Review: "Lead and Follow" by Katie Porter
Lead and Follow
(Club Devant #1)
by: Katie Porter
Publishing Date: 1/8/13
Publisher: Samhain Publishing
Genre: Erotica w/ M/M | Menage
Source: Provided by Author
Description:
The best partners share everything...
Lizzie Maynes's torn ACL threatens more than her career as an international Latin ballroom champion. During her lengthy recovery, her longtime professional partner, Dima Turgenev, has been dancing at the Chelsea District's most notorious burlesque, Club Devant. More than just dancing, he’s been experimenting with shocking new moves that make her want to pull him off stage and get back on tour as soon as possible--the better to keep their successful friendship safe.
Dima knows all about safety, and the lack thereof, because he blames himself for Lizzie’s injury. Far from the pressures of competition, Club Devant is the perfect creative venue to rebuild his rattled confidence. He’d love for Lizzie to join him and revel in the club's intoxicating freedoms. By exploring the new sensual energy simmering between them, they could become more than friends.
Paul Reeves, a recently divorced Texan starting over in the Big Apple, is all for joining the dancers as they blaze through sexual boundaries. But he also knows their sizzling trio won’t last. Lizzie and Dima belong together. Before the last sparks fade, he plans to transform two stubborn friends into lasting lovers--one raunchy lesson at a time.
Warning: Burlesque meets ballroom in this f***ing sexy book when a smoldering Russian dance god and a blonde firecracker with hips possessed by the devil share a sunny, filthy-minded Texan--for just a dance or two.

My Review:
This is my first book from the fabulous Katie Porter and it definitely will not be my last. My blog partner has read Katie's books before and I read the synopsis of "Lead and Follow", I knew it was one book I had to read from Katie Porter.
"Lead and Follow" is a erotica with M/M and Menage in it. Erotica is one of my fave genres and having M/M and Menage elements made this book beyond HOT.
Remember me saying the synopsis sold me on reading this book, well reading this book, I definitely look forward to reading the next book in the Club Devant series and so on.
This is the first book I have read that has dancing in it and the dancing is ballroom style, but with a lot of sexiness involved.
Here you have the sexy Russian who has the right moves and the sexy blonde bombshell who knows the sexy Russian's moves by heart. In fact she knows how to make the Russian fall for her.
After her injury while dancing with her partner, Lizzie has been coping with what happen. She could lose everything she ever worked for including her partner if she does not get her act together.
Dima remembers the day his partner tore her ACL and it has been eating at him since then. He wants his dance partner back, but she has been acting different ever since the injury.
Club Devant where Dima dances at now with his new partner is not what he truly wants. He feels stressed due to what happened to his partner and the club owner knows something is missing in Dima's life.
It takes an outsider to have Lizzie and Dima realize what they are capable of doing together.
Paul, the outsider who is the bartender at Club Devant meets with Lizzie and has some fun with her and he is intrigued with Dima the minute he sees him. Lizzie and Dima are about to make his world different, but he is about to change their world as well.
Katie Porter pulls you into story of two stubborn friends who put themselves through so much drama and sex. She thens makes you run to take several cold showers after all the amazing sex between Paul, Dima, and Lizzie. OMG! Just thinking about those scenes...makes me want to have a cold glass of water to calm down.
Dima and Lizzie have so much chemistry, not only because of their dances together, but being there with and for each other since they were young. I fell in love with both them the minute they were introduced. The best part of this book was you get inside the head of both of them so you feel each of their emotions and what they are going through. Who did I side with more though...Dima. Poor guy...he definitely was feeling crazy over what Lizzie kept putting him through. I just wanted to go through the book and hug him and maybe even steal him from Lizzie. I was rooting for them to get together though. They definitely were meant for each other.
Paul, the sexy cowboy bartender....my thoughts on him...sex in a cowboy hat...enough said on that one.
Remember the saying, save a horse, ride a cowboy....definitely thinking that when I read the scenes with Paul.
Lizzie was one lucky gal in this story. She had both Dima and Paul. She needed that swift kick in the butt at the end though.
Oh...and the ending was the best part in the story. I was literally in tears. I felt like I was on stage with Dima when his dance partner came into the light.
