Genre: Light Romance
Source: Provided by Author
Purchase Links: Amazon

Description
Two weeks before Christmas, Callie's jerk of a boyfriend dumps her. Now it's looking like she'll not only be deflecting her mothers marriage talk but she will also be spending it single. Until a handsome stranger comes into town and sweeps her off her feet.

Review
This was a sweet Christmas time story of two people from opposite life styles and opposite sides of the world yet they still manage to find genuine love in times when that is so so hard to find!

This book was sent to me by the author for review so when I got it I had no idea what to expect. What I got was something new and refreshing from what my normal tastes in reading are. The romance is light, meaning no sexy stuff, but that didn't make too much difference for me. I enjoyed the characters and the story, it's very rare to find a book where a huge part of the story is the characters faith in God. That played a big part.

Overall this was a nice sweet read and liked it ok. It is a very predictable book though and got a bit too corny during some parts but if you are someone who likes the sweet romances then this one is for you. I'm not sure that I will be reading another story from this author simply because I like my romance sexy but that doesn't mean other readers wouldn't love this one!

(My copy of this book was provided for me by the author in exchange for an honest review.)

Blog Tour: "Holiday Jinx" by Abbey MacInnis (Interview/Giveaway)

Welcome to our virtual tour stop of "Holiday Jinx" by Abbey Macinnis brought to you by Lit Connect Events.

Explain HOLIDAY JINX in your own words – no blurb! :)

Hi, Thanks for having me here!

Well, without the blurb, I’d say Holiday Jinx is a story of self-acceptance and forgiveness. Chris, the hero, has many inner issues to overcome. He doesn’t like himself in the beginning. I like to think of him as kind of a Scrooge, but he has good reason to be bitter and angry. Natalie, the heroine, has also been hurt. During the course of the story, someone she loves and admires dearly hurts her terribly. She has to learn forgiveness in order to be happy. These two have their own inner battles to fight in order to come together and fall in love. And they need to help each other get past these issues in order to do that.

As for Jinx the elf, she has her own lesson to learn. There were many paralels I had to work through and ends to tie up for this book. I loved every minute of it.

Tell us a little bit about your secondary character Jinx.

Jinx was the first character that showed herself to me. She was “that elf” for the longest time. LOL The first scene with Chris and Jinx was what came to me initially. I didn’t know much about who Jinx or any of the other characters were at that point. All I knew was there was this naughty elf who had a debt to repay. She pissed Santa off enough to have her magic taken away. And after I figured out the why’s, the story took off from there.

I really didn’t think I’d write a story featuring Jinx as the heroine, but I’m seriously considering it for next year. I really fell in love with her character.

What does Jinx bring to the storyline?

I think she adds a magical element to the book. She provides some comic relief when things get heated between Chris and Natalie. She also adds another layer of conflict to the story. I found myself hoping things would work out for her too come the end of the book. And I’ve always loved holiday stories with Santa and his elves. Granted, Jinx is certainly unconventional with her candy cane gun that shoots tinsel. LOL.

How does the setting help contribute to the story?

My hero and heroine hate being stuck together. If there wasn’t a blizzard, she’d leave, which is the worst thing she could do. I tried adding some romance with the fireplace and snowball fight. Huh? Yep, snow can be romantic. I think the cabin and blizzard add to the overall romance and even conflict of the book because the nasty weather forces them to face their own issues within themselves and the problems between them.
Do you think Christmas setting stories naturally bring an air or romance and a sense of magic to them?
Yes, I think so. To me though, it isn’t just about including the usual trappings of Christmas like the tree, Santa, elves, decorations, etc. It can also showcase the spirit of the holiday season of charity, caring, love and kindness and how some characters need to either learn or relearn these traits..

What is a gift that each the hero and heroine would love to see under the tree?
Ah, well they do each receive a gift at the end of the book. One that has sentimental meaning to them. *grin* I’m not telling. [wink]

What do you hope readers feel, or take away, once they finish the last page of your book?

I hope after finishing Holiday Jinx you smile and hug those you love close. No, no one dies in this book, but maybe you haven’t always gotten along with a family member or friend. Perhaps you’ve lost touch because of an argument you had years ago that tore you apart. Everyone makes mistakes. We all hurt each other, especially those we love. We might not mean to, but it happens. The holidays are a time to set aside all hurts and wrongdoings. They’re a time to forgive as my characters learn.

And heck, if you feel all awwwwww, too, that’s awesome!!

