airmen all the time. Leicester has been overrun with Americans billeting in
preparation for D-Day, so she’s made it somewhat of a hobby to be able read the
mysterious insignia of their uniforms. Here, she catches sight of a group
mingling outside of a club:
Each chap wore the golden wings
of a paratrooper and the AA arm patch of the 82nd Airborne. So they weren’t any
old Yanks. They were the All-Americans. A more boisterous, arrogant lot
couldn’t be found in the U.S. Army. They split their time between war maneuvers
and seeking out—in no particular order—women, liquor, food, music, and trouble.
They were heaps of fun.
And when she meets
paratrooper medic Joe Weber, she sizes him up with the same cheeky precision.
In this case, Lulu doesn’t mind at all that she’s landed herself a private
rather than a general!
“Now it’s my turn to guess.” She
took hold of his shoulders and turned his upper body to face her squarely. Joe shivered
when she gave his biceps a quick squeeze. A secret smile tilted the corners of
her perfectly painted lips. “Only one chevron,” she said, glancing at his tunic
sleeve. “Poor private.”
“First class, at least.”
“You don’t think I’d be seen with
any less, do you?”
“I wouldn’t presume.”
She touched the insignia of wide
eagles’ wings affixed above his right breast pocket. “No stars above your jump
wings, which means despite being with the 82nd Airborne, you haven’t
yet seen combat.”
“I’m impressed.”
“You shouldn’t be,” she said with
a dismissive wave. “Simply means I’ve idled with too many soldiers. Now all I
need is your name.”
“Joe Weber.”
Lulu finished her drink and
nodded for Joe to do the same. He complied. The beer wasn’t strong enough to
cool how hot his blood was running. Not by half.
She took his hand. “Well, Pfc.
Joe Weber, I’ll have that dance now.”
Yeah, Joe looked fine,
but I think she was actually more interested in what he wore underneath. This
is a romance novel, after all!

Blog Tour: "Heart of the Warrior" by Donya Lynne
We'd like to welcome Donya Lynne to Book Lovin' Mamas today! We'll be learning a bit about her and her series All The Kings Men. I have read both books and I have to say, they're really great books!
Donya Lynne's Bio:
Donya
resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, with her husband and a small zoo of cats and
dogs. In fact, her writing buddy, Lucky, serves as her writing assistant most
days, staying right by her side and distracting Donya with her adorable-ness
when needed. Because, hey, every author needs a distraction once in a while.
As a
little girl, Donya always had a book in her hand. As she got older, the books
became pens and notebooks, which she filled with stories and poetry. For as
long as she remembers, she has been writing and studying the writing craft with
the goal of being published one day. She is passionate about providing readers
with what she calls an experience. She wants readers to be able to sink into
her stories and escape reality for just a little while, and every word is
written, and every sentence structured, with that goal in mind.
Donya
loves music and often finds inspiration for her stories in the wide range of
music she listens to. But occasionally it's a movie, a book, or just a drive
around town that inspires her work. She constantly reads new material, new
authors, and different styles of writing as a means to improve her own, and
believes the writing process is one an author should always strive to perfect,
even though perfecting it is an impossible feat. It's the thrill of the chase
and the challenge that keeps her from getting stagnant in her own work.

two novellas in the All the King's Men series, as well as several stand-alone

In the streets of Chicago exists an uneasy, centuries-old truce
between vampires and their distant cousins, a race of shifters called
drecks. Vampire enforcement agency, All the King’s Men (AKM), is charged
with maintaining the truce, but when volatile enforcer Micah Black loses his
mate and falls into the biological agony that results from the broken bond, he
tests the boundaries of the truce by seeking out Apostle, a leader in the dreck
community. Micah wants Apostle to kill him, a request Apostle is more
than happy to fulfill.
When ex-Army medic Samantha Garrett inadvertently disrupts the
plot and saves Micah’s life, a chain reaction sets Micah’s heart on a collision
course with Sam’s, but he will have to protect her from Apostle and her
obsessive ex-husband, Steve, if they will have a chance at forever. Can
Micah hold his emotions together to keep Sam alive?

Severin was born to be a warrior. Conceived as a mixed-blood
when his vampire father raped his dreck mother over two centuries ago, Severin
retained the power of iron skin inherent to newborn drecks. However, Sev keeps
this secret closely guarded. If it's discovered that inferior dreck blood flows
in his vampire veins, it could destroy his life. And to make matters worse, his
father suddenly wants to make amends for his transgressions. Sev wants nothing
of his father's apology, especially now, as he contends with both an assassin
who has marked Sev for blood vengeance and his obsessive attraction to his
teammate, Arion.
Arion is the son of King Bain's liaison, Gregos Savakis, who had
Ari's course plotted before he was even born. But what Ari's overbearing
parents wanted for him wasn't what Arion wanted for himself, and a lifetime
spent fighting through one relationship after another with females from all
walks of life has left him weary in his search for a mate. After a startling
and erotic encounter with Sev, Ari has begun to realize why. He's gay. And now
he can't stop thinking about Sev. Arion suddenly realizes he's been forcing
himself to be with females because that's what his parents expected. But what
he wants is a male, and not just any male. Arion wants Severin.
Can the two overcome the secrets, prejudice, plotting, and the
threat on Severin's life to find happily ever after with each other?