Katie Porter's "Lead and Follow" is an amazing sexy start to the Club Devant novels. The title alone should have you wanting to buy the book because the title has meaning to the story and what happens between the characters.
I give this book 4.5 full moons and highly recommend it to readers who enjoy the erotica genre.
I look forward to what Katie Porter does in the next books and I will be well-prepared ahead of time when I read the next books too...cold water and ice to help me cool down and maybe even a glass of wine or two or three. Oh yes...this is that kind of book.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Book Description:
Natalie Fritz
didn't need a night of sexual adventure as payment for setting her friend up,
but she wouldn't turn it down either. Determined to make sure she gets exactly
what she wants, she contacts Madame Eve and requests not one, but two dates for
the evening. What she doesn't expect is for those men to be players on her
friend's hockey team.
Ian and Todd
find that sharing women provides all parties with more pleasure. Finding
someone who buys into their theory is a little harder. So they turn to Madame
Eve's 1 Night Stand service to locate a partner. When they meet Natalie, they
discover a gorgeous woman who turns them on physically and intellectually.
Most relationships
are meant to be between two people, but what happens when it takes three to
make the night worthwhile? Can they take a leap of faith or will their time be
limited to one night?
Excerpt:
"I've spent enough time around hockey players to know that they aren't the kind
of guys that I want to waste my time with." She stared the two of them
down, her eyes fixed and unyielding.
"And how is it that you've spent
so much time around us that you know how all of us behave?" He knew some
of his teammates could be real assholes, but he hated to think that their
reputation could ruin this night for Todd and him. Especially after he'd spent
most of practice sporting a hard on from fantasizing about the evening. They
weren't allowed to ruin this for him.
"Scott's your friend that you set
up with this service, right?" She started pacing.
Todd and Ian both nodded.
"Well, TJ is my best friend that
I set up." She stopped and turned toward them.
For once, he actually felt speechless.
That explained why she looked familiar to him. Now that he could place her, he
remembered seeing her hanging around the rink after practice and before games.
His brain sifted through the new information while Todd picked up the
conversation.
"Look, I get it. You've met a few
players who were complete jerks." She snorted and covered her mouth.
Tempted to respond to her display, he bit the inside of his cheek and let his
friend continue talking. "You asked for a certain experience tonight
though. If we leave, you aren't going to get that. Who knows when you'll be
able to find a couple of other guys willing to provide it."
My Review
This was ONE HOT READ!!! Yummy!!! I've read a lot of short stories before, and I mean a lot, and I have to say this one was the hottest. Maybe not my most favorite but it's definitely up there. Character and story development could have been a little bit better but you can only do so much with so few pages, so what was given worked ok for me.
Natailie has always wanted to be with two men before but never quite had the nerve to actually do it. But now, thanks to Madam Eve, she has two perfect and very willing men who are going to help her out with it. And boy do they! Ian and Todd are very passionate lovers, always taking care of Natalie. The dynamics between the characters was good. They meshed well together, it wasn't awkward at all really and aside from Natalie being kind of bitchy about the whole hockey player thing, they all complemented each other very well.
I do wish this had been a little bit longer, because I really liked these characters, but for a short story it was a really good one. It was very sexy and short enough to read in less than an hour so I recommend this one to all who love steamy erotic romance. I'll definitely be checking out what else this author has written!!!

Description
Christmas is the perfect time for Firefighter Ronan O’Rourke
to take things to the next level with his sexually adventurous girlfriend. He
knows she has feelings for him—and he’s sure of his feelings for her—but when
Thea refuses his invitation to sample Christmas in New York City because what
they share is nothing more than sheet-burning sex, Ronan sets out to change her
mind.
Deep down Thea Moretti knows she cares for Ronan, but she
can’t move past her grief over her late husband. Loud music and sex with Ronan
are the only things she’s got that her feel alive, so she takes as much of both
as she can get. She knows Ronan wants more, but during the darkest time of the
year finding her way won’t be easy.
Ronan gambles everything and challenges Thea: one night of
passion with him and another man. Can he prove to her that what they share
isn’t just great sex but an emotional connection strong enough to last forever?