My Review:
Author Abbey MacInnis writes a book about two people who need to find love again and this time have it last forever and they need the help of one of Santa's elves to make it happen.  Although, the elf Santa does pick is actually being punished to get the deed of the humans together since she was found almost ruining the secret of Christmas due to her love of a mortal.
Jinx...the elf who Santa has sent on the mission to bring the two humans together has her work cut out for her since Christopher Reagan does not believe in love no longer and Natalie has had her heart broken.  Let's just say, Jinx will have to make the humans come together without her magic and if she fails she'll be forced to go to the elf prison.
Christopher is CEO of Wondrous Toys and he always makes a trip to Michigan during the holidays to be alone and drink from the bottle that has taken over his life since his last love broke his heart.  He never thought the stubborn and very determined new CEO of Enchanted Toys, Natalie Burnes would change his Thanksgiving holiday by showing up to his cabin to stop him from buying up shares of her company.  Natalie Burnes knows what kind of man Chris is and she is determined to get her family's company back up and running.  Chris though has his own secret agenda of Natalie's company and he knows something is going on behind her back, but he has to make sure he's correct before he tells her.
Both Christopher and Natalie are about to realize their fate was sealed to meet all because of a elf and her mission.

I really enjoyed "Holiday Jinx" because it had romance, comedy, and even drama.
I actually see it becoming a movie one day, especially on ABC Family or Hallmark channels.
It has two characters who have had their heart broken, but differently and they also have had their own family drama, but Natalie is naive on what is going on with hers.
Natalie was annoying at times because she could not see through what was going on and then when at the end Christopher announced his true intentions.
She really did need Chris from the beginning and everything ends up working out in her favor because when love conquers everything.
I will definitely be checking out Abbey MacInnis's other books that she has written in the very near future since this was my first book from her.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves Christmas themed books that is contemporary romance with paranormal twist.  It was a very much different read, especially with having Santa and the elf, Jinx playing a part.  I never knew Santa could be mean, but I guess he means business when it comes to giving away his secrets.  Jinx was one mischievous character, but she definitely played a very comedic role in the book.  =)
And can I say...I love the title of this book.  =)

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the blog tour coordinator (from the author) in exchange for an honest review.

Blog Tour: Santa's Executive (Guest Post/Excerpt/Giveaway)

A Post from Justin Cooper

You ever wonder what it’s like to be one of Santa’s helpers? Yeah, I didn’t think you did. But now look at me, one of Santa’s executives. Before all of this, I didn’t think Santa was real.
I mean, sure, I knew witches and ghosts were real because I’ve seen them. Matt, my brother, is an ex ghost, while Jordan, his fiancĂ©e is a witch.
So I knew the whole paranormal thing was real.
But who knew about Santa.
Well, apparently I should have known considering I’d met the guy when I was younger. But I was kind of unconscious at the time since I’d just been in an accident. But really, it wasn’t my fault.
Okay, so I should have remembered something about a big dude in a red suit, but whatever.
Now I’m Santa’s executive, complete with holiday magic. Thankfully I’m not alone. I got to meet my Rina, one of Santa’s elves.
The very sexy kind.
She helped me figure out how to do this whole Christmas thing. Plus, I got to be by her side.
Now, we had a little issue with a  Christmas baddie, but we’re okay now.
And I get to find my sexy elf under the mistletoe. What more do I need.
—Justin Cooper

 Description

Justin Cooper wasn’t always the straight-laced Holiday Elementary School principal. In his youth, he broke all the rules and enjoyed being the bad Cooper brother.  One Christmas Eve night he got a little too rowdy and things changed forever. Now the consequences of that fateful night have come back in full force and the myths of Christmas might be more real than he thought.
Rina Brewer is one of Santa’s elves. Not the tiny cute little toy maker, but the sexy, petite, energy filled bombshell kind. She’s come to Holiday to aid Justin in his new role as Santa’s executive, but as soon as she sees the sexy ex-bad boy, she realizes the job may be more than she bargained for.
As they work together to make this Christmas one to remember, an old foe has come to town to make sure that this holiday is the coldest yet.
Warning: Contains a perky elf who dreams of something more, a Christmas myth who may be a baddie, and a sexy ex-bad boy who craves Christmas cookies…and a certain perky blonde.

It would be totally inappropriate to want him.
But, in reality, the connection between an assistant and their executive could be an intimate one if they let it. They were sharing magic, and sometimes a connection would hold. She hadn’t thought about that when she’d come down here. Honestly, she hadn’t thought much of anything. But, she couldn’t think of any of that now. No, she had work to do.
Plus, the object of her thoughts was staring at her with an intensity that threatened to send shivers of need down her body.
“Rina?” Justin’s deep voice caught her attention, and she wanted to moan. Fruitcake, she had to get off that track. “What’s wrong? Are you still cold?”
He pulled her closer and ran his hands up and down her arms. She almost closed her eyes and leaned into his touch but resisted. Barely.
“I’m fine, just warming up.” She pulled back from his arms and tried to ignore the sudden loss. “Are you ready to go?”