Review
Oh man, I need a cold shower after reading this sexy little novella! Anne really knows how to write the steamy stuff!!! I was really taken with both Ronan and Thea but Ronan was my favorite of the two. He's the typical big sexy alpha male and he's firefighter. What is better than that? And he was perfect for Thea, who was no longer really living because she lost her husband a couple of years before. They are such the match made in heaven. Thea needed to be rescued and him having his hero complex needed someone to rescue. And let me tell you, he did a really REALLY good job of rescuing her. ;)
I had one little issue with the book but it didn't affect how much I enjoyed it. The scene with Thea, Ronan and Tim was a bit awkward to me. Maybe it's just me but I don't really see how sharing your woman will show her that she really only needs you. But like I said, maybe it's just me. I enjoy a good menage story every now and then but this part of the story fell kind of flat for me.

erotica and you like those big sexy fire fighters that have a hero complex,
well then this book is for you!!!

Interview with Barbara Elsborg
Please give a warm welcome to Barbara Elsborg today on Book Lovin' Mamas. Where we had a chance to interview her. =)
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I live in West Yorkshire in the north of England. I always wanted to be a spy, but having confessed that to everyone without them even resorting to torture, I decided it was not for me. Vulcanology scorched my feet. A morbid fear of sharks put paid to marine biology. So instead, I spent several years successfully selling cyanide. (Try saying that fast) After dragging up two rotten, ungrateful children and frustrating my sexy, devoted, wonderful husband (who can now stop twisting my arm) I finally have time to conduct an affair with an electrifying plugged-in male, my laptop. My books feature quirky heroines and bad boys, and I hope they are much fun to read as they are to write.
2. What does a typical writing day look for you?
Up at 5.20 am. Gym from 6.00 to 8.00. Write from 8.00 to 5.00. Well, the gym is every other day but I still only start writing at 8.00! I have to start with a black coffee too, followed by several more black coffees. I have a resident house slave – who does the shopping, but sadly not the cooking, ironing or cleaning. I keep threatening to send him back but he has other uses!
3. Tell our readers a little bit about "Girl Most Likely to" and why they should check it out?
The story is a spin off using a very minor character from Kiss a Falling Star. No need to read that to understand what’s going on. I think after I’d had Adam set fire to his shoes in the microwave in Kiss, I suspected he’d star in a book of his own. I also used surplus material from my book Doing The Right Thing which was a monster when I’d finished it, so I cut a plot line and eventually managed to use it in Girl Most Likely To. In Girl Most Likely To, Adam needs to get over the past year, forget the pair of employees he’s lusted after and get on with his life. Rich and successful don’t mean much when he has nothing outside of work. He’s on vacation to learn another language, but finds there’s more to happiness than memorizing words. If he doesn’t speak from his heart, he’ll lose his chance for the balance he’s longed for. Wren doesn’t feel like the girl most likely to end up living happily ever after. Guys lie, cheat and steal from her. She swears off any more smiling charmers, and then—THE BIG MISTAKE—comes back into her life. Adam wants a second chance, but can Wren risk another dent in her battered heart? Tomas knows better than to let his personal life interfere with work, but he just can’t help himself. Somehow, he’ll manage to protect the man and woman falling for him from having much more than their hearts broken—won’t he? If he fails, he’ll lose everything. It’s an MMF ménage that’s a mix of romantic comedy and romantic suspense. More suspense than I usually write and I set it in Leeds where I live, rather than London and that was a nice change.
4. What inspired you to start writing?
Being tall, lonely and friendless. Sad but true - I had no one to go out with so I became addicted to TV and movies and books. Safe worlds where I’d never be hurt. I started to dream about me being in the movie with those good-looking heroes and eventually I started to write fan fiction. I still have about 200 shortish stories – all with a tall, blonde, awkward heroine! Usually she was abused or treated badly and was saved from a horrible life by a good looking hero. I grew out of fan fiction just about the time I went to college. That nearly stopped me writing forever - how could I even think I could write - but once I started work, I began again. My first two novels are still in the bottom of the closet!