Guest Post & Giveaway w/ Anne Calhoun

Today we have Anne Calhoun here talking about Holiday Traditions and a little about her new novella Breath on Embers! And there is a chance to win a copy so make sure you check out the rafflecopter below! :)

Holiday Traditions. Discuss.

One of my favorite Christmas activities is making holiday cookies. My grandmother and my great-aunts loved to give and receive assortments of cookies as neighborly gifts. They traded recipes and little portions, discussed adaptations, planned which kind they would make next year. But when we moved away from Nova Scotia, every year my grandmother sent south a tin of the only kind of cookie that mattered: shortbread.

Not coincidentally, shortbread plays a role in my current release, BREATH ON EMBERS. The heroine, Thea Moretti is struggling with the holidays, not wanting to make cookies but in a situation where she has to, so she makes her Grammie’s shortbread…which is just like my Nana’s. Her shortbread was so good, light and flaky and sweet, decorated with homemade frosting and those little silver balls that crunched against your teeth when you bit into the cookie. You don’t roll out the dough. You pat it out, very gently, to keep it light and avoid the dreaded crunch. As she lived nearly 2000 miles away from us and we rarely saw her at Christmas, the box of shortbread that arrived was almost more treasured than the presents. She carefully wrapped the cookies in layers of waxed paper and often sent them in last year’s Quality Street candy tin, a reminder of the extended family we left behind when we left Canada.

My husband’s family made different cookies, melting moments and the like, so when we got married we had to make more cookies. (I know…the horror of making more cookies!) Our neighbors bring over bars and squares and pretzels dipped in white chocolate, which always brings back good memories of my grandmother and her sisters, talking recipes and reciting poetry.

We developed other traditions after our son was born. We almost never eat in the car, so our son charmingly thinks this is a Big Treat (low expectations = win). We get fast food and drive around to look at the lights, concentrating on the neighborhoods that go all out. Of course, we play Christmas music while we’re driving. My grandfather grew Christmas trees in Nova Scotia, so every year we had a baby tree of our own to decorate and keep in our bedrooms. This is another tradition we’ve continued for our son. There’s something magical about multi-colored lights on a child’s sleeping face (I might enjoy this one more than he does).

What are you favorite holiday traditions? Do you have a particular cookie recipe or tradition you follow every year? How about a must-listen Christmas album? Tell all, and one commentor will win a copy of BREATH ON EMBERS!

Review
Oh man, I need a cold shower after reading this sexy little novella! Anne really knows how to write the steamy stuff!!! I was really taken with both Ronan and Thea but Ronan was my favorite of the two. He's the typical big sexy alpha male and he's firefighter. What is better than that? And he was perfect for Thea, who was no longer really living because she lost her husband a couple of years before. They are such the match made in heaven. Thea needed to be rescued and him having his hero complex needed someone to rescue. And let me tell you, he did a really REALLY good job of rescuing her. ;)

I had one little issue with the book but it didn't affect how much I enjoyed it. The scene with Thea, Ronan and Tim was a bit awkward to me. Maybe it's just me but I don't really see how sharing your woman will show her that she really only needs you. But like I said, maybe it's just me. I enjoy a good menage story every now and then but this part of the story fell kind of flat for me.

All in all, this was a great holiday read! Fun, sexy and a little sad at times. Made for a great one sitting kind of book. I really enjoyed it and I plan to look into this authors other books now! If you enjoy erotica and you like those big sexy fire fighters that have a hero complex, well then this book is for you!!!

Guest Post & Giveaway w/ HelenKay Dimon

It's Christmas time and we all know what that means....fun Christmas romance! :) Today we have HelenKay Dimon with us talking about her characters Spence and Lila from her new Christmas romance novella. And we also have a giveaway so make sure you check out the rafflecopter at the bottom of the page!

No man likes having his bedroom skills described as forgettable, but that's just what Lila Payne does when she runs into Spencer Thomas again. When she discovers that he'd lied about his name during their brief three-day romp a few months before, she's so angry that she pretends she doesn't remember him.

Spence regrets his deception, but not as much as he regrets that their time together didn't last longer. When she shows up in his town, looking to revitalize her uncle's mountain resort, Spence is determined to help. Maybe rescuing Lila from a hopeless renovation project will get him in her good graces—and back in her bed.

Lila has no interest in being rescued, and Spence is insulted by her stubborn rebuffs and her "faulty" memory. But when rehab work turns into an after-hours meeting, the two of them are in for a night that just might prove unforgettable…

Now available:

Thank for having me here today to talk about my newest release, WE'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS.  The book just came out and I'm really excited about it. It's the third in my "Holloway" series, which references the fictional town where the book is set, Holloway, West Virginia.

I thought I'd share a little but about the inspiration for the hero and heroine – Spence and Lila.  In general, when I write I don't think "gee, I'll write a hero who looks like Alex O'Loughlin" though, honestly, who could blame me if I did? He's kind of adorable. What I do is build the person in my mind, filling in the physical characteristics, background and personality as I go.  The first time I think about the characters in terms of who they look like that other people might now is when the book is done.  Really, it's when I start filling out the forms for the publisher to start working on the cover.  In this case, this is what I was thinking:

Spence is very smart and a businessman and a guy who works outside and owns a plant nursery. He's a guy who owns business suit but doesn’t wear them all that often.  He's a bit more outdoorsy than that. He also fits into the tall, dark and hottie hero type. A guy who fit the image I had in my head is Eric Winter:

When it came time for the heroine, Lila, I had a strong and determined woman who wasn't afraid of her sexuality or hard work.  She's soft and pretty on the outside and tough on the inside. She doesn't take any crap from Spence…and I loved that about her. The woman who fit my idea of her is Ginnifer Goodwin:

They're cute together, don’t you think?

HelenKay Dimon is an award-winning author of more than a dozen novels and novellas. Her first single title, Your Mouth Drives Me Crazy, was excerpted in Cosmopolitan magazine in August '07 and spotlighted at E! Online. She made Cosmopolitan a second time in December 2009 with her novella "It's Hotter At Christmas" from the Kissing Santa Claus anthology. Her books also have been published by Doubleday Book Club and Rhapsody Book Club and translated into several languages.
HelenKay's road to publication took a few turns. She's not one of those authors who burst out of the womb with a notepad in one hand and a pen in the other. She didn’t know she wanted to write until much later in life. She tried international travel and journalism and enjoyed careers in politics and law first. After graduating from Syracuse University with a double major in newspaper journalism and political science, she landed in Washington, D.C. A few years as a legislative assistant to a member of the House of Representatives convinced her law school might be a good idea. Three years at Wake Forest University and one bar exam later and HelenKay moved back to the D.C. metro area as a lawyer. General civil litigation gave way to a specialty in family law and an eventual partnership in a highly respected boutique firm.
After twelve years as a divorce lawyer specializing in unhappy endings, HelenKay now writes romance for a living. The sudden career change resulted from her husband getting one of those "can't turn it down" job offers. With only a few months' notice, his work took the family from Maryland to their current home in California. So, instead of days filled with court, clients and a great deal of whining and complaining, HelenKay now writes for a living. She thinks of herself as a "recovering lawyer" and is grateful every day for the ability to write full time.

My Review:
I was looking for a short christmas themed erotic book that would capture my interest since I hardly read holiday themed books.  "Wish List" by Sylvia Day (which originally was published in White Hot Holidays Vol 2) definitely did not disappoint and now has me looking for other christmas themed books.  I also did not want to miss out on an opportunity to read another book from Sylvia.

Stephanie Martin has had feelings for Nicolas for awhile now, but never thought it would work out because Nick is too much of a play boy.  He goes through women like crazy.  At the annual Christmas party for their law firm though, Stephanie opens up her Secret Santa gift and to her amazement, she is about to get one of her Christmas Wish List items crossed off.  How did Nick know about her secret Wish List...she'll only be able to find out if she asks him.
Nicolas has been trying everything to capture Stephanie's interests.  He has been flirting with her for the past months and all of his ex-girlfriends, friends and family members want to know why he just does not ask Stephanie out.  He wants to make it special and one night when he comes across a crumpled piece of paper with some wish list items that include his name....now is his shot to win over the beautiful and sexy co-worker he has had eyes on forever.

I thought Wish List definitely was a very erotic, sexy, fast pace read that I had a hard time putting down.  I literally read it in less than a hour.  I enjoyed the storyline of having a naughty wish list being fulfilled.  Makes me want to create my own instead of having an actual gift.  Watch out hubby.  =)
Nicolas could definitely be every woman's dream come true when it came to fulfilling wish lists and making dreams come true and the ending I literally teared up on when he found out the truth on why Stephanie was so distant and why she did not think a real relationship would work out between them.  Nicolas though, fought hard to win her over.
It may be a short read, but Wish List will keep anyone warm during the cold winter nights for just a short awhile and maybe who knows it will make you want to come up with your own naughty wish list with your significant other....or even win over that special someone you've had your eye on for awhile.

I definitely look forward to reading more books from Sylvia very soon.  I'm a HUGE fan of her books and this book definitely is a must-read again for next Christmas.