5. What was the hardest scene to write in "Girl Most Likely to"?
I think the start – I always have an issue getting the right tone. I rewrite the first chapter or so a large number of times. But I like what I’ve done with this. Three little snippets with each of the main characters at a wedding – all very different sorts of wedding.
6. When you are not writing what are your hobbies or interests?
Reading. I LOVE reading. I also like running, but only when I’m on holiday. Otherwise I go to the gym but exercising puts me in the right mood for sitting on my butt all day and writing.
7. Do you have any advice for other writers?
Read as much as you can – make time for it because you learn what works and what doesn’t. If you don’t have a crit partner, join a group and share critiques of your work. Then polish, polish until you’re sick of what you’ve written. Then leave it awhile and polish some more.
8. What's up next for Barbara Elsborg?
I have a story called Jumping in Puddles coming out with Loose-Id – it’s in edits at the moment. It’s a paranormal MF romance about a dark lord of the manor and a rain-dancing faerie. I loved writing this one. It just flowed. Not all of them do. I also have an MM called Every Move He Makes – due out next May with Samhain. Plus a 1NS story for Decadent called – Just What She Wants – a MMF erotic romance. Plus – ooh what a lot – another story for Decadent for a new line they’re introducing – lips sealed on that one. I’m currently writing a short MMF for a publisher I’ve not approached before and then I can get to my Walmart story – I’ve tried three times to write that one and given up. This time I’ll DO IT!! My problem is too many characters and I need get a handle on that. I can’t call the store Walmart either so if anyone has any ideas – Tarmart? T-Mart? Fun questions:
9. If you could have dinner with one famous person who would it be and why?
Oscar Pistorius – he’s an Olympic and Paralympic athlete whose legs were amputated. He runs on blades and he’s just such a nice guy. Well, not that I’ve ever met him, but he sounds nice on TV. He’s an inspiration for anyone with a disability and I admire his courage. Doesn’t hurt that he’s good-looking!
10. If you were stranded on an island, what 3 things must you have to survive?
Apart from water and food and shelter? A very large supply of books – HUGE!! Like a container full. Plus writing materials – equally large amount. And a man. Not sure which order they should go in. Oh yes, I am – the man – call me shallow. (And don’t tell my husband because I wasn’t thinking of him) Cough – er – well it would be very selfish to want to strand him with me, wouldn’t it?? Water getting deeper – drowning......

Description:
Wren doesn’t feel like the girl most likely to end up living happily ever after. Especially when Adam, aka THE BIG MISTAKE, comes back into her life. He wants a second chance but Wren’s afraid to risk another dent in her battered heart.
When Adam reconnects with Wren, he’s torn between wooing her and pursuing Tomas, the sexy guy in the flat next door. They both make his heart sing—how can he possibly choose? Or maybe he’s finally found a man and woman to give him the balance he craves.
Tomas knows better than to let his personal life interfere with his job as an undercover officer but he can’t get enough of Adam…or Wren. Or Adam and Wren, when they’re hot, naked and writhing together in his bed.
Suddenly Wren’s gone from the girl most likely to get ripped off to the girl most likely to get off. But it’s more than sex. She, Tomas and Adam have something special, something they’re determined to protect at all costs.

My Review:
Excuse me, while I fan myself because this was one HOT book.
I have read erotic books before with menage in them, but nothing like this book.
Barbara Elsborg definitely knows how to write a very sexy, steamy, hot scene between two guys and one girl. And can I just say the girl was lucky. =)
Wren has dated some awful blokes in the past, in fact, she still happens to see one every day when she goes to work since he's married to her cousin and works at the same school she does. She even had a guy she thought loved her, but ended up stealing her money and charging up her credit card. She feels she will never meet a good guy she can trust with her heart.
Wren never thought she would be tempted in life with two guys...until she meets Tomas and Adam. Adam she met five years ago in Venice, Italy. They had a very steamy moment together and they thought, they would never see each other again....then there's Tomas who is in Wren's English class. Wren believes something is up with him since he manages to make jokes in English and he will not stop flirting with her. She knows she should not hook up with a student, but Tomas is making it tough on her.
Wren is already tempted by Tomas in class and then she finds out Adam is in her Italian class. She has two guys now sneaking her attention.
Although, Tomas and Adam have their own secret agenda for her and themselves. Adam is on vacation from London, England trying to get his assistants out of his head and trying to come with peace that he will never have what they have in a relationship. Until he meets Tomas next door and runs into Wren....now he thinks he has met the two people who will change his life for the better.
And Tomas is living a secret life that he is trying to keep to himself, until Wren ends up in the middle of it and so does Adam.
I could go on and on, but I will spoil the book for readers who want to give it go.
Let me just tell you ahead of time....this is a menage book that involves male on male, male on male on female and lots of sex, which includes anal and many other things. (You get the idea) It also includes a fetish club that involves dressing up and many other things that you can think of that may happen in a fetish club.
I just wanted to warn you a head of time before you dive into this book.
I really enjoyed the storyline of the book as well as, if you have not guess, the sexual encounters between all three characters as well. Barbara definitely supplies you with suspense, romance, and very erotic moments. I know for a fact I needed a cold shower after every sex scene between Wren, Tomas, and Adam. Wren definitely got with two experienced guys who helped her make her mind up with the experience they offered her.
Once you start this book, you will want to figure out what is going on where Wren works, why Tomas has to work with the bad buy, and if Adam is hiding something (because he is sometimes too good to be true).
Wren was one strong female character who happened to get her self into a lot of trouble through the book, but she handles it well.
Adam had his insecurities about having a relationship with Wren and Tomas and if they were willing to be a threesome. He was trying everything to come to terms to what happened to him in the past.
Tomas had his own past he had to deal with and get over. He was trying everything to keep his secret hidden, but when it fell through, he just wanted to keep everyone he loved safe.
If you love erotica that involves menage, that includes lots of sex (regular, anal, etc...) and also enjoy some suspense and action, you will definitely enjoy "Girl Most Likely to".
You will also eventually find out the meaning behind the title of the book. =)
I will definitely be checking out Barbara's other books very soon.

Review
OMG, I loved this book! This is a well written story that deserves much more than the highest rating I can give. I've said it before but it deserves a repeat...this woman can write! Elle has once again made me the happiest reader ever! Not only was this book fantastic but it was longer and much more fulfilling than a short novella. Nothing against the others in the series, it's well known I love them all, but this one gave me more story, which I loved! :)
Elle's characters always seem to real, she writes them so well that I feel like I know them when I finish a book and they're all so undeniably sexy! I mean I think ALL Navy SEALS are sexy but there is just something about Elle's guys that makes me swoon! Cash is by far my favorite male character in this series. He's funny, charming, so hot and such a sweetheart! Not only does he love his girl but he loves his friends too and it shows throughout the whole book. And Jen is one of (I have another that is tied for fave with her) my favorite female characters. She's so funny and I LOVED her little teasers with Cash. Talk about cruel and unusual punishment and that sexual tension was so thick it probably could have been cut with a knife. Hehe And talk about scorching hot sex scenes! WOW! Those two sure did burn up the sheets! And since I want to leave it a surprise I'll just say that there is some extra hot action somewhere in the middle of the book that is a must read for all Menage fans out there. I love M/F/M menage stories, and Elle sure does know how to write one, but this one tops my list of all time favorites in that department. ;)
The secondary characters were fun too. Lots of old faces showed up in this one and it was so nice to get an update on them. Especially Carson and Holly! I'm so so happy for those two and I hope we get to hear from them again in the future. Now for the new characters, who I am so excited to read about in the future books as well. Two of them stood out to me. Dylan, who I'm so curious about. Is he, isn't he? Hmm...made me wanna know all about him. And Jackson, the sexy Texan. Since I'm a very proud Texan, he's gonna be a fun one to read about. Can't wait to see what kind of women they find for themselves!
All in all this book has surpassed my expectations and made me so so happy and I feel so honored that Elle let me read it early! Thanks Elle!!! You're the best! This book is full of sexy humor, tons of sexual tension, a little bit of dirty dirty sex, some suspenseful action and the sweetest love story I've ever read! I give this book 5 Moons, so wish I could give it more, and I recommend it to all Erotic Romance lovers out there! This is definitely a must read! So go pre-order and fall in love with it just like I did! :)
